TOOHEYS NEW CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1900m
Strong early tempo with Ropewalker and Xerxes leading the way. BALMIERRO (1) went oh-so-close at Gunnedah last time when chasing strongly to just miss. Built nicely into this and is drawn to settle handy fourth-up. Ready to strike. XERXES (6) finally landed the winning blow last start when breaking through in dominant fashion at Gunnedah. Confidence high and his form this prep has been rock solid. No reason he can't go right on with the job now. REDALUCA GIRL (11) is knocking on the door after another solid minor placing. Finishing off her races with real purpose and gets conditions to suit. Genuine contender and worth following. CITY GOLD READY (2) hasn’t won for a while but finds a suitable race and his best figures stack up. Could surprise. ROPEWALKER (9) finds the maiden win elusive but has enough pace to put himself on speed to give himself a chance. Keeping safe in exotics. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Balmierro. |

XXXX GOLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m
In a race without an obvious leader, either Celestial Bell or Flying Molly can roll them along. RIPS LAW (1) was good on debut when working home nicely from midfield to grab second at Coffs Harbour. Blinkers go on and that extra focus could be the key. Fitter and looks ready to go one better. GOLD CAPITAL (8) continues to leave himself with too much to do but has been closing off strongly. Drops back in trip with the blinker coming off first time. If he can settle closer from the inside alley he will take plenty of holding out under the light weight. BACKHANDER (5) has only been sound in her last two but should be hitting her straps now. Gets in low at the weights with the claim and is one of the main chances. FLYING MOLLY (7) showed speed to be right there early last time and was only collared late. With similar tactics, she can give another bold sight and hold on for a slice. CELESTIAL BELL (3) is building to her first win and is worth keeping safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rips Law to win. |

HAHN PREMIUM LIGHT COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Subsidise to take up the running at a moderate tempo. NIRMATA (1) debuts and has shown promise at the trials, moving fluently to the line under a hold. Gets a key booking in Bullock and despite the wide draw, if he brings that trial form to race day, he’ll take beating. TERRITORY STYLE (5) was solid on debut at Dubbo when closing off strongly late to just miss the frame. Better with that experience and looks the obvious danger. DON’T SAY DO (11) resumes after a single run where little went right. Has been given time and tuned with a trial. Should return a sharper, stronger filly. Keep very safe. GRAPHIC IMAGE (12) is a newcomer with tidy trial form and hails from a stable that can get them ready first-up. No shock to see her raring to go. TUNCURRY (6) has been solid without impressing in two runs back. Nearing peak now so can't be dismissed. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Nirmata. |

HAHN SUPER DRY COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400m
Atenta and On The Quiet to set a strong tempo, joined by Concoction pushing on. CONCOCTION (2) broke through in style at Gunnedah, putting them away with authority. Lightly raced and clearly on the up, he looks well placed to back it up and go right on with it. LAIZABOUT (1) showed speed fresh and stuck on bravely for second at Dubbo. Fitter for that and maps to be right on pace again. Big chance to go one better. GIRLY POP (8) returns and is a noted fresh performer, narrowly missing here over the track and trip when resuming last campaign. Draws well and can make a bright return. CITY GOLD SPEED (3) has been thereabouts of late, fighting hard in his past two runs. Honest type who deserves a win. RHODESIAN DIAMOND (4) was edged out in a tight finish last start and brings solid form to this. Can figure again with any luck in running. SUGGESTED PLAY: Concoction to win again. |

JAMES SQUIRE GINGER BEER CG&E BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1100m
Good pace with Adviser, Koondeeman and Chicken Legs matching motors. MASTER GEE (7) doesn’t win out of turn but finds the right set-up here. Forget the latest run, this is easier and he’s proven more than capable on his day. Expect him to hunt across from the wide alley to give himself every chance. HE’S MY WARRIOR (4) comes through the same last start race and also disappointed after racing handy but his previous effort was solid and he gets another chance to rebound. Can improve sharply. KOONDEEMAN (8) resumes off a break and was competitive last time in similar company. Boasts a terrific record on his home track and is a noted fresh performer. Hard not to see him running well. ENNIROC (1) didn’t fire last start but is much better than that. Has a nice turn of foot and gets some important weight off with the claimer engaged. Obvious danger. PEE DEE (10) is knocking on the door and deserves his chance over a trip he likes. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going Master Gee each-way. |

RACING COX PLATE DAY F&M BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1100m
Wine Time, Wokou and Electric Evie can set a genuine tempo. COTTON SOX (9) was heavily backed first-up and delivered in gritty fashion, digging deep to prevail at Gunnedah. Fitter now and still on the up. Drawn sticky but can overcome. WINE TIME (5) is in the zone this campaign, returning with back-to-back wins. Can find the front again without much hassle and gets a good chance to bring up the hat-trick. PURPLE ESPRIT (8) was dominant fresh at Bundarra and boasts a flawless second-up record. Clearly thriving and looms as a big danger. WOKOU (14) improved nicely second-up, only reeled in late. Keeps heading the right way and the blinkers go on to have her even more focused. With even luck she can get the job done. TAKEMINE (1) has mixed her form this campaign but her best measures right up. Carries the big weight but is drawn well. Don't dismiss completely. SUGGESTED PLAY: Slight lean to Cotton Sox to win. |

ARMIDALE CUP FRIDAY 13TH MARCH BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300m
Plenty of pressure primarily from Fast Da, Major Makeover and Toulon Factor. CHESTIME (8) improved sharply second-up to score at Gunnedah in style and looks set to keep progressing. Draws kindly and can win again. BARCELONA EXPRESS (3) is going better than his form suggests and should be hitting his straps now fourth-up. Is already a track and trip winner and is drawn to get the gun run. Must be taken seriously. PUZZLE DESIGNER (1) is ready to strike third-up after two solid runs back. Gets a key booking in Bullock who will be putting his skills to the test from the wide draw. PARIAH ENGAGEMENT (5) resumes and has won first-up. Readied with the two trials, so should be forward enough. Must consider. DREYMON (10) didn’t get things right last start but his earlier win was good. Capable of bouncing back and could surprise if they overdo it in front. SUGGESTED PLAY: Chestime to win again. |
