NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:43 ECOGLO INTERNATIONAL NZ 1200m
Solid pace likely with Nova Remnant prominent along with Bax Factor crossing from an outside gate. LOCHMARA BAY (3) has been runner-up in 3 of her 4 starts this prep, and will have the ever-in-form Tina Comignaghi in the saddle this time. With some luck from a tricky gate, she is the one to beat. SERENDIPITOUS (12) was a beaten favourite fresh up at Gore in her first run in the South Island. She has a home track advantage this time and will finish a lot closer. Follow your money. LET ME LOOSE (5) was a game fourth here fresh up when peaking on her run late. She meets a similar sort of field here and should pick up a win at short notice. Each way. BAX FACTOR (2) was less than 2 lengths from the winner here 11 days ago when finishing fourth, and has been heading the right way with her form. He is nearing his peak fitness now and can take this out. MORRIE (1) has been runner-up in both of his starts this prep, including his last run here when beaten by a short-head. He is overdue, and can go one better this time.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Lochmara Bay to complete a quinella with Serendipitous.
2 12:16 POWER FARMING TIMARU 1200m
Solid tempo anticipated with Ripicola taking charge. OPTIONS OPEN (11) was put aside after a fair effort on debut at Wingatui as a juvenile. A firmer surface will probably suit her fresh up, and she has been trialling nicely in the lead-up to her return. On top in this field. ALMANDA (2) was placed in both of her starts last prep earlier in the year. She will be a lot stronger this season and will benefit from a 3kg claim. A good draw makes her hard to beat. THE RED RHINO (1) is resuming from a long spell of nearly 2 years for the Parsons stable. He is an 8-year-old having just his seventh start, and has looked very smart, winning 2 trials last month. Use the market as your best guide. ENCHANTED DELIGHT (3) was close up in third when making his South Island debut here 11 days ago. She strips fitter, and won't be long picking up her first win. SHEAINTSOPEACHY (6) won a trial prior to finishing seventh fresh up on this track. She probably just needed the run that day, and is expected to finish a lot closer this time.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Options Open is the one to beat here.
3 12:58 PINK RIBBON & HEARTLAND CHIPS 1200m
Tricky one to map with a number of first starters but over this trip there is good speed anticipated. LOOSE 'N' VEGAS (4) came close to breaking her maiden last campaign as a juvenile, wrapping it up with a minor placing over 1000m in a decent field at Riccarton before having a well-earned three-and-a-half-month break. She will be stronger this season and can take this out fresh up. ETERNAL LIGHT (3) is a promising maiden who finished sixth in her last outing over 1200m in the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes at Riccarton after missing the kick. She cops a tough gate, but can figure in the top 3 at this level. OCEAN BAY (14) will make her debut, and is a filly by Vanbrugh out of Ysabella Brave, and she was close up in a recent Ashburton trial. She is nicely placed after a 2kg claim and is sure to have plenty of market support. RISK MITIGATION (5) improved last start, finishing fourth and beaten by 2 lengths over 1200m at this track. A firmer surface would do her no harm, and she should not be in this grade for long. TEST DRIVE (9) has trialled twice, and won't be far away. Include.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ocean Bay at some each-way value.
4 01:29 VALE MERV BUTLER 2200m
Void should be able to comfortably find the front. AVIVA (5) finished strongly and was only beaten by a nose in her last start over 2200m at Riccarton on the poly track. She was also beaten by a nose there before that, and meets a very weak field here. The only query is the 60-day gap between runs. VOID (1) started as the favourite last time out, and finished a fair sixth over 1600m at this track. His form prior is the better guide, and in this field, he is expected to bounce straight back into the money. SAINT (3) ran a much better race for fifth in his latest run over 2200m at this track. There will be no more fitness excuses fifth up, and he is a must for all first four players. AYE YOU (2) has finished fourth in his last couple of starts, and he should do no worse this time. He is peaking at the right time, and would not be a shock winner of this race. MR PACQUIAO (4) is peaking third up and in this field, he is the best of the rest.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Aviva is clearly the one to beat.
5 02:01 LOVERACING.NZ & CELEBRATING PHAR LAP 2200m
Genuine pace with Hammer Time taking up the running ahead of California Gold and She's So Reliable. KINDLING SPARK (3) ran a solid fourth fresh up over 1600m on the poly track at Riccarton when returning from a spell. She steps straight up to a middle distance today, and in this field, she is the one to beat. CALL ME AL (2) finished fourth two starts ago, then battled away gamely for third over 1800m at Gore. He is at his best when given plenty of room and with time to wind up, he can give the top pick plenty to think about, especially over 2200m for the first time. CALIFORNIA GOLD (1) was a brave runner-up two runs back at this track and then won by a length over 2200m here last start. He will still be on the up with his fitness, and with the aid of a 3kg claim, he can repeat the dose. HAMMER TIME (5) was third here in his penultimate start, and then was a beaten favourite when fifth over 2200m 11 days ago on this track. He will be a lot sharper this time and is worth following. Each way all day. SACRED ROSE (6) is very hard to catch, but he can still not be risked in this field.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Call Me Al is ready to win again.
6 02:37 SOUTH CANTERBURY SADDLERY 1600m
Expecting Cutout to take up the running with Su'par Irish and Nick The Greek close at hand. THE BOSS GIRLS (15) has been well supported in every run when trained in the North Island, and she has failed to live up to her good trial form. She has relocated to the South Island, and though she drops back to a mile, her last run was just over 5 weeks ago, so her fitness won't be a concern. Hard to beat in this field. NAMELESS (12) had a genuine excuse for not showing much here 11 days ago over 1200m. The step up to a mile is the key this time, and she is worth another chance. BAGGIO (2) is dropping back from 2200m to a mile, and is likely to settle back. He has a big finish on him when saved up, and if Bruno Queiroz can have him making his run at the half mile, then he could have the last say here. HAPPY STORY (1) showed a lot more heart when weakening late to finish third here 11 days ago. He has a far superior gate this time and can take it out. FRIENDOFTHEDEVIL (5) only battled last time out on this track after finishing close up in second here before that. Stick with her.  SUGGESTED PLAY: The Boss Girls is good enough to win this.
