KATIE WALKER - PROPERTY BROKERS 2200m
Solid pace on the cards with Stone Street and Vanrio who like to get rolling early. OCEAN MELODY (7) was a beaten favourite at Tauherenikau nearly 2 weeks ago, and the step up to 2200m will suit her. She gets a superior gate and must go close to winning this. Follow your money. EARLY ONE'S (1) was beaten by a nose at Trentham 17 days ago over a mile, and he should relish getting back to a longer trip here. A wet track would help him, and he can go one better. VANRIO (3) is a touch one-paced, and he would appreciate a heavy track. He is likely to put himself in a forward position early on and could out-grind his rivals here. Include in all top 4 combos. STONE STREET (8) has improved since being ridden more positively, and she only went down by a nose when trying to make all the running at Whanganui last time out. She may take some pegging back here as well, so stick with her. WAITOTARA WARRIOR (4) whacked away well for fourth at Hawera last time out on a good track, and he can figure in the top 3 here is the track is wet. SUGGESTED PLAY: Ocean Melody can win, but she won't have it all her own way. |

WHANGANUI COMMERCIAL 1200m
Many of these step out for the first time so a genuine tempo is expected. FAIR GAME (2) has recently joined the Johno Benner stable, and he seems to prefer racing in an anti-clockwise direction when looking at his trials to date. Bruno Queiroz in the saddle is a strong lead, and in a modest maiden field, he can make an immediate impact on debut. Check the market. ALLARU (3) needed her debut run, and then ran a handy type to a neck second up at Hawera nearly 3 weeks ago. She will continue to improve with racing, and she can go one better here. WAILEA (8) is a recent Victorian import, and she has shown some ability at the trials. A tricky gate might be a problem, but she can still make her presence felt with some early luck in the running. SWIFFTY (10) cost herself any chance on debut when racing greenly throughout the running. She will improve immensely with that experience, and she can make amends. Include in all top 4 combos. MAY WIRTH (9) has yet to fire on race day, but her stable has hit some strong form, and she is not the worst in this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Fair Game can win if the money comes for him. |

GREG O'BYRNE - PROPERTY BROKERS 1400m
In the absence of noted leaders, Perugia and Tears Of Victory may be the ones to set a moderate tempo. PERUGIA (2) has found it hard to win another race, and she ran on strongly from well back when finishing runner-up at Te Aroha 12 days ago. She looks to be extremely well-placed in this field, and she is the one to beat. JAEGER (1) needed the run badly at New Plymouth 11 days ago, and he has much less time between runs this time. He slides down in class and can make amends. Hard to beat. TEARS OF VICTORY (3) dropped into this class at Hawera last time out and ran a vastly improved race for fifth. She has the pole position this time, and Bruno Queiroz sticks with her. Each way value. PADDY GIFT (5) has been well below what he is capable of for some time. This company will hold no fears for him, and he would not be a total shock winner of this. One more chance. FOOL ME ONCE (8) is a staying type of mare resuming from a spell. A recent third at the trials, will ensure that she is ready to rumble fresh. Check the market moves. SUGGESTED PLAY: Perugia should win, and Paddy Gift for the blow-out. |

JARED BROCK - PROPERTY BROKERS 1400m
Moderate pace only with Vanilla Storm leading Rybakina. LYDIARD PARK (1) has a massive private reputation off the back of some impressive trial form, but the betting public has yet to see any of this ability on race day. He will be stronger again after another break, and it is now his time to stand up and be counted. Follow your money. TRAFALGAR (6) makes his debut after 3 public trials, including his best effort yet when finishing second at Tauranga late last month. Check the market moves. MR BOMBASA (2) needed the experience when making his debut at Whanganui, and he will be suited to the extra 200m here. Include in all top 4 combos. RYBAKINA (11) will relish stepping up an extra 300m in journey, and having Michael McNab in the saddle from a good draw is a bonus. Each way. VANILLA STORM (13) has the pole position, and she is expected to improve quickly second up. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lydiard Park to win. |

