Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he has the ability to mix it with them. CURLY JAMES (6) came from a long way back last start and found one better, beaten a nose, in a far better performance at Melton over 1720m. Has the class to take this out. ALTA WILLIAM (1) disappointed last time when eighth over 2270m at this track. Can bounce back. CAPTAIN TOM (2) is worth some thought after his last-start fifth over 2300m at Menangle on May 24.
