NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:00 Hygain Maiden Plate 1856m
Reasonable tempo with Always Tired probably leading but a few others should keep him honest. BIG SISTER AVA (9) goes on top. The debut run at Kilmore was strong when just finding one better before an even effort at Ballarat in a slowly run race where things got a bit messy. She should relish the rise in trip here and the wide draw at least means she can take her time to work across. BANXI (1) is still a maiden after 10 starts but was good here fresh and not far away last time in town. Seems to have come back well and should be ready to peak at the third run in. SIAM EMERALD (4) is going well in three runs this time in. He stuck on well last time at Pakenham and should be in this for a long way from the good gate. COSMIC (10) came home strongly last start to finish third, beaten one length, over 1620m at Donald when fresh. Fitter now for the suitable rise in trip and is in the mix. RUSSIAN ROYALTY (13) is lightly raced and on the right path, can figure in the minor money.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Big Sister Ava to win.
2 01:30 Carlton Draught 3YO Maiden Plate 1203m
Anticipating good pressure with many of these facing the starter for the first time. TOWER BRIDGE (7) was firmly in the market on debut at Caulfield Heath having been backed into $4.20, running a solid race there when fourth. He's a well-bred colt who should be better suited to 1203m here and with even luck from the wide gate he'll go close. VERY TORQUEE (8) has placed in all three runs to date, narrowly beaten into second at Wodonga, going down by a long neck. Going the right way and can break through. ZUBBA STORM (9) ran a good race on debut at Moe for third. Better for that and can roll forward to offset the wide gate. Can win with natural improvement. DIVINE BELLINI (11) is a first-starter by Too Darn Hot from Divine Choice for the Hayes yard. She's been jumping out nicely for this and is worth keeping safe. SUZE SPRITZ (14) was solid first up despite being beaten as favourite and has minor claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Tower Bridge to win.
3 02:00 Evolve Interiors 3YO Maiden Plate 1203m
Looks a keen contest with Millennium Blade and Miss Ellaneous pressing for the lead with Beau Strada and Dance Lady close at hand. MILLENNIUM BLADE (4) resumes looking very well placed. Three runs last time in were in good 2yo company, third in a high rating race on debut and placing in his next two thereafter. Comes back to a maiden for the first time and with even luck getting across from the gate he should go close. FORCEOFONE (2) struck a tough track at Pakenham second up and can be excused for going under at $1.90. The fresh run was good and he can bounce right back here. APRES (17) ran well on debut last start to finish third over 1100m at Kilmore. Better for that and has trialled well prior. Has claims. MISS ELLANEOUS (11) was just fair fresh at Geelong in a strong maiden, but the winner there has won a strong race since. She was in the market there and can improve quickly. TAN TAT ART (14) is a Flying Artie filly on debut who can run well.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Millennium Blade to win.
4 02:30 Midland Express 4YO+ Maiden Plate 1203m
Expecting The Secret to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. RATTLE'N'ROLL (6) resumes. Three runs last time in were good in some handy maidens that look largely stronger than what he faces here. Third to Surfin' Bird when fresh at Moe last time in is excellent form for this and with even luck from the gate he should go close. TOPMOST (7) resumes. He's another who's had a few chances but is largely consistent, only missing a place once which came on very heavy going at Sale before a spell. Draws better than the main danger and that could prove key. CINCINCITY (8) ran a good race fresh at this track when getting into fourth. Drawn wide here but she can push on and that run under the belt will hold her in good stead. POWERING AWAY (5) has placed in both runs to date and is open to further improvement from an ideal gate. LOWESTOFT (10) resumes having shown glimpses last time in. Not discounting.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Rattlle'n'roll to win.
5 03:00 Miranda Park 4YO+ Maiden Plate 1203m
Pace looks to be genuine with Rock Glory and Lawn Bowler matching motors in advance of Creditor and Ponte Arcobaleno. Tricky one, and with the exposed form looking a touch thin, GOTTALUVSPORT (9) goes on top. She's a mare by Impending on debut for the Matt Laurie yard who has won a jump out leading in. She draws for every chance and the bar doesn't look set overly high for one from a sharp yard. PONTE ARCOBALENO (5) was disappointing at Wodonga last time over 1400m having been consistent prior. Back in trip here should suit but he will need luck from the gate. OCEANELLA (10) resumes. She showed some ability last time in with a few minor placings in handy maidens. She too draws to get a fair way back which is the knock. WETLAND (15) has only raced twice to date and could be an improver now. BRAZEN FLING (7) is third up off two nice runs this time in and has claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Gottaluvsport to win.
