NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:00 RACECOURSE VILLAGE Maiden Handicap 1110m
Power Of Success should find the front with Winchman and Brazen Act on his heels. BRAZEN ACT (1) has been consistent without winning, placing in eight of 11 overall but may have found the right race here. Has placed two from three around this circuit and will be ready to peak now third-up from the spell. Can finally get the maiden out of the way. WINCHMAN (2) is unlucky to still be a maiden finishing runner-up in six of eight starts to date and strikes a very winnable contest. Gets 3kg off from the inside alley and should be going very close. POWER OF SUCCESS (3) resumes but the form he showed when last in work was good enough for a race like this. Tuned up for this with a dominant trial win and rates a genuine top-three contender while fresh. Former Victorian SMART SHAZZA (7) looked good finishing second in her local debut and will have come on with that run now in the locker. In the mix. CLIODHNA MAEVE (9) next in line at odds.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Brazen Act to break through.
2 12:33 TEDDY BEARS PICNIC 2 AUGUST QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a solid tempo. Tricky race to line-up with many of these babies facing the starter for the first time. QUICKZOU (5) is one of those but has shown ability at the trials and is sure to be well-educated from the Gollan yard. Gets Maloney back on board for race day and any push in betting must be respected. The well-bred ANDERS' STYLE (1) (dam was a Listed winner and G3 placed) has won both trials and draws the inside alley. Has to be included in calculations. CERETTI (18) placed at Eagle Farm on debut and will come on with that race experience now in the locker. Top-three credentials. ZARLA (17) next best with the claim from the low draw.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Quickzou to debut a winner.
3 01:08 SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1350m
Strong tempo headed by Imminent Boom who can hold the lead from an inside draw, joined by Imperial Red and The Adjusta. NOIRE EMPEROR (3) didn't measure up in Group 3 company last time out but is sure to find this assignment much more to his liking. Had been knocking on the door in the three runs prior to that and a strong showing would not surprise. The well-related TSZYUYA (13) (half to G2 winner Amazonian Lass) returned in fine fashion with a solid second here and Jones sticks in the saddle. Can go one better against this lot. PRAISE YOU (4) has hit the frame at the past couple and looks to be improving with racing. Respect the Gollan/Maloney combination from the favourable draw. IMPERIAL RED (2) strips fitter second-up from the spell and may earn some minor money.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Noire Emperor to appreciate the drop back in grade.
4 01:43 MEKKA RACEDAY 16 AUGUST Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Handicap 1350m
Moderate tempo expected with Facundo likely to find the front over Russian Sub and Barello. The penny has dropped for FACUNDO (2) who has strung back-to-back wins together and is racing with a lot of confidence of late. Should be able to sit up on speed from the favourable draw and will give backers a sight. FLYWHEEL (4) has been just behind the placegetters at the past couple and looks to building up to another victory. Capable of a strong showing. LOCH AWE (9) didn't handle Group 3 grade last time out but the three placings prior were good enough for a race of this calibre. Top-three aspirations. BARELLO (6) strips fitter third-up from the break, draws the inside alley and gets 1.5kg weight relief with the claim. Ticks a few boxes. RUSSIAN SUB (1) has only missed a drum once in six starts over this distance range and may trouble the judge again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 2,4,9,6.
5 02:18 COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW Class 1 Plate 2060m
Khant Quit should be able to comfortably find the front. TRUMP CARD (5) has been right there at the past few outings and will be rock-hard fit for this. Only needs some luck navigating from the sticky draw to be playing a major role in the outcome. Former Victorian LINAS REEL (3) shed the maiden tag when having the first run for the new stable and will have derived a stack of confidence from that victory. Can go right on with the job now. WEONA REDWOOD (10) got the maiden out of the way last time and gets Maloney on from the low draw. In the mix. ROAD TO PARADISE (12) just found one better first-up and will be better for that hit-out. Shapes as one to consider. BOLD BLAZE (6) rounds out the selections in a race with only a handful of chances.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 5,3,10,12.
6 02:53 XXXX GOLD Class 5 Handicap 1660m
Strong tempo expected from Whistling Spirit, Drialle and Googaz. DIANA'S AFFAIR (4) was a touch disappointing at the latest effort but go on the two solid back-to-back wins prior. Has won over this track and trip and should be hitting the line with gusto. NATIONAL CHOICE (1) has a handy record around this circuit with a win and two seconds from just four spins and looks to have returned to form following that last-start runner-up finish. Gets plenty of weight relief with the 3kg claim and should be going very close. Former Kiwi SPORTING CHANCE (2) wasn't too far off them when having his first local start and will have derived a bunch of benefit from that hit-out. Can improve sharply. WONDERLAND STAR (9) brings different NSW formlines to the table and must be respected from the Dunn yard. Keep safe.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Diana's Affair to bounce back.
7 03:28 SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200m
Expecting Certainlycan to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. TRANQUIL BAY (9) resumes here but has revved up for this with a recent trial and has placed four of six when first-up. Is a three-time winner over this six-furlong journey and looks a definite winning hope at odds. CERTAINLYCAN (6) may have suffered from the dreaded second-up syndrome last time out and is definitely better than that run suggests. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and can bounce right back to form in this contest. DRANG A TANG (2) has put back-to-back victories together and it's hard to knock winning form. Top-three conveyance. LION CLASS (4) will be rock-hard fit for this and may trouble the judge with luck in running. GREAT ASPIRATIONS (13) next best with the Gollan/Maloney combination.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Tranquil Bay each-way.
8 04:03 LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1350m
Hello Lovely should lead but there are a few other speedy types who can keep her honest. Competitive affair. MISTER BIANCO (1) just missed the placings at the latest outing with that effort following an impressive hat-trick of victories. Has only missed a place once in four starts around this circuit and gets the services of Maloney in the irons. Can bounce right back to the winners' stall. The well-related TEN GOOD REASONS (10) (half to G2 winner and 2xG1 placed Osipenko) is yet to put in a poor one and looks the runner in this field with the most upside. Top-three credentials. SAVOUR THE DREAM (2) has a couple of duck eggs next to his name but those failures came at Group 1 level. This is a much easier assignment. HELLO LOVELY (15) presents some value on the minimum from the low draw.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 1,10,2,15
9 04:38 LADBROKES BLACKBOOK Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap 1350m
Expecting Kamariya to take up the running with Kickatinalong and Simply Amazing close at hand. Open race to close out the card. KICKATINALONG (3) is yet to miss a place in five career starts and will be better for that first-up placing around this circuit. Drawn to get a cosy run in transit from gate two and gets 3kg weight relief with Thorburn's claim. Should be right there when the whips are cracking. WALSH BAY (4) resumed with a good Gold Coast win and will have come on with that run now in the locker. Top-three commodity on best form. FLYING SHELLY (7) is a last-start winner who must be respected from the Vandyke barn. In the mix. SIMPLY AMAZING (10) has hit a purple patch with back-to-back victories and shouldn't be underestimated.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Kickatinalong to salute.
