CALABASAS has been very good in all three runs this time in and now appears set to relish the step up in trip. Form through Acatour makes for good reading and he shapes as one of the hardest to beat. Another race early in the card where there doesn't look a great deal of early speed present. OCTAVIAN AUGUSTUS placed on resuming over 1300m at Warwick Farm 17 days ago when taking on the older horses. The colt will have taken benefit from the run and has always give the indication a mile would suit and most likely on the way to further still. He appeals in a race which looks somewhat thin in terms of quality. HESSDALEN broke maiden status last start at Hawkesbury over 1500m. The colt rises in grade on that outing however will at least have the Blinkers applied for the first time. Out of a Daylami mare, he is another who should relish a mile. EARTH off a last start 1350m maiden win with Bowman in the saddle is also worth plenty of thought. The colt is a half brother to Group 2 winner Awesome Rock who is a winner out to 1800m. CALABASAS has been rolled as favourite in finishing second at each of his starts this campaign. While proving frustrating, he keeps doing enough to warrant thought at his next subsequent run. SUGGESTED PLAY: Happy to side with Calabasas.
