NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:25 CARLTON DRY 3.5% BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2000m
Pace sure to be genuine from Vadamos Queen and Nyota matching motors, closely followed by Verbek. DIABELLI (5) lost momentum when it mattered last start and is due a change of luck. At a trip that suits can atone. BULLETS HIGH (3) draws ideally and is an upside type. Has run on strongly in both starts from a spell and finds a longer trip. Right in this. VADAMOS QUEEN (4) has returned in good order with placings in both runs from a break. Won at this trip last prep so must include.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Diabelli win.
2 01:00 CANADIAN CLUB SUPER MAIDEN PLATE 1500m
Maximum Dividend to take charge ahead of New Forest at a good tempo. CHILLY CHARLIE (2) never really got into it first up in a city race but looked promising last campaign. Second up at provincial level lots to like. NEW FOREST (5) produced a much better run second up and tackles more ground now. Drawn ideally and looks close to a win. Import MAXIMUM DIVIDEND (3) resumes as a gelding with two trials under his belt. Keeping safe first up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Chilly Charlie win.
3 01:35 BALTER 2YO MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
Always plenty of early pressure in races like this with a large representation of first starters lining up. HOUDINI (3) has been close up in both trial outings and stable can fire them up fresh. Look for a positive debut showing. JOLLY GOOD FELLOW (4) has been professional in both trials and gets early cover from a soft debut draw. Plenty to like. PELOSA (13) showed sharp improvement in a recent trial win. In a tough debut assignment should measure up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Houdini win.
4 02:10 JIM BEAM MIDWAY 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
Anticipating a stack of early pressure over the sprint course with many of these lining up for the first time. SHAMROCK SALLY (8) was close up in a summer debut and two recent trials have been solid. Plenty to like resuming over this type of trip. SHOW PONY (9) trialled well here recently and looks an early learner. Capable of figuring first up. IN MY DREAMS (12) has been provincial placed previously and snags an ideal alley. Second up has genuine claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Shamrock Sally win.
5 02:45 THE WARRA CLUB PROVINCIAL 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m
Expect Ask The Wife to boot up and hold the fence. Race has changed complexion completely after several key scratchings. AIX EN PROVENCE (1) resumes. Showed good promise during a three start maiden campaign late last year where he placed in each start. Strikes what looks a suitable assignment first up. THINK WE'RE THERE (6) debuts. Trials in readiness for this have been sound. CRACKENTHORPE (3) gets a few gear changes and most recent trial was better. Don't dismiss.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Aix En Provence win.
6 03:20 CARLTON DRAUGHT MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m
Always plenty of early pressure in sprint races such as this with a large contingent of first starters. FLOODGATES (7) finds her best draw to date and has tried hard in both provincial efforts. Lots in her favour third up. PIPPIE BEACH (8) motored to the line late in a stylish debut and the added trip looks ideal. Promising type worth following. ARTIFACTX (1) is on the improve and peaks at a longer trip after three runs in. Expected to be in the finish.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Floodgates win.
7 04:00 JAMIE RUSSELL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m
Genuine tempo from Eye Of The Fire. WATCH MY GIRL (4) is a consistent filly who was strong to the line first up. Cops another tricky draw but has the right form to run well. MOGWAI (1) drops sharply in grade for this assignment coming off two solid trials. Proven fresh and set to give this a shake first up. EYE OF THE FIRE (3) is doing plenty right in just two starts and makes his own luck. Third up can run another bold race.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Watch My Girl each way.
8 04:35 PERONI BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1500m
Strong early tempo with Code In Time also pushing ahead. MONTE MAXIMUS (8) produced a strong effort in similar company last start and peaks now. From a drift back draw can run into it late on home patch. DEEP FURY (7) doesn't win out of turn but has been very honest in three runs back from a break. Despite a tricky draw finds a contest that gives him genuine claims. CODE IN TIME (2) is on a winning roll but does finds a stiffer test. Up in weight but stays under notice.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Monte Maximus each way.
