NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:00 TCL Trophy 1700m
Anticipate Empire Of Pain, Saxon Beauty and Nursery Chime to set a strong tempo. We kick off a tough Oaks day with a wide-open race. FULL HAO (12) looks well placed to peak here for the lethal Waller/J-Mac combination. Two runs back in Sydney have been rock solid and she'll be better for them up to 1700m on the big track. FIRST CHORUS (11) is a progressive type who stuck on well at Geelong as favourite last time for second. The run prior behind a progressive type was good and with any luck from the wide gate she'll take beating. REALIKA (14) is knocking on the door with consecutive minor placings, good to the line at Sandown Hillside last time. The placing behind Surfin' Bird prior reads well. HOUSE OF LORDS (13) is a lightly raced mare who can bounce back off a disappointing run when firmly in the market at Pakenham.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Full Hao to win.
2 01:35 RDA Subzero Handicap 1400m
Chakado to take charge ahead of Statuario at a good tempo. Onto the Grey's race. CLOUDLAND (2) won this race last year as a $3 favourite. He's going well, beating the handy Lord Penman two back before trying hard at Randwick. No doubt a title defence would have been the plan for some time, he'll go close. STATUARIO (1) is back a long way in distance having run in the G3 Coongy Cup over 2000m last time. Not sure if he'll be sharp enough here but on ability he's just about got them covered. GETAFIX (5) hasn't fired in two runs back but his best form is certainly good enough if he can find it with McDonald on. BERKSHIRE SHADOW (4) is going okay for this, outclassed last time in a stronger race at Caulfield. Gets Zahra on from the inside gate which can see improvement.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Cloudland to win.
3 02:10 Inglis Bracelet 1600m
Solid tempo anticipated with Oh Diamond Lil heading them off. There was only a length between VERONA ROSE (2) and OH DIAMOND LIL (1) when they met at Newcastle in the G3 Tibbie Stakes. Verona Rose finished second on that occasion and started longer in the market but does meet her 2kg better at the weights and her form since has been better. Eighth to Autumn Glow in the Epsom was solid, fourth to Idle Flyer in a very fast G3 Angst Stakes last time reads well. Oh Diamond Lil has been poor in two since albeit not far away in the G2 Invitation last time. She lands on speed and can bounce back. KEEP YOUR COOL (4) continues to race well, trying hard behind Ndola last time. Gets Zahra aboard now and should take beating again. MOONLIGHT CIRCUS (9) is going well and is proven at a mile. Her run for third at Caulfield last time is solid form. SNEAKY SUNRISE (6) can improve third up out to 1600m and wouldn't surprise at all.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Verona Rose.
4 02:45 Good Friday Appeal Trophy 1800m
Genuine tempo with Al Duca leading the way. SHOCKLETZ (11) looks the horse to beat. She was a progressive staying 3yo over the Winter and resumed with plenty of dash at Sandown Hillside over a mile, sprinting quickly with 58kg to score well. She drops sharply in weight and more ground will only suit her better. Tipping she can go right on with it. AL DUCA (9) continues to race very well, run down by a progressive one at Caulfield last time out when carrying the big weight which he now drops right down in. Lane sticks with him from the good gate and he'll take some beating. FORTUNE (5) has won two of his past three and has to be respected. ZIRYAB (6) is through two fast races and could be an improver.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Shockletz.
5 03:20 Channel 9 Chester Manifold Stakes 1600m
Solid tempo with El Rocko leading from Major Beel and Oh Too Good. APULIA (3) was first up off a year-long spell at Moonee Valley but ran on for an impressive win, settling last on a quick track and powering home to score over 1496m. He should only be fitter for that rising slightly in trip and if the inside section is holding up he'll take beating. MAJOR BEEL (5) is one that can be an improver second up. He did enough fresh over the Randwick mile with 60kg when fading late, but his second-up form reads very well for this and any give in the ground will only suit better. OH TOO GOOD (6) is a consistent mare who keeps racing well, midfield in a G2 Crystal Mile last start. Sets up nicely from the gate here in a slightly easier affair. NEW ENDEAVOUR (1) resumes. He got over a bit further last time in but largely raced in good company and can run a race fresh.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Apulia & Major Beel.
6 03:55 Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Final (QC) 1600m
From the inside gate I Catchem Fox can show speed with Celsius Star and Kengero prominent. BIG SEXY (11) is the one with upside that can take this out. The first up win at Hamilton was very good as favourite before going under as favourite at Bendigo when settling outside the leader on a day it was beneficial to be on the rails. Drawn very wide but is the horse that can elevate significantly. DUBAI WATCH (8) is one that can run well at each-way odds, finding the line strongly in the Geelong qualifier last time out. Up to a mile suits and he can get the right run in the three-wide with cover line. GUERITE (6) beat Big Sexy in the Bendigo lead-up, given a great ride to do so. She's progressive herself and should relish this trip. CELSIUS STAR (1) was third at Bendigo with the big weight and has to have each-way claims again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Big Sexy to win.
7 04:30 Crown Red Roses Stakes 1100m
Vein Girl and O' Ole can be prominent. Keen to stick with POINT BARROW (7) who was an outstanding winner when last seen at Caulfield, getting a mile back off a strong tempo but rattling home with enormous sectionals to get up as a well-backed favourite. Back to 1100m is the slight niggle but the wide draw down the straight looks perfect for her to wind up. AKAYSHA (9) continues to race well in handy races, taking on the older mares last time at Caulfield in the Alinghi Stakes and running well for a narrow fourth. Her fresh placing to My Gladiola (Coolmore 2nd to Tentyris) over this track and trip reads very well. SURF'S UP (10) was run down by Point Barrow last time and has to be a chance, while TRES MAGNIFIQUE (17) had no luck there and has had no luck since. Barrier one the niggle for her but the straight should suit.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Point Barrow to win.
8 05:10 Crown Oaks 2500m
Strong pace with Just A Journey and The Pearls driving across from their wide draws. Over to our feature of the day, the G1 VRC Oaks. It's hard to go past GETTA GOOD FEELING (1) who was heavily supported to win the G2 Wakeful Stakes on Saturday, never looking like losing there after tracking the speed and sprinting clear to win softly. She has to run the 2500m now but gets absolutely every chance to do so from barrier four and deserves to be in the red. THE PEARLS (2) might be the danger coming through the G1 Spring Champion, third there behind two talented colts. She should relish the trip and the J-Mac/Waller combination has to be respected. STRICTLY BUSINESS (7) was 1400-2000m in the Wakeful but ran very well behind the favourite and should improve off that. VOTING RIGHTS (10) was better in the Wakeful and should take some catching on speed. JUST A JOURNEY (4) is a bit of a query at the trip but going well.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Getta Good Feeling/The Pearls quinella.
9 05:50 NYE at Flemington Century Stakes 1000m
Strong tempo primarily from Manolo Bling, Trembles and Stokke over Sir Now and Rich Dottie. Handy little sprint. REY MAGNERIO (1) stays at 1000m having won the Caulfield Sprint first up, nearly a tragedy beaten when held up before charging through a late gap to win impressively. He's better over slightly further but finds a very winnable race for his level of ability and all things equal he should be too strong late. PRAIRIE FLOWER (10) is going okay and the straight should suit her turn of foot if she can land close enough. MANOLO BLING (12) is suited at 1000m first up with come competitive numbers at the distance. She goes well fresh and can land up on speed with Tim Clark booked to ride. STOKKE (14) and TREMBLES (15) are both speedy mares suited at 1000m. There wasn't much between the pair two back and both have some claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Rey Magnerio to win.