7 03:11 ASCOT SPORTSHOUSE & EATERY SOCIAL CLUB 1600m
Expecting House Of Tudor to set a genuine tempo after crossing from wide out. SHAKING STEVENS (1) was allowed to control the pace in front here last time out, and gave nothing else a chance when bolting in by a wide margin. He stays in the same class, but cops a nasty draw, and 3 kilos more to carry. He is still the one to beat. HOUSE OF TUDOR (11) ran a much better race last start, finishing second over 1600m at this track after being in contention on the home turn. She should hold her form now that she is fit and will be right in the fight again. Each way. MY BOY ZAC (4) has not won for a long while, but has been fourth in his last 3 starts. Placed to advantage and is generally hitting the line hard. If the gaps come at the right time, then he can figure in the top 3 here. SACRED DIOR (13) is still building up her fitness levels, and should be close to her peak levels third up from a spell. Include in all combos. SKIDDLYDOO (3) needed her fresh up run here 4 weeks ago, and has been to the trials since then. Don't risk her in this. Each way value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Shaking Stevens can win again, but don't rule out Skiddlydoo at a price.
8 03:45 CONGRATULATIONS KYLIE! 1200m
Charm Manhattan is expected to lead at a slick tempo. EIGHT LUCKY PRAWNS (3) was only beaten by a short-head two starts back at this track, and then ran eighth here off a slow pace over 1200m on this track 11 days ago. He has the winkers on this time and can take this out. MI BELLA (10) is making her South Island debut. She performs well fresh and will find the company in this part of NZ more to her liking. Use the market as your best guide to her chances. BEST ROSE (11) was a game third first-up at Riccarton, and then just battled at Stakes level there last time out. She has been back to the trials since then, and at this level, she will be very hard to hold out. GIANNIS (2) built on a solid second-place effort two starts ago at Riccarton on the poly track to score an overdue win there last time out. He has yet to win on the turf, but is stronger now, and is worth including in all combinations to be safe. CHARM MANHATTAN (1) has been thereabouts in both of his starts this prep, and should be close to his peak fitness third up. Include.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mi Bella each way value.
9 04:23 SNAPBACK@CLEARVIEW PARK 1200m
Fast pace assured with Lady Bankside, Toa Haka and Natural Momentum leading the charge. FULL MOON FEVER (5) resumed with a tough win by a head over 1200m at this track, and with the conditions of this race, he gets to carry the same weight in a similar field. He strips fitter and has to be hard to beat again. TOA HAKA (4) showed good early speed and fought on well for third over 1400m at Riccarton last start. He is peaking at the right time third up, and with the aid of a 3kg claim, he can test the top pick, despite drawing a wide gate. CONTEMPLATION BAY (7) returns from a five-and-a-half-month spell that would have done her the world of good. She ended her last prep in some hot fields, and if ready, she could be just too good for this lot. LEGALLY BINDING (9) has been freshened since finishing runner-up over 1200m at Riccarton just over 5 weeks ago. He has trialled since then, and has a stack of upside. Hard to beat again. STREET FIGHTIN MAN (1) is worth considering at this level, and now that he is back in form, he can figure in the top 3 again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Contemplation Bay could be the one to side with in this.
10 04:55 HIREWORX 1200m
Plenty of speed with Alberton Angel, Enterprise and Natural Momentum leading Miss Harley Quinn and Cluedo Lane. GIRLS LIGHT UP (6) went for a spell after posting a brace of wins at Arawa Park, the latest of those being in July over 1400m. She had found it hard to win up until that point, and has since relocated to the South Island to join the powerful Terri Rae stable. A recent trial will ensure that she is ready to rumble fresh up. BAKHITA (14) failed to handle the holding heavy track when resuming from a spell last start over 1200m at Wingatui. Her form last season in Sydney was good enough for her to be very competitive at this level. She strips fitter and should pick up her next win at short notice. Follow your money. ENTERPRISE (10) fought hard to claim second last start over 1200m at this track, just a head behind as the favourite. She is up in class, but drops 4kg in weight, and is set to figure in the top 3 again. QUEEN OF NAPLES (12) is a very progressive mare who ended her last prep with a brace of poly track wins at Riccarton. Her trial form on the turf is good. Each way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Girls Light Up could make a winning start to her South Island career.
11 05:30 JON SNOW & ECHOES OF HEAVEN @CLEARVIEW PARK 2200m
Eulogy Show can work over from a wide gate to lead. AVORIAZ (12) only came to the end of her run late on the poly track at Riccarton just over 3 weeks ago, after looking likely early in the run home. She drops 5.5kg this time, and with less time between starts, she will be a lot sharper here. In an even contest, she can get the job done at a decent price. PERSONA (10) was very poor last time out over 2000m, and will have the concussion plates on this time. Her form prior is a better guide, and she is worth another chance. PEACHY KEEN (1) is trained on the course and did win her only start here. She has been runner-up twice in a row this prep, and is overdue for another victory. Stick with her. MCCLINTOCK (2) was an upset winner here fresh up, when getting up late to score by a short-head. He has more to offer, and from a superior draw, he can take the next step immediately. WAL (8) tried hard but just couldn't get there last time out in BM75 grade. He just needs some luck from a wide draw to be a top 3 chance here. Each way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Avoriaz to be the one to beat at good odds in a very even field.
