NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:35 Butch Power Maiden Plate 1100m
Expecting Una Gentle to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. UNA GENTLE (14) went forward and gave a great sight when narrowly beaten over 1100m at Moe. Keeps improving and will take advantage of the good draw. Hard fit now and can go one better. SNAPPY BEAU (2) resumed as favourite at Hanging Rock but looked a run short beaten 2L. He's since won a Kyneton jumpout and maps well. His best form is good enough for this. ZERCARDY (7) and CRACKED IT (13) are both debutants who have impressed at the jumpouts. The race day betting will be key with them.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Una Gentle.
2 02:15 bet365 Same Race Multi Maiden Plate 1300m
Anticipating good pressure with many of these at the races for the first time. MUSKITO (7) debuts for a top metro barn and has looked talented in a string of jumpouts. Maps well and Yendall rides. A bold run is on the cards. PAFITIS (8) looked a run short improving as favourite at Cranbourne and he has more to give. Was tried at Group level before the spell so the premier barn must have an opinion. Stablemate CUTTIN' CLASS (4) spiked his numbers placing at Geelong and hits this at peak fitness. Has the inside gate and he is well placed with the 4kg claim. PICK WISELY (3) displayed decent ability last prep and has to be included in his return.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Muskito if the betting suggests stable confidence.
3 02:55 D.A. Dalgleish Maiden Plate 1600m
Moderate tempo expected with Blue Ensign likely to find the front over Sea Warning and Il Penseroso. BLUE ENSIGN (6) stepped up to this trip 22 days ago at Camperdown and was claimed late. He has jumped out well at Flemington since and draws handy today. He has more to give and can win. FINANCE MERCHANT (7) resumed at Mt Gambier over 1412 and just missed. he won't have to improve much to make the finish and count on Linda to manage the awkward gate. SEA WARNING (4) was 2.7 lengths from the winner over 1418m at Werribee last time, following a minor placing at Stony Creek on debut. Needs a good ride but is well placed to feature. STOLEN STOCK (5) showed enough placing this trip at Penola to consider. ZULEIKA (12) will be fitter and has plenty of scope for improvement.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Blue Ensign.
4 03:35 W. L. Bill Biggin 0-56 Handicap 1600m
Genuine tempo from Oh No George leading Whistler Girl. BALTIC WAY (1) just missed at Mt Gambier over 1562m first-up in a return to form. He will be fitter and is still well shy of his best. Tumbles in weight with the 4kg claim and can go one better. WHISTLER GIRL (5) was straight back into the winners' circle will over 1800m at Hanging Rock. That stacks right up and she will get every chance racing forward. DRINK THEN KISS (8) is free running and is also going well enough to feature. Missed a nose this trip at Great Western following a comfortable win at Stawell. VIRTUCON (4) just missed at Camperdown over a mile and that also stacks up. Gets back and will come late. REMIGIUS (2) is back on track and is in the mix as well.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Baltic Way appeals most.
5 04:05 Bob Barr Smith 0-56 Handicap 1300m
A few sit handy but there won't be a great deal of early pressure. PORT LOUIS (1) has been racing in stronger and just missed in a 68 at Mt Gambier last time. Carries more weight but this is winnable with average luck in the run. MANCHEGO (2) drops back to a sprint but expect him to manage. He'd threatened twice over a mile before the latest and Kersley is a positive jockey engagement. SMART RETURN (8) peaks and is knocking on the door. tackled a 66 at Penola last time and he should appreciate the longer sprint. Can feature with average luck. BLACK CHERRY (6) won fresh and was in season last time. Has a cruel gate but her best would see her very competitive.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Port Louis.
6 04:35 T.M. Murray Slattery Willaura Cup 2200m
Plenty of pace from the outset with Frontline Action and Gift Of Oratory leading the charge. FRONTLINE ACTION (4) won over a mile at Tatura first up as a $2.3F and will improve quickly off the Flemington outing following. Needs this trip and has raced well in much tougher metro company. In a smart barn and this is a winnable assignment. BON FETE (7) has improved his numbers since his win over 2100m in a 66 at Sandown. Just missed at Pakenham last time and Yendall will give him every chance from the handy barrier. EARLY WARNING (9) was quickly back on track beaten 1L at Morphettville over 2000m in a 64. Kersley rides and he'll be in the finish holding that form. Stablemate SURFY PETE (10) ran a competitive figure in a 78 at Mt Gambier two weeks ago. Maps for the run of the race and he always puts in. DARTBOARD (2) is going well enough to consider.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Frontline Action to win.
7 05:15 Millear Family 0-56 Handicap 1100m
Genuine tempo from The Mariner leading Luna Field. Tough. THE MARINER (4) has had one blip in a string of threatening efforts. He will skip over and control the race and deserves another chance. SNAPPY TYCOON (1) has an awkward gate to contend with but will find this easier than Werribee last time. He raced favourite in a 62 at Kerang prior and lost the use of his offside rein at the business end when in a positive position. Chance to make amends. LUNA FIELD (3) is capable enough on her day and has the tongue tie applied for the first time. Will position forward and keep onside. RAGING MONKEY (10) may be the best of the remainder.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to The Mariner.
