NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:15 PIERE STRYDOM 5600 WINNERS & COUNTING JUVENILE PLATE 1600m
REDLIGHTGREENLIGHT (6) has produced two decent runs to date. He returns from a spell during which time he would have strengthened up. He is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1600m. If jumping on terms, he can go one better. RED PENNY (2) is better than his last start run would suggest. His form prior to that outing was good. He should have no issues with the rise to 1600m and has each-way claims. MIGHTY EAGLE (1) finished third in his penultimate run on this course. If putting his best foot forward, he should be involved at the finish. SINGLETON SAM (3) set the pace over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time, found another kick and won with ease. Gavin Lerena retains the ride, and the pair merit healthy respect.
2 12:50 PIERE STRYDOM MEMBER OF 300 WINS IN-A-SEASON CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
ICONIC WINTER (1) challenged strongly over 1160m at Turffontein last time, but found one too good on the day. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The daughter of What A Winter is a progressive type and may be the horse to beat. BLUSHING BLOOM (4) has shown improvement in each of her races to date. She raced from just off the pace last time, but found one too good on the day. She is coming along the right way and should be competitive. EMPRESS WU (2) has finished second in her last four starts. She raced from just off the pace last time but found one too good on the day. Is in the mix. CYBER SPIRIT (3) challenged strongly over 1000m at Turffontein last time. If repeating that effort in this field, she can finish in the placings.
3 01:25 STRIKER & JJ THE JET PLANE TAKE ON HONG KONG IN 2010 MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
XENOPHON (1) has run three good races to date. He showed speed over this distance at Scottsville last time, but did not go on with the effort in the latter stages. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him when it matters most. SILVER LONGSWORD (2) stayed on when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Has each-way claims. POWER OF PEARLS (11) produced an encouraging debut effort over 1000m at Turffontein last start. She returns from a spell during which time she would have strengthened up. She should give the males a decent run for their money. CAPTAIN FRANK (8) ran a fair race over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He is a progressive type and has place prospects.
4 02:00 LONDON NEWS - STRYDOM'S 1996 DURBAN JULY TRIUMPH MAIDEN PLATE 1600m
RADIO STAR (8) stayed on well at the finish when fifth against winners over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He finished second in his first two career outings. He will love the rise to 1600m. He is back in Maiden Company and should be the horse to beat. MATROOSBERG (7) showed very good improvement when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders. LUWAK (6) was in need of his debut effort when third over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be right there at the finish. BALERION (2) is an unraced son of Wings Of Desire from the Tony Peter stable with Kobeli Lihaba in the saddle. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.
5 02:35 TUDOR RULLAH 1990 STRYDOM'S GREATEST RIDE MAIDEN PLATE 1600m
BABETTE'S FEAST (8) ran an encouraging race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein last start. She found betting support and would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1600m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat. WITCHING HOUR (10) found one too good on the day last start. She is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders. NKWENKWEZI (2) has finished second in her last four starts. She has finished second three times and third once from as many starts over this distance. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and she merits healthy respect. MATTIAZO (3) set the pace over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time and stayed on well to finish third. She is having her peak run today and must be included in exotic bets.
6 03:10 IN MEMORY OF BAREND BOTES FM 97 DIVIDED HANDICAP 1450m
MISS LIA (3) returns from a 26-week spell which would have done her the world of good. She won her only attempt over this course and distance and if not in need of the run, she may be hard to peg back. DESTINY OF FIRE (8) has fair recent form lines to her name. She finished second in her only attempt over this distance. She resumes from a spell and if not in need of this run she should be fighting out the finish. BLIND AMBITION (5) ran a fair race over 1400m at Turffontein last time. She won her only attempt over this distance. She runs well for Jason Gates and cannot be discounted. HONG KONG (9) placed second last start at Turffontein Inside and should be prominent in the running. Can place.
7 03:45 CHAMPION'S DAY SIX - STRYDOM'S UNFORGETTABLE HAUL FM 82 DIVIDED HANDICAP 1450m
TOO LATE MY MATE (1) showed some signs of a form return over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She takes a big drop in class. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her when it matters most. WHIRLYBIRD (5) stayed on well when fifth of 12 over 1200m on the Greyville polytrack last time. Has each-way claims. WAY TO BURN (3) set the pace over 1400m last time and stayed on well to finish fifth. She has dropped to a competitive rating and can finish in the placings. LADY SABRINA (2) is better than her last start run on the Greyville polytrack would suggest. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts on this course. With a bit of luck in the running she would not be a shock winner.
8 04:20 STRIKER'S SEVEN WINS IN A DAY, TWICE IN HIS CAREER MR 72 HANDICAP 1450m
PALACE PRINCE (5) took on stronger rivals in his last start. He followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 1400m. He drops back in class and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle rates highly. AFTER HOURS (3) was unlucky not to have won his last start over 1400m as he was tightened for running room from the 400m mark to the 200m mark. Piere Strydom retains the ride and with luck in the running, he should be competitive. ACROSS THE BOW (8) ran a fair race over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Worth considering. CRESCENDO (2) is back from a spell and does race well when fresh-up, including a win to launch last prep over 1400m at this track. Has each-way claims.
9 04:55 THE LEGEND PIERE STRIKER STRYDOM RODE THE PICK 6 IN JULY 1990 FM 76 HANDICAP 1000m
SUMMER WINTER (1) followed up her maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1200m on the Greyville polytrack last start. She raced from a handy position, moved up well before getting outrun late. She finished second in her only attempt over this course and distance. This is Piere Strydom's last ride before retirement and he will be looking to go out on a winning note. DEAL MAKER (5) produced a decent first run in South Africa. She would have come on from the outing and will strip much fitter. PREDATRICE (4) showed improvement when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. If confirming her recent improvement, she should be figuring in the finish. GAELIC DANCER (7) ran fifth of 11 last time out at Greyville All Weather when well supported. Jumps form an inside draw and has top-three claims.
