NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:30 Global Turf Maiden Plate 1000m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a genuine tempo. REGINA DEI RE (7) resumes and three-back placed here on debut. She's prepared well for her return and won a recent Tatura trial easily. John Allen is a positive jockey engagement. Has the race form/experience and is ready to go. PULL MY FINGER (3) debuts and she's shown good ability in a string of jumpouts stretching back to January. The gate is a touch awkward but Egan is booked and a bold run is on the cards. COSMIC VIXEN (5) draws out a touch but has also prepared well for her debut. She has to be kept well onside. TIPSY GYPSY (9) debuts and placed in a recent Flemington jumpout. Keep an eye on the late betting.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Regina Dei Re on what we've seen.
2 02:00 Eureka Concrete Maiden Plate 1000m
Good early pressure anticipated with a large contingent of first starters. Tricky. ROSANGELA (10) resumes for a leading stable and brings strong form from tougher races. Her two jumpouts have been sharp and Mertens sticks from those. Races forward and she rates the one to beat. THAT'SMONEYBROTHER (4) is also in good hands and can build on his 1.3L defeat at Geelong on debut. Ethan Brown is a key jockey engagement. ESPANA (6) impressed her brief Maiden preparation in better city contests and has jumped out well for her return. Draws inside and Jamie Melham stays with her. A key player. MOTORSPORTS (9) debuts for the McEvoy yard and jumps from the inside barrier. Placed in a recent Flemington jumpout and the stable has a sharp record with newcomers.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Rosangela.
3 02:30 Brandt Maiden Plate 1500m
Doubt they will go too hard without a noted leader engaged. JAGUAR PAW (9) presents fitter and had excuses beaten 3L on the Sandown-Hillside last time. Was well supported in that and the extra metres will suit. Is ready to win. TIVACI CODE (12) had a tough run at Kilmore on debut and will be better for it. Maps for a soft run today and he's been briefly freshened. John Allen is a key jockey switch. THE BLONDE BOMBER (4) is third-up and the well-bred galloper is worth including on an each-way basis. Has a low gate and the 1.5kg claim is handy. IL PENSEROSO (1) was in the market at Bendigo first-up but disappointed (vet cleared). He'd won a jumpout leading into that and Bates goes aboard today. Will have taken fitness and a much better effort is likely.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Jaguar Paw appeals most.
4 03:00 Raceday Medical Maiden Plate 1400m
Just a moderate tempo given the absence of pacy gallopers. NARAGHI (10) improved sharply beaten 2L at Geelong and there was plenty of merit in the effort. Has the tongue tie applied for the first time and will present at peak. A solid each-way chance. WHITE HOT MAMA (11) looked a run short at Tatura on debut and has been kept on the fresh side. Has an awkward gate but Jamie Melham's booking suggests she's pleasing and a sharper run is on the cards. M'LADY ROSE (9) debuts for the local McEvoy yard and placed second at Flemington in her most recent jumpout. The yard gets them going early and Currie rides. She'll also need a touch of luck from the gate.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Naraghi each way.
5 03:30 Manhari BM66 Handicap 1400m
Without frontrunners engaged Tiz Time gets the chance to lead. CHEWING GUM (7) brings placing from Mornington and Sandown-Hillside and with the extra fitness is well placed to win. Ethan Brown sticks aboard from those and she should enjoy a cosy run. In a leading yard and should have them covered. BOLTSAVER (1) didn't get into it after a slow start at Benalla in a 70. Wasn't beaten far in a 78 at Randwick prior and missed twice by 1L at Sandown-Hillside before that. Well placed and John Allen may get the best out of him. GISELLA (10) is an improver who can build on the Maiden win this track. TIZ TIME (8) enjoys some give in the track and should get that today. She's a capable galloper who can't be ruled out.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Chewing Gum will be tough to beat.
6 04:00 Hygain Winners Choice BM70 Handicap 1600m
Ring True to take charge ahead of Active Duty at a good tempo. MACEDON ROSE (12) has performed well at Stakes level and presents third-up off a 1L defeat at Sandown-Hillside over this distance. She came from the back and there was a stack of merit in the effort. Just needs average luck from the awkward gate to be winning. ACTIVE DUTY (7) is threatening another win and carries 4kg less at this level. He will lead or box seat from the inside barrier and the mile is just right for him. ALL KINDS OF FOLK (10) resumed this grade at Benalla well-supported and didn't get into it after mucking the start. She'd come off a try in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks and prior missed a whisker on the Group 3 Auraria Stakes. McDougall has been aboard her last three starts and comes to ride. Finally draws an inside gate and is capable of using it. Keep very safe. EVERYTHING COUNTS (3) is an improver from a top yard and has to be kept onside.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Macedon Rose.
7 04:30 Sportsbet Race Previews BM66 Handicap 1000m
Expecting Odessa to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. The speedy ODESSA (11) has raced well at Stake and group level and followed two big wins on the synthetic this preparation with a plainer effort in a strong handicap at Sandown-Hillside. Started $3.5 in that, and today she has the blinkers fitted for the first time. Meech will skip over and ride the speed and the well-bred filly is well-placed in this lineup. INTEREST POINT (3) has his third start for Matt Laurie and should be ready to test his best. Earlier in the year, he was only beaten 3.5L in the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes and Currie sticks from the 1L defeat this grade at Bendigo a month ago. EXUBERANCE (7) was okay at Sandown-Hillside resuming off a try in the Bendigo Guineas. She will be better for that and has won 2/2 second-up. Has a 1.5kg claim and can improve into the finish. Tougher sorting the remainder. EL SALTO (5) may be the best of them measured on his 2L win here two back in a 62.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Odessa appeals.
8 05:00 Hygain Winners Choice BM56 Handicap 1200m
Solid tempo likely with Let's Trot, Blondie's Toronado and Wild Dancer prominent. THE GRUMPY BEAR (2) brought strong relative form to resumption and was beaten a half length at Kilmore bet $3. Settled back from the wide gate and then didn't get a clear go at them until late in the race. Draws better today in easier and can win with the extra fitness. WELCOMETOTHESHOW (1) followed his Maiden success with a win in a 62 in Adelaide where he impressed after settling last and covering plenty of ground. Has an awkward barrier to manage again, but the 3kg claim brings him right into it. The speedy LET'S TROT (3) was plain last time in a 62 but led beaten 1.3L on the synthetic prior in a 64. That's more an indication of his ability and he will hit this at peak. Uses the inside gate and will get every chance with a 4kg claimer engaged. POETIC STORM (7) did a good job from the back beaten 1L at Tatura first up at this level and is in the mix building on that.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing The Grumpy Bear.
