Fern Frenzy may well find the front is a race devoid of early speed. BLANCHE BASS (8) will find this easier than last start at Geelong when a battling sixth. Her two runs to start the campaign at Ballarat Synthetic were good and she should get a nice run tracking the speed here. AUSSIE ADAPTOR (1) was good last time out at Mildura when improving to be beaten just half a length in second. Rising to 1400m there clearly helped so out to a mile should prove even more beneficial. ONE WAY RIDE (13) has been going well enough this time in, not far away here two back over 1400m. She's lightly raced and can improve out to this trip now. SUPER GROOVEY (14) struggled fresh at Geelong but should strip much fitter with each way claims while CHRISLYN (10) is going okay and there has been winning form out of her last start here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Blanche Bass.
2 12:30 Four'N Twenty Maiden Plate 1200m
Absolute Power and The Secret can be prominent. WISE INLAW (13) ran an encouraging race first up at Geelong in a stronger maiden than this, finding the line nicely for a narrow fourth. He was put into a much tougher affair at Caulfield Heath on debut last time in and finds the perfect race to break through now. CHAINSAW (4) was off a very long spell first up at Sale but ran a nice race for fourth having shown ability in early 2024. Can only improve off that and draws to effect. GEE AND TEE (7) ran a solid race on debut at Cranbourne when working home from midfield for third. May be wanting further now but should find this class to her liking. TORONESS (11) resumes. She mixed her form last time in but her best would be competitive. SWING YOUR MAGIC (5) resumes for his second campaign and could be an improver.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Wise Inlaw to win.
3 01:00 Hygain Tracktorque Maiden Plate 1000m
Solid tempo set by Suits and Remember Poppy. YAMASHITA'S GOLD (11) won't get many better chances than this. An excellent debut to top two-year-old Shining Smile saw him start $17 in a Group 2 next time out. Two runs back this campaign have been fair, but again he was only 1.3 lengths off Shining Smile at Flemington last start which is a lot stronger than this race. RED FALCON (10) is coming along nicely with two starts to date, solid at Geelong over 1150m last time. Fancy back to 1000m here will suit and blinkers go on. ENUFF BRICKS (1) resumes. He ran third when fresh last time in albeit beaten a fair way. He can run into the minor money. UNSNOOZUAL (3) is an entire by Shamus Award on debut for the Laurie yard. Must respect top connections. EVIL LOVER (4) has been okay in two runs back and is in the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Yamashita's Gold to win.
4 01:30 Tambo Waste Maiden Plate 2200m
Rang A Round Up is likely to roll to the lead and set a decent tempo. OKAY ZOOMER (5) is the one with a bit of upside that makes the most appeal here. He jumps sharply up in trip from 1600m last start but is bred to stay and the Mick Kent yard are renowned for getting these lightly raced stayers fit. Tipping he goes to a new peak here that the others will struggle to match. RANG A ROUND UP (8) is knocking on the door with back-to-back second placings, beaten a head at Ballarat Synthetic last time out. Back to turf is no issue and he'll take catching. CLYDEBANK ROBBER (3) is a 47-start maiden so tread carefully but missed by a nose at Sale last time and a repeat of that effort could deliver the elusive victory. GRASSY SPUR (4) struggled last time in a much stronger race at Caulfield but can improve. PURPLE PRINCE (7) was just fair fresh but will be fitter.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Okay Zoomer to win.
5 02:00 Gippsland Grain Store BM58 Handicap 2200m
A strong pace on the cards with Stay A While, Agreeance and Shezavixen likely to roll along early. Tough race. RESERVOIR DOG (9) wasn't far away at Echuca last time and finds a suitable race here. Gets up in trip again here which should be fine and he draws well. In an open race, he can run well on an each-way basis. BLACKLIST (3) is stuck on the 1 win from 16 starts but has been racing in better company, hardly disgraced in town at Sandown Lakeside last start when beaten 2.75 lengths. Sets up well here and naturally looks very hard to beat. WOMEN IN UNIFORM (10) is racing consistently over shorter trips and gets past 2000m for the first time now. She's racing well enough to be a factor if she sees out the journey. ABSOLUTE DEEL (1) is another on trial at the trip but certainly bred to run it and he'll appreciate the drop in grade. KING OF CORDOBA (6) should be peaking here and is open to improvement, especially back to turf.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Reservoir Dog each-way.
