Certain to be a strong tempo with Sea Serpent, Idea Milagro and Sparta Leonidas leading the charge. SPARTA LEONIDAS (5) has returned in good order this preparation. Opened with a second at this track two starts back then landed the prize by one length as public elect last time out over 1500m at this track. Norifumi Mikamoto scored on him last time and retains the ride. Stepping up a level this time but on current form he is one of the chief contenders. SEA SERPENT (7) has seven wins and five minor placings from 13 outings this preparation. Scored last start by 5 lengths at this track over 1400m after being up on the pace all the way. Meeting a deeper field this time but he is up to the challenge. SHADOW MONOLITHE (2) disappointed last start when out of the placings over 1600m at Kawasaki, beaten 5.5 lengths. Stepping up a level this time but on his best form he is capable of testing his rivals. BLACK OPAL (3) turned in another moderate effort last start when 22 lengths from the winner in eighth over 2000m at Kawasaki at the second run back from a spell. Seiji Yamazaki gets the best out of this five-year-old mare. Better than recent efforts suggest.
