TASMAN AGRICULTURE 2000m
Don Valentino and Blueridge to battle for the leading role. LITTLE THIEF (1) battled hard when finishing fourth at Omoto 3 days ago. He strips fitter second up, and with some gear changes, and Tina Comignaghi in the saddle this time, he is the one to beat for us. BLUERIDGE (2) was scratched on Sunday to be held back for this. He is likely to go forward early on, and with a 3kg claim, he will be hard to peg back. THE BOSS GIRLS (6) is still a touch weak but is good enough to win a race like this. She is best when saved up for the one run, and with a trip to suit her, she can win this. DON VALENTINO (5) did not go much on debut over 1200m and will step up to 2000m 2 weeks later. The winkers go on, and don't sell him short in this field. MALEVO (3) will be peaking third up, and with an extra 600m to travel this time, he can improve quickly. SUGGESTED PLAY: Little Thief is the one to beat. |

FAHEY CONTRACTING 1020m
Teemoo is the likely leader at a slick tempo. TEEMOO (1) ran on stoutly fresh up 3 days ago at Omoto and will be spot on for this assignment. He was made favourite last time out and is set to put the record straight. On top for us. FORSETI (3) gave a good sight in front at Omoto on Sunday and clung on bravely for third. If she can cope with the quick backup, then she may take them all the way here. LIL CHARMER (5) has had a couple of runs back from a spell in the North Island and should find this easier. She benefits from a good gate, and with the aid of a 3kg claim, she can figure in the top 4 this time. MODETTE (7) has been freshened up since finishing fifth on debut in the spring. She is a quick improver from the in-form Pittman stable. SAN RENO (9) is on debut, and any money for him must be respected. SUGGESTED PLAY: Teemoo can take this out. |

R.J MCCANN & G J KENNEDY 1020m
Expecting Patsy Spirit to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. PATSY SPIRIT (3) looked to be travelling like a winner before going wide on the final turn at Kurow 8 days ago, letting the eventual winner slip underneath and win. He has a positive jockey change this time, and if he can cope with the drop back from 1400m to 1020m, then he is the one to beat.
THEDREAMSNOTOVER (1) cruised home to score by over 3 lengths at Omoto on Sunday, and if he can repeat that effort, then even with a weight rise, he can repeat the dose. GOLDEN HARVEST (5) is a durable veteran who was a game fourth at Omoto 3 days ago, and he will have no trouble with the quick backup. He has the pole position and is worth including in all combinations. GROVE STREET (6) finished his last run off with purpose when finishing third at Kurow 8 days ago. Dropping back in trip is a bit of a query, but he is still a must for all top 4 combos. JETSTREAM (2) resumes from a spell and should be a lot stronger this prep. His stable runs hot on the coast, so stick with him. Each way. SUGGESTED PLAY: Patsy Spirit to win. |

THANKS GRAEME NEYLON 1400m
Genuine tempo from Noivern leading Decreed. RUBIROSA (3) showed talent in a couple of starts earlier in the season and had won a trial before that. He will be a lot stronger this year, and if he doesn't need the run, then he will be the one to beat, especially with Tina Comignaghi in the saddle. SAILOR SAM (4) needed the run when racing greenly at Kurow 8 days ago. He will be peaking third up from a spell, and with the advantage of the pole position, he can make amends. Each way value. NATURE RESERVE (5) raced on the pace and just failed to stay 1800m at Kurow 8 days ago, and she is expected to do much better over a shorter trip this time. Go again. NOIVERN (2) did not do much 3 days ago but meets a very poor field here. Include in all combinations. DECREED (8) made up solid late ground at Kurow last time out over 1200m, and the extra furlong will be ideal, so stick with him, especially in a soft field like this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rubirosa can win this. |

THE BLACKADDER BROTHERS 1400m
Reasonable tempo with Fakeittillumakeit probably leading but a few others should keep him honest. LEINSTER (2) was a touch flat at Omoto 3 days ago and only battled home for sixth. Tina Comignaghi picks up the ride here, and he will be a lot sharper. Stick with him on top here. CRUNCHIE BOY (1) ran on too late after getting back from a wide gate at Wingatui 12 days ago over a mile. He has a good record over this shorter trip, and from a better gate with the aid of a 3kg claim, he can bounce straight back into the money. KAISEDA (7) has been below her best since finishing second at Riccarton in November. She is not out of this, especially on a wet track. PORTHOUSE LADY (6) did nothing off a wide gate at Omoto on Sunday, but with less weight to carry, and a better draw, she can figure in the top 4 this time. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leinster can win this. |

