NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:40 GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1350m
Without a designated pacemaker it will probably turn into a dash home. The babies kick us off. LONESOME SOUL (3) resumes here but the form she showed in her first preparation was good enough for a race like this. Goes well for hoop Baker who has a win and a second from just two steers and again gets the benefit of her 2kg claim. A strong showing while fresh would not surprise. BENEFITSOFMINE (1) just ran into one better on debut before being tipped out for further time to furnish. Has since returned with a strong Gold Coast victory and should appreciate the extra trip here. Looms as the main danger. WANNABE BRUTAL (2) shed the maiden tag last time out and will have derived a stack of confidence from that win. In the mix. ZOU ZOU JENNIKA (7) next in line.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Quinella 3,1,2.
2 12:15 VINCE INSURANCE Class 3 Handicap 1710m
Solid tempo headed by Simply Fun and Flying Bat. The well-related SIMPLY FUN (2) (half to G2 winner Sassy Boom) has been thereabouts in all three outings this campaign and will be ready to peak now fourth-up from the break. Is one from one around this circuit and can play a major role in the outcome. CARRAVILLA (3) got an overdue victory at the latest effort and will take some confidence from that win. Top-three credentials. STAR CHANCE (8) doesn't win out of turn but draws the inside marble and may earn some minor money. PLANNED ENCOUNTER (7) is a last-start winner who shouldn't be slept on while FLYING BAT (4) gets in light with the claim.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Simply Fun.
3 12:50 URBAN PRECINCT PLANNING QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1100m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Kodomari leading the way. WHISPERING ROGUE (3) hails from a handy family (half to 2xG2 winner and G1 placed Whispering Brook) and was a close-up second at Doomben on debut. Was then given time to mature and has since had two solid trials in preparation for this. Should get a gun run from gate three and rates the testing material against this line-up. SAXOBUSHI (2) strips fitter second-up from the spell and draws the inside marble. Top-three prospect with natural improvement. MAGIC INVADER (11) was well found on debut and where there's smoke there's fire. Keep safe. SHARPOY (9) looks to be improving with racing and may earn some minor money. CRYPTO MISS (6) is a first-starter from the Lipp barn and any market confidence must be noted.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Whispering Rogue to go one better.
4 01:25 TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1100m
Cracking tempo with Wax On Wax Off and Anabia leading the way. The well-named WAX ON WAX OFF (3) looks to be improving with racing and should be ready to peak now third time at the races. Top-three contender. MISS LEANA (7) has placed three of four overall and gets the services of Jones in the irons. Don't underestimate. METALCRAFT (1) will be better for that debut effort and is worth some consideration. YEAH BUDDY (4) placed on debut and Tilley sticks in the saddle. May trouble the judge. UNFAITHFUL (10) missed the placings on debut then didn't feature last start when tenth over 1000m at Sunshine Coast. Look for an improved run here with the added fitness.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 3,7,1,4.
5 02:05 THE SHED COMPANY IPSWICH QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100m
Expecting Ciphertext to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sharp trip. CIPHERTEXT (4) is knocking on the door of a maiden victory finishing runner-up in four of her past five outings. Maps well from gate three and should give backers a sight. CHAMPAGNE TOWER (15) has placed one from one around this circuit and strips fitter second-up from the spell. In the mix. Former Victorian CORONATION DAY (8) is having her first run for the new stable and any market confidence must be respected. DAY TO REMEMBER (13) has placed two from two around this circuit and will be at peak fitness for this. May make his presence felt. LUCKY MAN (16) best of the rest from the inside alley.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ciphertext to break through.
6 02:40 BARRIER REEF POOLS Maiden Handicap 1710m
A solid tempo on the cards with Papal Wars heading them off. SKORPIOS ISLE (7) put in a career-best performance when a close-up second over this track and trip at the latest effort and looks to be working up to a maiden victory. Graham sticks in the saddle and rates a genuine top-three candidate on that last run. PISTON REBEL (3) hit the frame on debut and will have come on with that outing now under the belt. Certainly cannot be discounted. PAPAL WARS (4) gets 2kg weight relief with the claim and will be at peak fitness for this. Looks one for the exotics players. BERTUS (9) gets the services of Cartwright in the saddle and is next in line in a race with a long tail.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Quinella 7,3,4.
7 03:15 LIVING TURF BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 2210m
Kovanos and Tarex look to bowl along in front. One for the stayers. TAREX (1) has won two of his past three starts with the only failure coming in the Gatton Cup two back. Boasts a win around this circuit and will be rock-hard fit for this. Has the ability to score again. NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP (5) has a solid record here with a win and two placings from six spins and will appreciate the step-up to the 2210m now. Sure to prove tough to hold out. DEMARCAY (6) got the job done over this track and trip last time out and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Respect from the Waller yard. JUNGLE JET (3) is one from one over this distance range and is one for the exotics players. SLY CORNER (2) rounds out the selections.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Tarex.
8 03:55 THE IPSWICH TRIBUNE QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200m
There should be a bit of pressure with Diamond Epic and What A Doozy pressing forward in advance of In Great Spirit and Azafran. JOPPA LANE (2) wasn't too far away in Saturday metro company last time out and should find this assignment much more to his liking. Has only missed a drum once in five attempts over this six-furlong journey and is one from one over this track and trip. Should be right there when the judge calls a halt. Former Victorian GRAMMAR LAD (1) was well in the betting at his first run for the new stable and where there smoke there's fire. Respect any push in betting. DIAMOND EPIC (6) resumes here but the form she showed in her first preparation stacks up for a race like this. Can return a winner. ALLY (7) has placed one from one over this track and trip and may earn some minor money. AVIOR (9) is a last-start winner that shouldn't be forgotten despite the wide draw.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Joppa Lane to salute.
9 04:35 GORDON'S GIN BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100m
Zatanna is expected to lead at a slick tempo. LAVONI (13) is a very consistent commodity who has remarkably never missed the top-five in 14 career outings. Boasts a handy first-up record with a win and a second from three attempts and is expected to run a big race while fresh. ARALETTA (6) strips fitter third-up from the break and should get a cosy run from the inside marble. In the mix in a race decimated by scratchings. RUSTIC TZAR (9) put back-to-back wins together before the spell and may continue the picket fence here with Mallyon staying on top. ZATANNA (4) has respectable first-up form and is one from one around this circuit. Worth serious consideration.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Lavoni on top.