NZB MEGA MAIDEN SERIES 1400m
A solid tempo on the cards with Wanganella leading the way. CARTER JOHN (1) had an excuse when being beaten as the favourite in his penultimate start, and then was a neck back from the winner at Whanganui just over 8 weeks ago. The gap between runs would have done him no harm, and he can break through for an overdue win here, especially if the track is wet. IVY TIME (6) has been thereabouts in all of her 5 runs to date, and she will be even better with more time. A wet track will be no problem, and she won't lack fitness. Stick with her on an each-way basis. WANGANELLA (13) has been narrowly beaten in both of her career starts over this trip, and she has the advantage of the pole position here. Michael McNab is in good form, and the pair can get the job done this time. PEE BEE GIRL (12) won the most recent of her 2 trials, and Craig Grylls has a formidable association with her local trainers. A wide gate on a heavy track might be an advantage, and any market moves should be followed. LA KWIK (11) drops back in trip, and is worth including. SUGGESTED PLAY: Wanganella each way. |

CONRAD WILTSHIRE - PROPERTY BROKERS 1200m
A solid tempo on the cards with Lucullan leading the way. LUCULLAN (4) is a very talented gelding who mixed his form during the spring but did remind us of his ability when winning easily at Whanganui in November. He has won his only start on this track, which is an advantage, and he does come to hand quickly. Follow any positive market moves. LEGALLY BINDING (1) had an excuse fresh up at Matamata and was not knocked around in the run to the line. He will be better for that hit-out, and will drop 3kg from that run thanks to a 2kg claim. Stick with him. Can win. RABEGA (2) got back on a slow back at Tauherenikau last time out, and ran on too late for sixth. He has been given plenty of time to get over that run, and he can figure in the top 3 here. COUNTRY SALON (5) may not be strong enough to see out a middle distance and will be dropping back from 2000m to 1200m for this. If the track is heavy, he is not the worst top 4 chance. NEPHETI (3) needed her first run back from a spell, and she will be a lot sharper for this. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lucullan can win. |

MARK LOURIE/PAUL GILLIGAN 2200m
Khando to roll forward and dictate terms. ROSINA (5) has found some good form since dropping down to this level, and her second as the favourite at Matamata last week over a mile was full of merit. If this race has not come too soon for her, then she is the one to beat, especially getting back to a middle distance. ALTEZZA (7) has been mixing her form and will appreciate sliding down to this level. Bruno Queiroz has returned to the saddle, and she will be hard to hold out here. Each way value. BETTERBEYOU (8) got going late when finishing fourth on a heavy track at New Plymouth nearly 5 weeks ago over 2000m. The extra 200m won't be an issue, and she can figure in the top 4 again. KHANDO (4) followed on from a couple of runs at Ellerslie with a game effort for third at Matamata 18 days ago. She drops in class, and is good enough to take this out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Khando each way claims in an even field. |

PROPERTY BROKERS 1650m
Genuine tempo from Agent Black Hand leading Pile Driver. REZINATE (7) ran a much better race when finishing fourth at his second ever start at Trentham 5 weeks ago. He has needed time to mature, and stepping up to 1650m will suit him down to the ground. A good draw will help, and his first win is not far away. SUBSONIC (1) was doing his best work late in his first run over a middle distance at Whanganui just over 8 weeks ago. With the space between starts, he won't mind dropping back in trip, and from a good draw, he can take this out. JAWS (12) caught the eye with a solid late finish for fourth at Pukekohe 3 weeks ago over 1600m. The uphill home straight here will suit this filly, and with Michael McNab picking up the ride, she will be hard to hold out. BELLE'S CHARM (8) was asked to do too much last time out when settling a long way back from a wide gate at Trentham last start. She is capable of winning a race this season. SUGGESTED PLAY: Jaws each way. |