6 02:30 Book Now for ODonnells Transport Lakes Entrance Cup 7th September BM58 Handicap 1000m
Fitzalan and Never A Thought to take up the running at a strong tempo. AFFIRMATIVE LAD (8) resumes. His form last time in reads well for this having won his maiden first up before contesting some better races, good in a pair of BM58's at the end of the preparation. He's won a trial leading in and looks a key chance. FITZALAN (9) proved too speedy breaking her maiden at Albury last start, backed into $1.70 and duly saluting. She's a promising type for strong connections who can measure right up. INTRIGUING STATE (6) won his maiden nicely fresh over this route, somewhat of a shock at $17 but doing it dominantly. Have to respect again now. LAST STYLEBENDER (2) was a narrow maiden winner first up at Cranbourne and just needs a good ride early to be going close here too. DON'T RUSSIA (11) has been big odds but outperforming them comfortably of late. 1.3 lengths away at Caulfield last time is excellent form for this and she should be right there despite a tough draw.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Affirmative Lad on top.
7 03:00 Dyson Group BM58 Handicap 1200m
From the wide alley Anthophila should cross and lead. MURMULLO (4) presents third up having improved nicely to break her maiden dominantly at Warracknabeal last time out, leading throughout to score by nearly 3.5 lengths. Finds the right race to go again and draws to kick up and hold the top again. Can go right on with it. TOMMYESS (1) resumes for his second campaign having shown ability in three runs last time in. Respecting the Hayes stable here. ROCKCLIFF (7) doesn't win out of turn but is going quite well this time in, beaten narrowly at Moe last time out. Can run well again. ZE BEE NINE (5) is stuck on 1 win from 27 but was going quite well prior to a last start flop. He's fresh for this and could improve. A PINCH OF LUCK (3) resumes with each-way claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Murmullo.
8 03:30 TAC BM58 Handicap 1200m
Plenty of pace from Little Bighorn, Gala Diamond and Beaunified primarily. SEA POEM (4) is a lightly raced mare who presents third up and ready to fire. Two runs back from a spell have been okay but she did show plenty of promise last time in and should be at peak fitness in a winnable race. LITTLE BIGHORN (2) won dominantly first up at Pakenham Synthetic, failing to repeat the dose last time albeit in a BM64 and was not disgraced. This should be more to his liking. COUNT OF TOULOUSE (1) has won his past two, digging deep to score here last time out in a similar race. Have to respect again. GALA DIAMOND (3) resumes with a consistent profile and a nice map from barrier one. Can figure. ARIA ELECTRA (12) is consistent without winning. She is back a fair way in trip which is the query but she can be staying on late.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sea Poem on top.
9 04:00 Melbourne Cup Party Tickets On Sale Now BM58 Handicap 1600m
Pace looks strong with Pro Aussie pushing forward while Delightful Journey kicks up on the inside. PRO AUSSIE (4) clearly on top. His past two efforts at Pakenham Synthetic have been very good and this looks a very winnable affair. Switches back to turf but can't see that being an issue and he draws for every chance. He really should be taking care of these. DELIGHTFUL JOURNEY (1) can mix his form, poor in a much harder race in town last time but not bad prior at Sale. 1600m is his sweet spot and on his day he can lead and prove very hard to catch. FLAG FLYER (5) won his maiden well fresh at Sale before a sound effort in this grade at Geelong. Can improve again here off a freshen and prove competitive. PRESERVATOR (2) won over this route two back and has claims on that while CUDMORE STREET (6) was favoured to beat Preservator that day and can also figure.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Pro Aussie to win.
10 04:30 GBM Contractors BM58 Handicap 1600m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Satin Image. IOANE (1) ran a strong race first up in BM64 company at Geelong, off a short break there and sticking on well for fourth. He comes back in grade for this with added fitness and maps ideally from barrier two. Can land in the first couple and should take beating from there. SHIDAN (2) is a lightly raced type who won his maiden well two back at Sale, solid up to this grade last time as favourite. Can improve again here but he just needs some early luck from the gate. CHOCOLATE ROYAL (3) is racing consistently, off 54 days here and back in trip. This may be a touch sharp but he can be strong late. ADRETT (4) wasn't bad at Cranbourne in a stronger race last time and looks ready for another crack at 1600m in an easier race. SMOKIN' GIANT (12) maps well and can figure on an each-way basis.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ioane to win.
