NZB MEGA MAIDEN SERIES 1400m
Strong tempo assured from Final Applause and Horrie leading the charge. FINAL APPLAUSE (6) was beaten on debut when sent out as the favourite. He was taken on in front that day and was still less than 2 lengths from the winner. He will naturally improve with the experience and is worth another chance. HORRIE (1) was beaten by a promising type at Te Aroha 3 weeks ago, when finishing runner-up off a wide gate. He has a superior draw here and is overdue to break through for his first win. CHILLING OUT (12) ran on boldly for third despite racing greenly on debut at Arawa Park 12 days ago. Each-way claims in this. LOOSE CHANGE (3) did not have the best of luck last time out, and with the aid of a 2kg claim, he is right in this. OTUHI ROAD (10) is making her debut on her home track. Check the market. SUGGESTED PLAY: Loose Change each way. |

HIREPOOL 1400m
Solid tempo anticipated with Tryptic leading the way. TRYPTIC (10) was game in defeat when finishing runner-up on debut and then had excuses when being beaten at Te Aroha 3 weeks ago. She can settle just off the pace here and can make amends. Each way. DON'T TELL THE MRS (2) was third in his first couple of runs and has been given a freshen up since finishing out of the money in a stronger field at Ellerslie just over 6 weeks ago. Stick with him here. I DUNNET (1) was put aside after running third in both of his starts here earlier in the season. He is stronger now and will have the blinkers on for the first time. Each way. RENZO (3) ran the race of an improver at Te Aroha 3 weeks ago. Stick with him. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Tryptic can win this. |

A1 HOMES 1200m
Strong pace with Chicago Dream, Withallmygrace and Berrettini paving the way. BERRETTINI (5) loomed up as the winner at Te Aroha 3 weeks ago, and only peaked on his run late, finishing third. The extra furlong will suit him third up, and he is ready to win, even out of his rightful grade. WITHALLMYGRACE (6) franked some good trial form with a big run to finish second by a short head on debut at Te Aroha 3 weeks ago, where the only surprise was the price that she paid. She strips fitter, drops a kilo, and can go one better. CHEERIO (7) was put aside for a short spell after finishing third as the favourite on debut at Tauranga in October. She has scope, and if 1200m is not already too short for her, then she can figure in the top 3 again. Follow your money. CHICAGO DREAM (2) needed his first run back from a spell in a tougher field at Ellerslie 6 days ago. His only win came here on his home track, and he will be right in the finish this time. BAD EDUCATION (1) has not won for some time and drops down in class. He likes the track and is worth including. SUGGESTED PLAY: Berrettini to win. |

RITCHIE MURRAY RACING 2100m
Genuine tempo with Air Dancer leading the way. ANNIE OAKLEY (7) ran a much better race for fifth at Pukekohe 11 days ago, and she is improving her fitness with each run back from a spell. She is spot on now, and this field is not strong. On top for us. PERFECTMANZ (4) has been below his best in his last couple and will find this much easier than his last run. He has been placed in his only run on this track, and a form reversal is on the cards. AIR DANCER (3) capped off some solid form with an all-the-way win at Arawa Park 12 days ago. He will probably try similar tactics here, and in a field that is not much stronger, he can repeat the dose. INNOCENT VICTIM (2) has raced his way back into some good form and ran on strongly from the back when finishing fourth at Whanganui 18 days ago. He can settle closer to the pace this time from a superior gate and is good enough to take it out. NO PLAN BE (6) needed her first run back from a spell in a tougher field at Ellerslie nearly 8 weeks ago. Don't drop her yet. Each-way value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Annie Oakley can win, and Perfectmanz for each-way value here. |

6 JAN - TRIGG FAMILY FUN RACE DAY 1600m
Strong tempo with Relentless, Balls Of Fire and Unrestrained leading the way. UNRESTRAINED (13) was fourth in G3 company at Ellerslie in September and has mixed her form since then. If she can run up to her best form, then she is the one to beat. WILD THING (12) has been beaten by a pair of wide draws in her last couple of starts, and slots into the pole position this time. A form reversal is on the cards. Each way value. KUDOS (4) has been thereabouts in all 4 starts this prep, and he will be suited to the mile for the first time. His only placing came on this course, and he has solid top 4 claims. RELENTLESS (7) finished third on debut, and then faded at his next run at Pukekohe when he needed the hit-out. He has less time between starts this time, and can bounce straight back into the money. STRATHISLA (14) makes her debut with Craig Grylls in the saddle. The market will tell the story. SUGGESTED PLAY: Wild Thing each-way value. |

ENTAIN/NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES 1600m
Moderate tempo with Kaz Caz leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. WEE NESSY (11) tried hard when finishing fourth at Te Aroha 3 weeks ago over 1400m. The key this time will be the return to a mile, and with some luck from a wide gate, she can take this out. FRENCH THINKER (4) ran a much better race when finishing third at Arawa Park last time out. She is peaking at the right time and is a must for all top 4 combinations. SHUFFLE THE PACK (3) was ridden more positively last time out and ran her best race yet when finishing runner-up by less than a length. She can secure another cosy run from a good gate, and her first win is not far away. GADABOUT (2) led up and faded to finish third last start. Stick with her on an each-way basis. SUGGESTED PLAY: Wee Nessy can get the job done here. |
