PROCON DEVELOPMENTS (AUST) NORTHAM CUP 26 OCT MAIDEN 2212m
Zoomachino and Flavoursome to roll forward and dictate the tempo. ZOOMACHINO (7) improved again over a mile at Belmont and then went back and was narrowly beaten stepping up to a middle distance. Chris Parnham stays aboard and she's well placed to go one better. MISS GRAPHENE (6) comes out of the same race and was heavily bet to win. She didn't finish it off and the rider believed that she may not have appreciated the 7-day back-up. She's had three weeks away and deserves another chance. Pike goes aboard MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (3) and he's likely to show more over this distance. Has to be kept very safe. NEAP TIDE (2) is third up and suited stepping up in distance. Many of these step out for the first time so a genuine tempo is expected. HEAVEN SPECIFIED (1) resumed at Bunbury off a try at Stakes level and was beaten a whisker after enduring a tough run. He has more to give and will enjoy a soft run from the inside barrier. He can go one better. SHE'S CAPITANA (9) debuts for the Durrant yard with the gun hoop booked. She's won her last two Lark Hill trials and jumps from an inside barrier. A bold run is on the cards. GOLDEN OPERA (4) resumes and two back she was beaten 3L in a Group 3 over this distance. Maps well and was placed in a recent Belmont trial. Has plenty of ability, and the betting will be key. CAWARRA (6) has a wide gate but deserves to be kept safe on resumption. Two back she was heavily bet in an Open 2 at Ascot on debut with Chris Parnham aboard and he rides today. She was beaten a nose in a recent Belmont trial and looks ready to go. Solid tempo anticipated with Nicciana heading them off. PERFECTLY PROPER (8) is stakes placed and was within range in Group company in her two starts last preparation. Owns a Lark Hill trial win and Pikes' booking suggests she's pleasing. Maps well and is well-placed to win. NICCIANA (1) led here beaten a whisker on debut and returns to the race track with a Lark Hill trial win under the saddle. CJP stays aboard and expect him to be further improved. ACORN (2) debuts and just missed in a recent Lark Hill trial with Pike on. Faithfull rides today and he maps well enough. Looks ready to race well. INTOXICATING (9) resumes and will carry just 51.5kgs with the claim. Was good on debut and in the first of her two lead-up trials. Worth a look. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Perfectly Proper. |

Genuine pace with Bubbles In Rio taking up the running ahead of Celebrity Angel and Hellavamoment. CELEBRITY ANGEL (10) peaks off narrow defeats here 2x and at Geraldton the latest. She has the early speed to clear the awkward barrier and Pike replaces the 3kg apprentice. She's been heavily bet and this is a winnable race with average luck in the run. BUBBLES IN RIO (2) resumed from a spell beaten 2L at Bunbury. She's raced well in stronger including at Stakes level. Has placed 2/3 second up and is a strong chance to break through. HELLAVAMOMENT (6) won two trials and was beaten 1.3L on debut, beating home the above. Should improve sharply off that and can make the finish with average luck from a sticky gate. SALTY MISS (3) has the outside barrier to contend with, but she was narrowly beaten here first-up and has more to give. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Celebrity Angel. |

Good early pressure anticipated with a large contingent of first starters. STATEWIDE (8) resumes and just missed in the Group 3 WA Sires Produce Stakes at Ascot over 1400m when last seen. He'd shown plenty leading into that and has been gelded. Went close in a recent Belmont trial and is the testing material. LA EXCELLENCE (3) resumes off two narrow defeats at this track and has a Belmont trial warmer. He can be in the finish in this lineup. won't be too far away. NO SHORT MAN (7) debuts and has had five trials stretching back to last year. Has shown ability and is likely to race well. TRAILER TRUCK (9) has also been well-trialled for his debut and placed the latest at Belmont. He is worth a look at a price. SUGGESTED PLAY: Statewide appeals. |

Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a genuine tempo. ROCKING IN VEGAS (2) raced well in his previous preparation without cracking a win and resumed a solid placing at Bunbury over 1000m after being in the firing line on the bend. The longer sprint suits and he draws a soft gate. He's improved and deserves to break through. ADMIRE ASTRA (7) debuts for a strong yard with Pike a key jockey booking. She was nudged out in a recent Belmont trial and maps for the run of the race. A bold run is on the cards, WHO'S TALKING (3) resumes and has pieces of form that stack up. He has a handy gate and brings two sharp Lark Hill trials. Deserves to be kept very safe. ALOT OF DAZZLE (4) has a wide gate to contend with but she was only beaten 1L at Bunburry on debut. Snip Of Gossip should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. AGE OF GRACE (3) did her best work late to score this track/trip second up. She will be better for that and Pike stays aboard. Maps for a soft run and is well placed to repeat the dose. SIDE SHOW (6) was beaten a whisker at York first-up over 1500m and impressed belting home from the back. His overall figures stack up for this, and his second-up record is handy. Presents on a 7-day return and is a chance. SWEET TEA (4) was well-supported at Belmont 5 days ago but didn't get into it after settling back over shorter. She was beaten less than 2L at Belmont over this distance leading into that, and was a winner there the one before. Better suited and can get back on track. SNIP OF GOSSIP (7) didn't manage a wide gate heavily supported at Toodyay but had been narrowly beaten at Belmont first-up. Suited stepping up to the mile and jumps from an inside gate today. A chance at best. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Age Of Grace. |

Solid pace on the cards with Salary Man and Alnaud who like to get rolling early. ALNAUD (1) wound up strongly last time out to miss by a nose over 2025m at Bunbury. Delivered his Maiden over the trip there prior and keeps improving. CJP should park just off the speed and he can bounce back. SALARY MAN (7) races forward and was good beaten 1L this track and trip before a plainer effort at Toodyay back in trip. This suits better and he will get every chance from an inside gate. SLUICE BOX (3) is a veteran who has had one blip in a string of decent efforts. Placed this grade at Belmont three back and went close at Kalgoorlie the latest in stronger. May have the last crack at them. ARNRAY (2) was only beaten 2.2L at Bunbury last time showing more like his best and gets the blinkers again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Alnaud. |

Strong tempo likely with several going forward, headed by King Cartel and Magnachine. Tough. GOLDEN KATHLEEN (6) spiked her figures beaten a nose at Bunbury and then had no luck here and did a big job beaten 2.4L. That form stacks up and she carries 2kg less in this grade. Draws awkwardly but this is winnable with average luck. FOREVER DREAMING (8) is a leader who went well at Toodyay two back before tiring late at York over longer. She's good enough and will give a bigger site over 1300m and on a quick backup. VALSASSINA (1) is third up for a sharp stable and can show more like her best. Draws better today and the 4kg claim brings her right into it. AMJAAD (4) will be more competitive than the form line suggests. She was only beaten 2.6L in a Belmont CL5 last time and maps for a soft run. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Golden Kathleen. |