DAWSONS HOTEL 1400m
Reasonable tempo with Le Rogier probably leading but a few others should keep him honest. POSSESS (2) was too strong at Omoto 3 days ago, and the Myers stable normally has no trouble with the quick turnaround in races. He has a good draw, and in a field that is not much harder, he is set to repeat the dose. SPEED DIAL (3) chased home a very smart mare at Omoto on Sunday, and in this easier field with only a kilo more to carry, she will be hard to hold out. The only query is the 3-day backup. TOUGH TIME (1) fought hard off a tough trip from a wide gate at Ashburton a fortnight ago, and from a kinder draw this time, he can figure in the top 3. GRAND CRU (4) kept up a strong gallop when making her mid-race move at Omoto 3 days ago, and she will be peaking third up from a spell. If this race has not come too soon for her, then she can run into the money again. Include. LE ROGIER (5) has had a gear change since his last effort that left a lot to be desired. He is better than that and is worth another chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Possess and Speed Dial to quinella this race. |

VERNON & VAZEY 0800 TRUCK PARTS 1400m
Magnastar has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. TEXAS (5) has recently joined the Kevin Myers stable and is having his first run on the West Coast circuit. If he can repeat his Ellerslie win in the spring, then he would be too good for this lot. He has a good gate and is perfectly placed at the weights. On top. DIMAGGIO (1) has been running on strongly as usual in his last 3 starts, and with the right run into the race, he can have the last say and break his win drought. MAGNASTAR (3) is heading the right way this prep and fought on bravely to finish third at Omoto 3 days ago. Stick with him for all top 4 combinations. ON SONG (6) did not do much at Omoto on Sunday, but will have the blinkers on this time, and from the pole position, he should not be risked. TO CATCH A THIEF (8) faded out after having a good trip on Sunday, but that was his first run since November 15. Don't sell him short from a good draw. Each way value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Texas can win this fresh up, and To Catch A Thief is worth considering at odds. |

BIRCHFIELD ROSS MINING REEFTON CUP 1400m
Plenty of pace established by Charm Manhattan, Illicit Dreams and Ears Back, with La Bella Nera close at hand. ILLICIT DREAMS (2) set the pace at Cromwell just over 5 weeks ago and battled on gamely to finish third as the favourite. She drops 4kg from that run after a claim, and around this track, she should take all sorts of pegging back. SAY SATONO (3) has raced her way back into form and followed up her Cromwell win with a sound third at Kurow 8 days ago. Stick with her, especially with Tina Comignaghi taking over the reins. CHARM MANHATTAN (8) has won his only start on this track, and he steps up in trip. He will make it interesting early on, as he usually likes to lead in his races. 1400m is a query, but with a senior hoop replacing an apprentice this time, he could be rated to win. LA BELLA NERA (4) has won here over the trip and is much better than her last run suggests. She can settle just behind what will be a hot pace, and she can have the last say. Each-way value. SUGGESTED PLAY: La Bella Nera each-way value. |

GREG DALY REAL ESTATE 2000m
A solid tempo on the cards with Goddess heading them off. KICK ON (1) only missed out by a nose against a top mare at Omoto 3 days ago and will secure the run of the race from the ace draw here. He is as tough as they come, and in this easier grade, he can go one better. SHEAF (3) cruised home at Omoto on Sunday when scoring in BM65 class over this trip by more than 3 lengths. She is more than capable of dealing with this field as well. SACRED DREAM (2) fought on gamely when finishing fourth at Omoto 3 days ago in the same race as the top pick. She handles any track conditions, and another honest effort is on the cards. DA VINCI GIRL (8) did not fire off a wide draw last time out but is worth another chance in this. WAL (9) likes to tease us and made ground at Omoto on Sunday to keep us hooked. One more chance for us at odds. SUGGESTED PLAY: Kick On should win, and maybe Wal can run into the top 3 placings. |
