WAN CHAI GAP HANDICAP 1650m Track: GOOD
Decent field size but it lacks an on-pacer so only expecting a moderate tempo. \NORTHERN BEAST (1) rattles home from the back to finish 2L off a smart winner over this course and distance 21 day ago and maps for a much better run this time. Hugh Bowman can be a touch closer from the alley and if he can run up to what he did last start, he'll take plenty of beating. SMART BEAUTY (10) drops back to 1650m after a disappointing effort over 1800m here last time out. He's trialled well since that effort and he gets Zac Purton in the saddle from a favourable alley. Big winner two back and it wouldn't surprise to see him get back to that level. BIG TWO (8) jumped favourite last start after a couple of good efforts over this track and trip in recent times, but was beaten 3.3L most recently. Happy to overlook that effort and expect him to get back to his best. That would see him right in the finish again. MASTER OF LUCK (2) ran over the top to score impressively last time out and merits plenty of respect.
