Even tempo with Starward probably taking it up from a low draw in the absence of a genuine leader.
OAKFIELD MARS (13) just missed three runs back over 1000m at Gosford but has disappointed in two subsequent outings, both at the provincials. Drops back to an easier maiden today and the application of blinkers might do the trick. MAXIMUM RIDE (2) produced a real eye-catcher here last time out, charging home late to be beaten under a length over 1258m. Very fit after two runs back from a spell and this slightly longer looks ideal. DARK JUSTICE (5) is a first starter by Justify from an Excites mare who has produced six winners from seven foals to race. Won a recent trial at Gosford in good style so this Kris Lees-trained three-year-old looks ready to run. SMASHING NOVA (7) settled midfield but failed to run on when resuming over 1200m at Scone recently. Lightly raced and open to plenty of improvement. Market watch on ADELINA FALLS (8) first-up from a 27-week break. SUGGESTED PLAY: Giving Oakfield Mars another chance.
