NUM TIME COMMENT

Shambo Jack and Summer Schemer possess good early speed. INCANDESCENT (1) was disappointing when a beaten favourite at Whanganui last time out. He peaked on his run that day after leading, and with less time between starts, he can make amends. Follow your money. SO FEAR (5) franked his impressive trial win at Ellerslie with a nose win at Whanganui on debut, when lifting late to get in the final stride that day. She would have learned a lot from that experience, and she can repeat the dose. SHAMBO JACK (3) raced on the pace and folded quickly when making his debut in the spring in a good field at Ellerslie. His trial form hints at something better, and now that he is stronger, he can show his true ability. Each way. SUMMER SCHEMER (6) was a game winner on debut at Ellerslie nearly 4 weeks ago, and she will only improve with more racing. She was unbeaten at the trials beforehand, and she is expected to go on with the job.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Incandescent can win this.
2 01:22 NIKAU CONTRACTORS 1600m
Acesandspaces has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. NAVY ENSIGN (7) has been racing so consistently this season, and will be trying 1600m for the first time after being given no chance at Ellerslie over 1500m nearly 2 weeks ago. He found the line nicely that day, and with an ounce of luck, he can take this out. VICTOR TANGO (3) followed up his narrow Ruakaka defeat on debut with a comfortable win at Matamata nearly 3 weeks ago. He can secure a run that suits him from the pole position, and he should figure in the finish again. AUTUMN QUEEN (4) resumed with a tough head win at Tauherenikau over 1400m, and the extra 200m will only be further in her favour. She is bred to relish 1600m, and her next win won't be far away. LA DIEM (5) is another deserving last start winner, who scored easily from near last on the corner at Pukekohe 23 days ago. Look for her late again. Each way value. SHOEBILL (6) built her form strongly to score by half a length at Tauherenikau 15 days ago. Stick with her for all top 4 combos.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Navy Ensign deserves to win this race.
3 01:57 YOURRIDE 2100m
Hakata Bay can work over from a wide alley to lead. HEPHAESTUS (4) followed up his impressive Otaki maiden win with a game run for second at Trentham nearly 3 weeks ago when he tried his heart out from a near hopeless position on the turn. He is still maturing, but is still good enough to win a race like this. MUSTANG MORGAN (5) finished off his last run at Pukekohe with purpose and was only narrowly beaten at Te Aroha a fortnight ago. A more genuine tempo would suit him, and he can go one better. CASTLE ROCK (6) set the pace and lasted strongly when scoring by nearly a length at Pukekohe just over 3 weeks ago. He cops a wide gate, and he is likely to be running on strongly late. Stick with him on an each-way basis. MULAN ARDECHE (12) has raced his way back into form after stepping up to a middle distance. Each way claims again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Hephaestus can win this.
4 02:32 NIKAU CONTRACTORS 1400m
Strong tempo with Takeshi, Dream Of The Moon and Financier going forward ahead of Moschino and Mollify. DREAM OF THE MOON (8) finished a game runner-up off a short break at Ellerslie nearly 4 weeks ago, and with the rise in class here, she will carry 5kg less, thanks in part to an apprentice claim from her regular hoop. She cops a good gate and is the one to beat for us in an even field. TAKESHI (7) did not run on as well as expected at Matamata nearly 3 weeks ago, but did have an issue after that run. He is far better than that, and he is worth another chance. FINANCIER (5) resumed with a solid effort for second in a small field at Taupo nearly 4 weeks ago, and he is normally very consistent. He will be a lot stronger this year, and with the advantage of the pole position, he will run another honest race. MOSCHINO (6) was chasing down a hat-trick when failing to cop a heavy track at Matamata nearly 5 weeks ago, finishing at the rear of the field. Don't drop her yet. Each way value. MASTER FAY (2) has only really missed in G1 company this season, so include, and UDERZO (3) can place.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Dream Of The Moon can win, but this field is very even.
5 03:04 GOLF WAREHOUSE 1200m
Strong tempo assured with Customized, Le Jacques Cartier and High Emotion rolling to the front. ASHOKA (4) has not missed a cheque in 5 starts, including his maiden win at New Plymouth in the spring. He resumes from a spell that would have done him the world of good, and with a recent sound trial under his belt, he will be ready to rumble fresh up in a handy field. LE JACQUES CARTIER (5) did not take long to break through, scoring at only his second start 23 days ago at Pukekohe by half a head. Stick with him, despite the tough gate. HIGH EMOTION (9) has been thereabouts in most of her starts to date, and battled on well enough at Matamata nearly 5 weeks ago for fourth on a heavy track. She carries 3kg less here, and she is worth including. VIENI SU (10) could add spice to all combos.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ashoka will be hard to beat, and Vieni Sue is not out of this at a price.
6 03:44 MYRACEHORSE 2100m
Leitrim Lad and Giacomo to battle for the leading role. KIWI SKYHAWK (2) was so brave when finishing fourth and under a length from the winner in the G3 Avondale Cup at Ellerslie nearly 4 weeks ago over 2400m. He has been in terrific form all season, and if he has not come to the end of his prep, he can take this out. SAVOIR FAIRE (6) stepped up in class, dropped in weight, and got the job done on a soft track at Matamata nearly 3 weeks ago. He carries the same weight this time, and he can repeat the dose. LEVAKIA (8) peaked on her run late at Matamata 9 days ago, and she will be a lot sharper this time with less space between her starts. Can win. ROCTAVE (9) has been mixing his form this prep, and was doing his best work late when finishing fourth behind the second pick in the same race last time out. Craig Grylls picks up the ride, and he can figure in the top 3 with his best effort. MALDINI (7) has always been consistent, and this year will be no different after he resumed with a narrowly beaten second at Matamata. Stick with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Levakia each way.
7 04:20 ELSDON PARK 1200m
Genuine tempo with Charmrose and Perfect Dividends up front. HAVE A CRACK (4) is a very progressive and only lightly tried 5YO gelding who was a fair fifth when resuming at Matamata nearly 3 weeks ago off the back of a trial win at Avondale 11 days before that. He will be spot on with his fitness, and he should go close to taking this out. CHARMROSE (1) has been racing well since winning a brace in the spring, and with her racing well spaced, she has maintained her condition. She has the pole position, and with Opie Bosson back in the saddle, she can have a say in the finish. Each way. PERFECT DIVIDENDS (3) has been mixing his form, and could be looking for some wetter ground. His last couple of starts have been on anti-clockwise tracks, and all of his wins have been in this direction. Don't risk him at good odds. THE PERFECT ONE (7) won his first 2 starts this prep, and his 2 runs since then have not been too bad, including his last start close-up fifth at Matamata. Include. ESPADAS (8) will find this far easier than his last start. Each way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Perfect Dividends and Espadas are both worth each-way tickets.
8 04:56 SHOW BY SKYCITY 1600m
Solid tempo with several going forward headed by El Arish. DRAMATIC MISS (8) was a narrow winner by a nose 3 starts back, and he 2 starts since then have been in tougher company than this at Ellerslie. She tries a mile for the first time, and will also welcome Matt Cartwright back to the saddle. Her winning chances will soar on a wet track. OPPENHEIMER (6) tried ever so hard to peg back the leader at Tauranga 6 days ago, but has to settle for a nose defeat. He has the right draw to take this field all the way. PEERLESS (1) followed up his good win on a heavy track at Matamata with a narrowly beaten fourth at Ellerslie nearly 2 weeks ago. As long as the track is wet, he is more than capable of taking this out. LA PRIMA DAMA (13) set the pace and won fresh at Trentham. This is tougher, but go again. Each way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Oppenheimer at each way value in a very even field.
