THE MARQUEE (8) started triple figure odds at debut and ran out of his skin, going down narrowly. Won't be anything like those odds here but should be further improved and can go one better. PLACE OF PRACTICE (3) is a three-year-old colt on debut. From a successful breeding line, being by Vercingetorix from Full Regalia. Watch the betting closely. QUARTER MASTER (5) is on debut for the R A Hill stable. Three-year-old colt by The United States from Quippi. Jockey in form lately. STRUTTING (6) is a three-year-old filly on debut from the stable of Mike & Mathew De Kock who are running hot with first starters. By Hawwaam from Isabelle. Worth watching for a betting push. |

NATAL NOMADS - ANDREW MENTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1600m
Hard not to like the debut of GREEN GLOW (9) when runner-up over the mile at Scottsville. Was no match for the winner but after settling at the tail stormed home from last to beat the rest. Can only be improved and worth following up. CHEERSCHEERSCHEERS (13) was thereabouts on debut then stepped straight to 1800m here and placed. Looks close to a maiden win and gets chance. PIED PIPER (6) has had four career starts and best two figures have both been over the mile. Returns to that trip here and can do much better. LIGHT THE FIRE (12) placed at first two starts before a spell. Wasn't far away fresh and may well relish the longer journey now. Improver. |

NATAL NOMADS - FURTHERANCE OF GOLF CLASS 4 1600m
MISS TWINKLE (3) had first start here at the mile and scored an effortless win. Low draw and can make it two on end. SAINT BRIGID (2) was a mile winner two back then dropped back to 1400m last time and was below best. Extra trip a plus and has the ability. Worth another chance. SPINMYANGELSSPIN (6) resumed from a break over 1400m and recorded a gutsy win, scoring narrowly. Fitter again and will take running down over the longer trip. SASCHA'S DREAM (8) resumes today after filling a minor placing at her last appearance at Greyville All Weather over 1900m on June 22. Will improve on whatever she does in this but can feature in the finish this trip fresh. |

SMART GAS CLASS 4 1200m
COGNAC (4) made debut wth an emphatic victory, scoring an effortless win over this trip at Scottsville. Has good upside and worth following up. Plenty of other hopes though. CIRCUMBENDIBUS (7) was a fresh-up winner then placed last time as favourite. First try here but super consistent at the trip and expected to feature again. MIGHTY ZAMBEZI (10) is worth keeping very safe. Finished last campaign at Grade 2 level when midfield and not far from the winner. Well placed this grade and expecting a big return. MAGIC SURPRISE (5) proved too strong two runs ago here then placed on the all weather last time. Nice weight and worth another try. |

Some classy types lining up here. FUTURE VARIETY (7) has a fitness edge on some of the better performed rivals and is in terrific form winning last three. Scored over 1400m here last time and had been freshened since. Versatile and can make it four on end. O'TENIKWA (6) returns from a break after placing at Grade 3 level last time. Has a strong fresh-up record and expected to feature. CATS PAJAMAS (10) was fourth in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint here before a break. Great fresh record and has the class to return in winning form. COUNT OF ROUEN (5) also had its last start at the top level when fifth in the Champion Stakes over a mile. Might find this a little sharp but did win only other try fresh so very wary. |

EAGLE FINANCIAL SERVICES PROGRESS PLATE 1400m
Good competitive race. WHISPERING DEATH (2) is a promising type who was placed on debut before scoring at next two before a break. Has good upside and this trip suits fresh. Expected to go on with it. ON MY HONOUR (8) finished last campaign over much further in Grade 1 company but has run well fresh and will appreciate this grade. Talented and can feature. WINTER GAMES (3) is no stranger to open class and did resume last campaign in stakes grade. Looks a key runner off the low draw. BRISTOL HERCULES (5) is close to breaking through after three consecutive placings, the latest coming when third over 2000m at this track. Has fitness on most of the main rivals and is nicely placed to take this out. |

MAGICAL VIEW (1) has been racing well without winning and looks to get chance here. Close to the winner last few and long overdue. Goes close off the inside. LADYOFDISTINCTION (5) is a promising filly with two wins and two minors from just four starts. Has upside this time in and expecting a big run fresh. TWO G'S (8) is another filly resuming and is already a fresh-up winner. Trip suits fresh. JEANNE DARC (9) finished third last time over 1400m at this track, beaten 3 lengths. Ready to win now and sure to be thereabouts. |

GO GRAYSON GO (9) ran a string of minor placings before breaking through for an effortless win here last time. Winning rider stays aboard and expected to feature again. PIONEER SQUARE (11) is another in great form, with two wins and two seconds from four this time in. First try this trip but won by a space last time at the mile. CORRUPT (3) resumed over 2400m here and was beaten in a photo. Did win only other try second-up and surely fitter again. JOHNNY THE THIEF (4) finished last campaign with a fourth in stakes class. Goes well here and at the trip and has also won fresh. |

BUDDY BOY (2) was placed over six furlongs on debut then improved sharply straight to the mile with a huge win, clearing out to score by six. Further improved and worth following in. JAZZ FESTIVAL (3) returned this trip at Scottsville and found one better but was an eye-catching run. Great record this course and distance and can return to winning form. TURBO TWENTY (10) has been in great for winning last two, scoring this trip at first try two back. Hard to knock the winning form. MOHAVE PRINCE (5) won here two back then below best Scottsville. Worth another chance. |

IMPERIAL POWER (5) was in the placings four on end before dropping back to 1400m here and finishing sixth in a hot form race. Well placed back to the mile and deserve another chance. VILA VICOSA (4) was sixth in open class at last run before a spell and returns in easier. Has a win at the course and distance and will be running on late. KIMBALL O'HARA (2) has been out of the winner's list for a long time, last start finishing fourth at this track over 1400m. Not far away though and can feature off an inside draw. Did place only try course and distance. LUCKY DOLLAR (11) won two on end before finishing runner-up latest. One of the lading chances again. |
