NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:55 WELCOME BACK HOUSIE AT AVONDALE MDN 2100m
Good pace expected with Khando, Air Dancer and King Cabal paving the way. LUVABEEL (8) cost herself the win when missing the kick at Te Aroha 15 days ago, and then left her run too late, finishing second by a short-head as the hot favourite. The key here is the extra 500m on offer, and she should be the one to beat. Follow your money. CHARLEMAGNE (1) is knocking on the door for his first win, and was a sound runner-up at Te Aroha as the favourite 15 days ago. That field was fairly weak, and though there is more depth to this contest, he can still figure in the top 3 again. COMPLIMENTERRY (2) can be a touch dour in his races, and was battling on strongly here nearly a month ago when finishing fifth. The blinkers come off, and maybe a firmer surface can help him. Stick with him for all combinations. KHANDO (9) has turned a corner in her last couple of starts and was second at Taupo over 1800m last time out. The extra 300m is key, and she can challenge the top pick. KING CABAL (3) has been improving with racing. Each-way. MAGEE (5) is worth one last chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Luvabeel should be winning this.
2 12:29 AVONDALE MAINSTREET RATING 60 HCP 1200m
Looks to be plenty of pace with Karyon and We Found Love battling for the lead. GOLDILUXE (2) has found it hard to win another race and was runner-up as the favourite at Matamata, fresh up nearly 3 weeks ago at this level. She handles most track conditions, and he only success came on a good track. Follow your money. RIDGEVIEW VICKY (4) was brave in defeat when finishing close up in fifth place at Ellerslie 12 days ago. She slides down in grade, and if she can reproduce her last start effort here, then she will be right in the finish. WE FOUND LOVE (5) has had some issues and will be resuming from a spell that would have done her the world of good. She is suited to the pole position, and any market confidence is worth following up. NOTABADBERGS (1) will be dropping back in class from his last 3 starts. He has a good draw, and a form reversal is on the cards. KARYON (3) ran a better race for fourth at Matamata last time out and is peaking at the right time. The key here is Opie Bosson in the saddle, and the pair merits healthy respect.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Notabadbergs at each-way value.
3 01:04 ROSEBANK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION MDN 3YO 1200m
Many of these step out for the first time so a genuine tempo is expected. ARCTIC JEWEL (8) is making her debut off a recent trial win at Ellerslie. She has had plenty of trial experience and has needed time to mature. If the top training team of Walker/Bergerson think that she is ready, then she will be one of the favourites, and will be hard to beat. CHEEKY DEVIL (6) was put aside after a solid effort on debut as a juvenile. She was close up in a recent tune-up trial, and with any luck from a wide gate, she can figure in the top 4. BURNERPHONE (9) was brave on debut when finishing fifth at Taupo nearly 4 weeks ago. She has a nice swing in her draw this time and can improve quickly. HEY DANA (13) makes her debut from a good draw, and will be given every chance with Warren Kennedy in the saddle. Use the market as the best guide. GET ME AN ANGEL (10) makes her debut and will be well educated. She has shown talent at the trials, so watch closely.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Burnerphone can improve sharply at some value here.
4 01:39 ENTAIN/NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES 1200m
Sizzling pace from Honor The Name, Yousito and Shiniqua locking horns ahead of Unwritten and Best In Black. UNWRITTEN (1) showed potential early in her initial prep and will be a lot stronger after having a brief spell. A firmer surface would do her no harm, and in a modest lineup, she will be hard to hold out. WOMAN IN CHARGE (11) has been runner-up in both of her starts to date at Taupo. She is likely to settle right on the early pace, and her first win is not far away. SHINIQUA (13) set the pace but weakened badly in the run home on a very testing track here nearly a month ago. Her jockey that day reported that she was not stretching out correctly, and on what should be a firmer surface here, she can make amends. Follow your money. BEST IN BLACK (3) has lacked some strength in the past, and will be having her fourth start fresh up here as a 4-year-old. Her lead-up trial form is improving, and she will be ready to rumble. Each-way. MERILLIAN (2) won a trial before finishing well back in the same race as the third pick. She has a superior gate and can improve sharply. Include.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Shiniqua can do better, so stick with her on an each-way basis.
