Ladbrokes Form Genius Maiden Plate 2470m
A race that lacks early pressure on paper. COWARRIE (2) improved again beaten a nose at Seymour over 2246m. Presents at peak fitness and maps for the run of the race. He rates to break through for the Danny O'Brien stable. WAYED IN LIGHT (9) will be fancied on the back of her 1L defeat at Echuca over 2100m. She was heavily bet in that and Ben Allen is reunited. Has plenty of scope for improvement. SIVA TAU (10) has his third start and is sure to build on the distant placing at Mornington. John Allen will give him every chance from an inside barrier. WET 'N' DRY (6) has been knocking on the door on wet tracks. He'll come late and can't be ruled out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Cowarrie each-way. |

Blue Ismay has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. PERFECT NIGHT (12) has her third race start and can show more today for a leading yard. Comes out of a strong form race on the Hillside and will be suited over the longer journey. Tackling a more suitable race and maps to get every chance. BLUE ISMAY (2) resumes and showed enough his initial preparation to say this is winnable. He won a recent Cranbourne jumpout with Jamie Melham aboard and she rides today. Kicking off at the mile won't be an issue and a bold run is anticipated. TESTY NIC (6) was slow off and covered plenty of ground beaten 2.8L at Donald on debut. There was plenty to like about that and the step-up in trip is a positive. MAHERS LANDING (9) debuted in the Perfect Night race and didn't have the best of it. Draws wide but is in a smart stable and shapes as an improver. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Perfect Night. |

Reasonable tempo with Sparkling Luck probably leading but a few others should keep him honest. BRAVE DANZA (4) rates well on his 1.5L defeat at Bendigo over 1500m. He can improve again and Stackhouse rides today. He'll be tough to beat. SPARKLING LUCK (6) is the threat. Missed by a similar margin at Geelong when he led as a 2.7F. Jamie Melham sticks aboard and that's a decent push for his chances. From a low gate he'll get every chance to see out the longer trip. ZOUCLAIRE (10) led and missed 1L at Mornington and is sure to keep improving. Uses the rail and Bates replaces Jamie Melham. A player as well. SADLERS SYMPHONY (13) will be around the mark following a solid debut at Hamilton. Maps well. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Brave Danza. |

The National Hotel Maiden Plate 1147m
Strong tempo with Iberian Lynx and Terracotta Rose leading the way over Prince Of Brooky. IBERIAN LYNX (2) resumes off close-up placings here and at Bendigo and will be naturally improved. Has two Flemington jumpouts under the saddle and McNeil sticks from those. He's the one to beat on what we've seen. LIVE (8) debuts and has been well prepared at the Cranbourne jumpouts. She's bred to be good and Jamie Melham's booking suggests she's pleasing. Feared. TERRACOTTA ROSE (9) will use an inside gate and keeps Dee. Strips fitter and second-up can stick on better for a leading stable. HELLFIRE BAY (5) didn't enjoy a deep track on debut. John Allen rides and it won't surprise to see quick improvement. SUGGESTED PLAY: Iberian Lynx with the race form/experience. |

Expecting Visual to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. VISUAL (2) switched from James Cummings and resumed on the Hillside placing second behind Stokke as a $2.7F. She'd been off the scene for 405 days so there was a stack of merit in the effort. She will use the inside gate and the in-form Brown goes on. Ran a big relative number at Hawkesbury on debut and she's still well shy of that. The one to beat. EETEEDEE (7) wasn't beaten far at Group level before the spell and resumed at long odds in Stakes grade. She will be better for that and is capable of using the inside barrier. This is more suitable and expect sharp improvement. NORMANDY LASS (5) peaks and is racing well. Gives herself every chance and can make the finish again. JENNI LA ROCK (4) won her Maiden on debut and has more to offer. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hard to risk Visual. |

Leading Teams BM62 Handicap 1447m
Active Duty and Acelum to take up the running at a genuine tempo. STEEL MOVE (6) improved again narrowly beaten this grade trip at Seymour. Draws inside and can take this out with the extra fitness. ACTIVE DUTY (3) is a leader and also rates a winning chance. Drops back 503m off a nose defeat in a no-metro win at Morphettville Parks, but uses the inside gate and has been kept on the fresh side. TATSU (7) took the opportunity to lead at Geelong and missed by a nose. He was good on the synthetic prior and deserves consideration at an each-way price. ACELUM (8) won his Maiden at Kilmore by a big space at a short quote. This is harder but he's in a top stable and is sure to keep improving. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Steel Move. |

Maximum Power and Blue Bandit should set a strong tempo. EXCENIA (11) impressed when winning a Bendigo Maiden before the spell (second up) and resumed here with a nose defeat as favourite in stronger than this. Keeps Dee and is well placed to go one better. SWIFT CIRCLE (12) settled rearward and had no luck at all at Ballarat first-up beaten just 1.2L. He has more to give and John Allen is reunited. With average luck in the run he can fight out the finish. SCHOLL DEEP (9) deserves to be kept very safe. Presents first up after the switch from a NSW yard. She will race over further but her numbers read well for this and she won a recent Colac trial by a big space. Maps well and looks ready to go. BLUE BANDIT (8) went close on debut and then delivered a Moe Maiden by 3.5L. Has an awkward gate but will be fitter and he has good upside. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Excenia. |

Expecting a strong tempo with Storm Ahead, Hot Too Go and Mosamour going forward ahead of Friday At Five and Up And Under. HOT TOO GO (2) resumed here over 1500m with a 3.3L Maiden win and then found one better this grade/trip at Sale after standing flat-footed at the start. Draws low and will be fitter again. Winning rider Stackhouse is reunited and he can bounce back. STORM AHEAD (3) brought strong form to Seymour first up and led fading late over a mile. Won his only second up start and he may take a sit today and threaten. ORAQUA (9) spaced the Donald Maidens by 4.5L as a $2.9F having her first start from the Waller yard. Peaks and is going to win more races based on that. REZONE (5) comes back in trip, and that and drier conditions will suit. Has won a jumpout and his form early doors would see him right in the finish. In a top barn and can't be taken lightly. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Hot Too Go. |
