NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:58 RACECOURSE VILLAGE Maiden Plate 1000m
Iced Chocolate can set a decent tempo. DEEP VEGAS (7) debuts for the premier stable owning a 5L Doomben trial win. She maps for a soft run and Jones sticks aboard. A bold run is on the cards. LIMERO (2) resumes and has been gelded. She's been unlucky not to have broken through and owns a trial win. He can use the low gate and will be naturally improved. ICED CHOCOLATE (10) has switched from the Hawkes barn in Sydney. She finished close up at Canterbury at her first two starts before bleeding at Randwick when well supported. again. Resumes after 190 days and has trialled well. The early market suggests she may need one, but the speedy filly will use the low barrier and Orman is a key jockey booking. CAXTON LASS (5) threatened at Doomben 4x last preparation and will be better for the first-up placing. Rodd goes aboard today and will likely push forward. She has to come back 200m but she's fitter and deserves consideration.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Deep Vegas looks the goods.
2 12:33 TEDDY BEARS PICNIC 3 AUGUST QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate 1400m
Cliodhna Maeve and Cosmic Beauty can run them along. Gollan-trained MEHRETU (7) didn't have the best of it on debut and followed with a narrow defeat at Doomben behind Bright Blonde. She has an outside barrier but Orman's booking is a positive. Strips fitter and will go close. CLIODHNA MAEVE (2) is a former Kiwi who resumed in the same race at a short quote and things didn't work out. She has the rail again and a key jockey switch to Rodd. Showed plenty in NZ and gets another chance. OMIKAMI (8) needed the outing at Doomben first up after the switch from Waller's Sydney yard. Draws handy and Maloney goes aboard suggesting a much better effort is likely. COSMIC BEAUTY (3) is third-up and can show more at a price.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mehretu appeals most.
3 01:08 LADBROKES RACING CLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate 1400m
No designated leader and a modest tempo is likely. VICTORY COMMAND (15) just missed at Ipswich second-up following the switch from a top Victorian barn. Maps for the run of the race and has been briefly freshened. He has strong metro form and can go one better with the extra fitness. MEAT PIE ARTIE (8) resumes with a tidy effort at Doomben and rates well on the three Eagle Farm efforts prior. The longer sprint suits and Noel Callow is an interesting jockey switch. LIETUVA (6) resumed in the same contest and placed close-up. The leading hoop is aboard today and that's a decent push for his chances. He's sure to keep improving. SMOKE 'N' OAKUM (11) resumed with a nose defeat at the Sunshine Coast starting a firm favourite. He just missed his only second-up outing rating well and also has claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Victory Command.
4 01:43 CASCADE Maiden Plate 1600m
Express Payment and Exposition may be the pair to set a moderate tempo. PRINCESS KAGUYA (13) was sharply better at Doomben second-up beaten 1.4L over this distance. She will be better for that and Orman is a key jockey switch. Ready to win. Stablemate EXPOSITION (7) has been transferred from Sydney on a 14-day return. He was plain at Canterbury last time but went close at Kembla Grange prior over this distance. That effort would see him fighting out the finish. GAVIN (9) is a likely improver from the premier stable. Has been kept on the fresh side and has the first-time blinkers applied. ALL ABOUT ARTIE (5) just missed over 1540m on the Gold Coast poly and will be fitter again. Keep safe back on turf. NATIONAL INTEREST (2) peaks and is going well enough to consider.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Princess Kaguya.
5 02:18 XXXX BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200m
Solid tempo with Super Duck leading. Gollin-trained HURTS SO GOOD (1) went back-to-back in a 68 at Doomben starting at a short quote. Orman replaces Maloney and the gelding can go on with the job. YES TO EXCESS (9) had the first time blinkers applied and spiked his figures winning the CL3 at the Sunshine Coast. Maps for a soft run and she'd be a solid each-way chance holding that form. BEAUTANTES (3) resumes and has pieces of form that would see him very competitive. The late betting will be key with him. Stablemate READY AZZ EVA (2) also resumes and has trialled well here over 1000m. Rodd sticks from that and he also deserves consideration.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Hurts So Good.
6 02:53 THE GIBSON Class 6 Plate 1400m
He's Heaven can run them along. MILITARY GAMBLER (6) is hard-fit and tumbles in grade off the 3.8L defeat in the Listed Eye Liner Stakes. He's suited under the race conditions and Orman is a key jockey switch. Maps for a soft run and gets his chance. WEIGALL TIGER (8) peaks and was coming along well before being outgraded at Group 3 level. He showed plenty early doors and is a threat. WITHOUT REVENGE (5) needed the first-up outing and is proven second-up. He's 2x Stakes placed and can't be ruled out. BEAN FOGGY (2) has been knocking on the door and will be around the mark.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Military Gambler.
7 03:28 COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW Class 2 Handicap 1300m
Ponca may be the one to lead. BATTLEFIELD (4) switched from a NSW barn and did a good job here first-up beaten 1.3L. Maps for a soft run and has 3kg weight relief at this level. Fitter and has more to give. He should get all the favours and is left the one to beat. PONCA (8) peaks for the premier barn and is going well enough. Will carry a feather with the 3kg claim and the gate is manageable after scratchings. BILLIONAIR BABY (2) resumed in a 68 at Doomben with good support but didn't finish it off (vet cleared). He has plenty up his sleeve and draws well. In the mix. NOBLE BEAUTY (11) resumes for a sharp metro barn and owns a Deagon trial win. His figures in NSW early doors would see him very competitive.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Battlefield.
8 04:03 SKY RACING Class 2 Handicap 1300m
Expecting Miliarense to lead setting a genuine tempo. DEEP RESPECT (1) missed the kick beaten a whisker at Doomben third-up in a CL3. He'd settled back in a Group 3 prior delivering a it was a decent relative effort. 2x winning rider Orman is reunited and he may position handier today. Peaks and finds the right race. SET TO SHINE (7) improved again missing a whisker at Doomben second-up and is ready to win for the premier barn. Jones just needs to find a good spot from the awkward gate. RUSSIAN MYSTIC (4) resumed at Doomben and did about what expected. Fitter and is best would see him competitive. AMERICAN PHIREBALL (8) resumes for the Munce yard and also goes into the trifectas.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Deep Respect.
9 04:38 MEKKA RACEDAY 17 AUGUST BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1600m
From a wide draw Fun Sponge can cross over and set a genuine tempo. Competitive. NEW LEVEL (10) made sharp improvement narrowly beaten at Doomben and then went back and belted a CL2 field by 2.5L stepping up to this trip. Maps well and with Maloney sticking can go back-to-back. Gollan-trained CONDRIEU (15) has switched from a sharp Sydney barn and has been freshened. She's trialled well and her form more than stacks up. Has an awkward gate to manage but is a winning chance if the market shifts her way. SEBRING GIRL (5) is going better than the form line suggests. She's been within range at Doomben and finds easier. Keep well onside. TANNENBURG (16) peaks and has been switched from Sydney by the Waller barn on a 23-day return. Maps well and gets Rodd. Stablemate SHY GUY (12) comes back 800m from the Group 1 Queensland Derby. It's an ask but he has been kept on the fresh side and the leading hoop is booked. Certainly worth a look.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With New Level.