6 03:30 Happy 70th Paul Egan Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate 1454m
Grand Millesime should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. GRAND MILLESIME (6) looks well placed to break through. Three runs to date have all been strong, just finding one better when in the market at Donald over 1350m, beaten a head. No issue going to the slightly longer trip here and she should get a lovely run near the speed. CARDAMOM (4) ran a good race on debut at Kilmore over 1200m when working home late. She should appreciate the rise in trip and looks a threat with natural improvement. GROOVY GRAN (7) is a filly by Toronado on debut for the Hayes yard. She's trialled well enough for this and looks well placed first time out. SOURCE OF DELIGHT (2) ran a solid race in tougher company first up at Pakenham behind a smart winner who has won a good race since. Fitter now and will take some beating. PRINCESS SAKIKO (9) was better last time and has claims off that.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Grand Millesime to win.
7 04:00 RMBL Investments Rising Stars Race 1454m
Savamoon has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. SAVAMOON (7) ran a solid race first up at Kilmore when beaten just over a length into third in a BM66, doing enough there to suggest he'd come back well. His form last time in progressed nicely and he'll strip fitter for this. QUEEN OF THE SURF (11) is coming way back in grade having tackled the Listed Twilight Glow at Caulfield last time out, well beaten but not terrible in sixth. The maiden win prior was solid and this is more her level. YAM (1) is racing okay without winning. The past couple have been good, and this is slightly easier than last time through the same race as Savamoon. FROZEN TIDE (6) was okay at this level last time and has minor claims while the consistent BRULLEN (12) can make use of the 3kg claim to give cheek in front.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Savamoon to win.
8 04:30 bet365 Top Finishes BM62 Handicap 1856m
Genuine tempo with Captains Choice and Storm Ahead up front. STORM AHEAD (8) looks well placed. He's off a short let-up into this but ran a strong race at Cranbourne when last seen, working home well for a narrow second. He lands in a great spot here from the low gate, likely just behind the leaders, and from there he'll go close. SUBTLE POWER (11) is ready to win fourth up. Her past two have been good when placing, only beaten a long neck at Pakenham over 1600m last time out. Up in trip now suits ideally and she draws to possibly pocket the main danger. SACRED EAGLE (1) has been good in the country cups scene of late. Back a fair way to a BM62 here, hence the weight rise, he too maps for a good run and can be competitive. WEATHER DELAY (9) was just fair second up off a solid return but can improve over more ground while AICHI ICON (2) is in great form although this is another step up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Storm Ahead to win.
9 05:00 Celestial Legend @ Woodside Park BM56 Handicap 1203m
Plenty of pace with Bold Response and Jessup leading from Bons To Riches. Tricky race. BOLD RESPONSE (1) has a big weight, tempered somewhat by the 4kg claimer. Don't love backing them with such little experience but he's better than this grade. He tried hard behind a Mornington 1000m specialist in Bazaball Rewarded first up and this is much easier. Assume the tactics will be to go handlebars down to the front and hope to cling on late, which he can do. ASIATIC (12) is one that can be flying late. She was just fair in a Class 1 at Pakenham last time but had been good winning her maiden here fresh and that form has worked out. Just not sure where she gets to. EVERY LITTLE THING (14) ran well fresh at Mornington for third. Stays at the same trip which is a little niggle but has each-way claims. DIVINE JUSTICE (8) resumes with a decent profile and this is easier than what she was facing last time in. JESSUP (4) next best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bold Response on top.
10 05:35 Hanging Rock New Years Day Races BM62 Handicap 1103m
Certain to be a strong tempo with Spiral Dream, The Carillo and The Wizard King leading the charge. EL TERCERO (4) finds a winnable race. He was beaten under two lengths when last seen in a stronger BM66 at Pakenham, now coming back to a BM62 having run well, again in tougher company, at this track two starts ago. Tricky draw but with even luck he'll be very hard to hold out. DEMARCATE (12) hasn't really fired in two runs back from a spell but will be fitter for them and this is easier than what he's been facing. Giving him one more from the ideal gate. VIASAIN (11) resumes. His form was mixed last time in but the best of it reads well. Like this trip for him and he's got the pace to roll forward. MARTY MCFLY (9) has won two on the bounce and has to be respected despite going up in grade again. MR ASSERTIVE (5) can give a sight having stuck on well in tougher company last time.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to El Tercero.