5 02:14 WESTBROOK WINES MDN 1400m
Zerre and Horrie have the pace to vie for the lead from their wide draws. LITTLE THIEF (3) was runner-up here in a trial before finishing a fair eighth in a stronger field at Ellerslie on debut there nearly 7 weeks ago. He has had some gear changes since then, including the addition of blinkers, and with an extra furlong on offer, he can finish a lot closer this time, if not win. HORRIE (1) followed up a fresh third with another third here nearly a month ago, both times on a heavy track. He cops a wide gate this time, but will still go close to taking this out, even on a firmer surface. BALLS OF FIRE (2) needed his first run back from a spell at Pukekohe 8 days ago. He usually improves with racing and will have the pole position here. Each-way value. MERRIAMA (14) won a trial prior to finishing third at Matamata nearly 3 weeks ago when making her debut. She cops a wide gate, but can still run into the money. GOTA HUNCH (7) struggled in the very heavy ground at Pukekohe last start. He will be spot-on third up, and he can replicate his debut third here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Little Thief is the one to beat in a modest field.
6 02:46 FUNTIME CATERING MDN 1400m
Pace a scorcher, headed by New Castle, Linkin Park and Moonbeams, closely followed by Elite Choice and Rocky Balboa. LINKIN PARK (2) has shown a lot of heart in his last couple of starts with a brace of second-place finishes to his credit, including a particularly tough run 5 days ago at Tauranga when racing keenly in front. If he can settle a touch better, then he will take them all the way here. SNEAKY CYCLONE (10) has improved in each of his runs to date and will have no fitness excuses third up from a spell. Craig Grylls sticks with him, and so do we. MANORBIER (3) found 1150m at Te Aroha too short for him just over a fortnight ago, and was safely held. The extra 250m is the key here, and he can bounce straight back into the money. FRENCH THINKER (13) resumes from a spell with a recent Ellerslie trial win under her belt. Let the market be your best guide.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Linkin Park can take them all the way here.
7 03:24 ENTAIN/NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES 1600m
From their wide draws Amaze Me and Wild Thing can establish a strong tempo. CHEERFUL SMILE (1) was a beaten favourite here just over 4 weeks ago on a very testing heavy track. She should strike a firmer surface here, and from the pole position, she can settle a touch closer to the pace than she has been recently. Follow your money. On top for us. ANOTHER FLOOZIE (5) was out of the money fresh up in a stronger field at Ellerslie but was not far off the winner that day. The blinkers go on, and the extra furlong is ideal. Stick with her for all multiples. DRAGON BLOSSOM (2) was third in 2 of her 3 starts last prep, and is resuming from a spell that would have done her the world of good. She benefits from a 3kg claim and is not out of this. WEE NESSY (13) strips fitter second up. Don't risk her.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Another Floozie at each-way value.
8 03:58 SAVE THE SUNDAY MARKETS RATING 60 HCP 1600m
Strong tempo with Sally, Mandalo and Guiding Light leading the way. TARZADOR (6) got back and then left her run too late over 1400m at Te Aroha 15 days ago over 1400m when starting near favourite. She is back out to a mile and more importantly, Opie Bosson will keep the ride. She can get the job done this time. DON PAULY (1) ran on late and only peaked late on his run when finishing third at Matamata last time out. He will be peaking at the right time, and in this company, he is always an each-way threat, especially if there is some cut in the ground. PROUDTOBEHERE (5) motored home once in the clear at Te Aroha last start against a few of these, and she strips fitter second up from a spell. The step up to a mile is ideal, and she can have the last say in this. GUIDING LIGHT (12) came to the end of her run late at Waverley as the favourite last start, and will drop 3kg here due to her racing out of her grade. She is well worth including in all combinations. BARCELONA (10) has been disappointing, but she is worth another chance in this sort of field.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Don Pauly each-way.
9 04:35 TULLOCH CAFE MEMBERS STAND RATING 65 BENCHMARK* 1400m
Expecting a strong gallop with Oppenheimer and Zenith taking up the running over Beetlegeuse. OPPENHEIMER (1) showed speed but faded when racing well out of his rightful grade second up at Ellerslie nearly 3 weeks ago. He was narrowly beaten at Te Rapa when resuming from a spell before that, and is the one to beat back in BM65 company here. SIR FERGUS (3) was given no chance fresh up at Ellerslie when settling too far back early on. Craig Grylls replaces an apprentice, and expect this gelding to be ridden more positively here. He is down in class and ready to bounce back. SOARING PENGSHAN (4) kicked up to lead here last time out, and then raced too keenly in front. Dropping back from a mile to 1400m is key, and he is worth another chance. BEETLEGEUSE (5) pulled too hard in front fresh up, and will have a senior hoop aboard second up. Include in all combos.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Oppenheimer can win this.
