TROPICUS @ VINERY STUD PLATE 1800m
Pace strong with Gentle Giant and Royal Princess leading with Rouladen nearby. STITZER (10) was well backed first up at Kembla Grange but was too bad to be true when getting pulled up in the lane. Has since gone back to the trials where he was pushed right out behind a few smart ones. Blinkers go on and Lloyd takes over. Sharp improvement anticipated. PRESUMPTUOUS GAL (8) was a big improver second up at Newcastle when charging home hard to just miss the bob over the mile. The rise to 1800m third up looks perfect for her now. GENTLE GIANT (1) gave a bold sight on debut at Kembla Grange, only to be collared late. He’s sure to have come on from that and gets Hyeronimus taking over. Expect them to hunt forward again and prove tougher to run down. ROULADEN (4) boasts a fitness edge and should land up on speed again. Should be in this for a long way and is a top-three chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Stitzer could prove too smart but can't let Presumptuous Gal go around without me. |

Just a small field but Caviar, Cotoletta Cut and Unhinged can ensure the pace is genuine. BECHERS (8) was well supported on debut at Newcastle and while she didn’t live up to market expectations, she was warming into it late after settling out the back. Drawn kinder this time and gets Schiller taking over. With a more positive ride she’ll prove tough to stop. UNHINGED (2) boasts strong formlines from his debut prep but was flat first up at Canterbury. The rise in trip suits and JMac takes over from a good draw. Can improve sharply. COTOLETTA CUT (3) sprinted quickly off a slow early tempo on debut when getting home well into third. Expect Berry to take him back from the wide draw and be letting down strongly late. Will be hoping the pace is genuine. ZOUDEADLY (9) has had plenty of chances but has efforts littered through his form that can play a role under the light weight. Could sneak a placing at a big quote. WONKA (4) will be hitting his straps third up on the quick back-up and deserves obvious respect. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cotoletta Cut each-way. |

Tricky, given the lack of early speed. LOW KEY (7) looks a promising filly returning for the Waterhouse & Bott camp. She battled on gamely into a midfield finish when thrown in the deep end on debut in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes back in April. Has trialled smartly in readiness and looks set for a bright return. ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (9) is a debutant filly that looks above average. Has trialled strongly in readiness and is drawn cosy. Should make her presence felt. MOVIE STAR (8) carries a fitness edge with two Wyong runs under her belt. Still improving and can play a role. THREADS (3) is also fit and gets Nash taking over. Not dismissing as a top-three hope. SUGGESTED PLAY: Low Key looks the one. |

Pierro Lad should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. COLUMBUS (5) dominated his rivals fresh and has been okay in his next two without paying his supporters. The rise to 1800m looks perfect fourth-up. Bold showing anticipated. MAZIS (2) hit the line nicely fresh without threatening the promising Mr Miller. Is sure to have come on from that and is another that will appreciate the rise in trip. FUNCHAL (1) returns. Didn't fire in her only run last time in but has jumped out well in readiness and if Price & Kent Jnr can get her back to her WA form she can have a good prep. MY CHARM (6) made light work of her rivals at Hawkesbury second-up and while this is obviously tougher, she deserves respect with more to offer. Can't knock the form of PIERRO LAD (3) who shoots for four on the bounce. Yet to be tested at this trip though. SUGGESTED PLAY: Columbus to win. |

IRRESISTIBLE POOLS AND SPAS HANDICAP 1550m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Darn Cute leading the way. DEEP PLEASURE (2) put it all together in great style last start when leading pillar-to-post for a dominant win. Expect Lloyd to push forward again from the low draw and prove very tough to run down. PIERATA’S GEM (6) is yet to strike through this prep but is knocking on the door. Strips rock-hard fit and should get a lovely trail in behind them from the good draw for Berry. KOOLIBAH (3) is a lightly raced 5YO mare resuming for the Waller camp. Has been fitted with two very quiet trials in readiness, but JMac’s booking signals intent. WAKU WAKU (8) is going better than her form reads and if they overdo it in front she might be able to cause a late scare at a big quote. SUGGESTED PLAY: Deep Pleasure to win again. |

Sphere to go to the lead at a genuine tempo. LIVE (6) is an intriguing runner resuming and making her stable debut for the Snowden camp. She’s tackled much stronger company than this to date and has had excuses throughout. Has impressed in her lead-up work and can make a bright return. CAFE AU LAIT (4) was well supported first up when just missing. She’s sure to have come on from that and keeps JMac. Deserves obvious respect. SPHERE (11) led pillar-to-post fresh when justifying the very short quote. Went amiss at Rosehill in a strong form race but got things back on track last time. Has more to offer. REGAL PROBLEM (7) made light work of her rivals first up at Gosford. Improvement to come and looks a genuine threat. SUGGESTED PLAY: Live to win. |

A small field that lacks a pacemaker. RIVENDELL (5) trialled sharply before resuming but has only been okay with a pair of fourths. Blinkers go on third up and JMac takes over. Bold showing anticipated. KOMODO DRAGON (7) is a promising gelding for the O’Shea & Charlton yard. Chased gamely into second behind Castlejohn when resuming. There’s a chance he’s already looking for further, but he’s got enough ability to have himself in the finish. SIRAGUSA (10) returns and has been fitted with two solid trials. Drawn to advantage and can make his presence felt. TOUGH GUY (3) has put two on the bounce and deserves obvious respect but this is tougher. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rivendell to win. |
