NUM TIME COMMENT
1 02:09 A1 ENGINEERING MAIDEN 1200m
Expecting Rock The Market to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sharp trip. BANNERED (3) led first-up at Pinjarra and was only claimed late, beaten 0.3L in a strong performance. His trial coming in was very impressive as well and drawing the inside today is a big tick. Can set the tempo again today and go one better. ROCK THE MARKET (7) is knocking on the door of her maiden win, bumping into one last start who jumped favourite on Saturday. She was only 0.8L away there, following a nose defeat first-up. Awkward gate, but she's third-up now and can shed the maiden tag. GODLESS STORM (2) was off a 561-day break coming into this campaign but has been solid since returning. He was just too far back at Belmont last time out and back up to 1200m today is a big tick. Winkers go one and a forward showing is likely. I'M ODETTE (13) keeps Pike in the saddle from her recent trials and can make an impression. COMMON TOUCH (4) hasn't been far away recently and has claims with the winkers on first time.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bannered looks the one to beat.
2 02:44 SWAN DRAUGHT HANDICAP 1500m
Moderate tempo with Fire The Lot leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. FIRE THE LOT (1) missed as the $2.90 favourite at Pinjarra last time out, beaten 0.3L over the mile. Back slightly in trip today shouldn't be an issue as he maps for a lovely run once again under Chris Parnham. Has shown good ability and he can put it all together now. CHINO BAY (8) was very impressive on debut, winning by 0.7L after settling near the tail of the field. Gaerth remains in the saddle and while she is likely to get back from the draw once again, the slight rise in trip should suit. Can continue her winning ways. PONY UP (7) missed as favourite two back before a 2.2L defeat behind a smart one here last week. On the quick turnaround again and can make her presence felt from a good draw. TOUSLED CROWN (6) should appreciate the rise in trip after a 2.3L defeat last time out over 1300m at Belmont. Can improve now. RIVER ANGEL (5) wasn't beaten far at Bunbury last time out and has to be included on that effort.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Fire The Lot goes on top.
3 03:20 MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP 1800m
Strong early tempo with Final Call and Bird On A Wire leading the way. FINAL CALL (1) had been working towards his win last start, sitting on the speed and scoring by 0.8L. He turned in a strong figure from the front there and he can adopt similar tactics from a good draw this time around. Building a nice profile and can repeat the dose. REEL SERENITY (5) is better than she showed last time out when sitting handy with a very slow tempo being set. She was unable to sprint with them there, but with some more pace on offer in this event that should suit her much better albeit back in trip. Draws ideally and can bounce back to her best. BIRD ON A WIRE (3) steps up in trip today following a sound effort over 1650m at Belmont last time out. She looks to get a nice run on the map and ZJP's claim comes in handy. Can make her presence felt. SWEET SURRENDER (6) won under similar circumstances at this stage of the campaign last prep and has to be included. REGAL BOY (8) wasn't far away last start and is not out of this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Final Call can go back-to-back.
4 03:50 MCA POLYTRACK HANDICAP 1200m
Great Promise should lead at a keen tempo. SAVAGE DANCER (8) has been a little disappointing since a bold first-up effort, beaten 3.1L behind a dominant winner last time out as the $2.05 favourite. Pike sticks with her as she returns to Ascot today and if she can settle closer this time around, she can return to winning ways. GREAT PROMISE (9) got the job done fresh at Belmont when setting the tempo throughout, scoring by a length in a good performance. She turned in a strong rating there and if she can handle the rise in trip second-up, she'll be hard to reel in once again. IMAPAGETHREE GIRL (5) was only 0.6L off the winner last start following a very nice trial coming into this campaign. Drops back in grade now from a good draw and she looks a live chance with the blinkers going back on. PRINCESS IN RED (3) stuck on well at Belmont fresh after a nice trial coming into this campaign. 3kg claim comes in handy and she can improve. BLUE CAN TALK (6) needs some luck but has a few ratings that can see her feature.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Savage Dancer.
5 04:20 RELIABLE ASSET MAINTENANCE HANDICAP 1200m
Cracking tempo with Ranyx and Uukhai leading the way. SMART ENERGY (3) went back-to-back to end last campaign and looks in good order this time in work judging by his recent trials. Carbery reunites with the gelding and he maps for a lovely run first-up today. Might be better over further, though this looks a very winnable race for him on resumption. ZORBRIST (4) resumed here and has placed first-up in the past. His trial coming in was sound and if he can pick up from where he left off last campaign then he'll be right in the finish. MANTUA (1) gets barrier 1 and CJP in the saddle as he steps back out to 1200m today. Sure to go close. RANYX (6) is better than we saw last time out and can bounce back.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Smart Energy can resume on a winning note.
6 04:58 A.T.A. STAKES 2200m
Strong tempo with Filthy Habits and Iowa leading the way over Playhouse Patron. A key lead-up to the Perth Cup. FOREVER BOY (4) won well two back before being (arguably) the run of the race in the Towton Cup where he was backed into favourite. Can sit much closer this time around for CJP and showed he's capable in this grade. Building nicely and can stamp his Cup credentials. FUNCHAL (11) was rather poor behind Forever Boy 18 days ago but suspect this was a target event for her. She gets in down in the weights with the blinkers going on first time. May need some luck from the gate, but she has the class to feature. DEMOLISH (2) went 1500 to 2200m last start and stuck on well, though he'll no doubt be better for that run. Maps to get the run of the race in this and will take beating. STORMAGEDDON (8) flew home in the Towton Cup to just miss the placings and has to be included on the back of that effort. FILTHY HABITS (3) can lead and dictate from the front and be tough to run down.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Forever Boy gets the nod in the A.T.A. Stakes.
7 05:35 GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP 1400m
Little in the way of tactical speed so a moderate tempo is likely. TERRITORY MAN (10) flew home in good splits first-up at Belmont, finishing 0.4L off the winner. The form out of that race has been white hot and this shapes as a very suitable race on the back of that effort. Easy to think he still has improvement to come and he can get the job done this time. RALLY THE TROOPS (9) is another that flew home last start, this time in Saturday grade just 11 days ago. He's third-up here and boasts a strong third-up record. Chris Parnham hops in the saddle this time and if he can take closer order in the run, he'll be hard to hold out. SKYTALKER (5) gets the blinkers on first time today following a 1.3L defeat over this track and trip last time out. He finished behind Rally The Troops there but was solid from a midfield position. Can be in the finish once again. GOLDEN KATHLEEN (7) missed by 1.8L last start in a close finish through the same race as Skytalker. Include. CHERRY CAN RUN (2) will appreciate the easier company today.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Territory Man in the last.
