WELCOME TO NELSON MANDELA BAY MAIDEN PLATE 1300m
PALANCAR (1) is better than his last start run over 1200m at Kenilworth would suggest. He is having his first run for the Cliffie Miller stable. He jumps from a good draw of three and if taking to the surface, he may be the one to beat in this field. FIZZLY BUBBLY (2) ran on well when second of eight over 1600m on this course last time. It must be noted that the winner of that race has come out and won again since. Has solid each-way claims. ICED MARMALADE (8) finished third on debut and returns from a 23-week spell during which time she would have strengthened up. Fresh-up has to be respected. MIO DESTINO (6) is having his third run this prep. He has scope and gets the tongue-tie fitted for the first time. From pole position, he can finish in the top-three. |

PLAY SOCCER 6, 10 AND 13 MAIDEN PLATE 1600m
LAUGH TILL I CRY (1) has placed in her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1400m on the turf. Resumes from a spell and meets the right field here to shed her maiden tag. OH MANDY (2) was touched off in her last start over this course and distance. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Rates well as one of the leading contenders. BIRD ON A WING (3) was disappointing in her last start over 1400m on the turf. Her penultimate run when fourth over 1400m on this course was encouraging. She jumps from pole position and may be hard to peg back. FANTASY GIRL (5) finished second of seven here two runs back and is likely to add some value in exotic bets. |

TAB 4RACING APP OPEN MAIDEN 2000m
GLOBAL SCENE (1) is still a maiden after 17 starts, but her recent form has been decent. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards over the final 350m. She is back against her own sex and if keeping on a straight line, she may be the one to beat in this line-up. WELSH STARLET (2) ran a decent race when third over 1600m on this course last time. She was steadied leaving the start and ran on at the finish. S'manga Khumalo is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her when it matters most. CHEAP THRILLS (7) is still a maiden after 13 starts. Managed to find the placings at this track two starts back before finishing fourth over 1900m at this track last start. Terrific chance to break through. PRESERVE FOREVER (3) missed the placings two starts back then ran a better race when she worked home well and finished fourth last time out over 2000m at this track. Well worth an each-way ticket. |

WALKONTHEWILDSIDE (1) has finished second in her last three starts. She has a good draw of three and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she can notch up her fourth-career victory. THREE CHEERS (5) is a winner of her last two starts over this course and distance. She ran on well last time and won easier than the official margin suggests. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect. FLIGHT DISPLAY (6) has moderate recent form lines to her name. She has a good draw of four and can finish in the money. ONO NO KOMACHI (8) doesn't win out of turn, scoring just once from 12 starts. Last start finished fourth over 1600m at this track. Best figures measure up nicely. In the mix. |

RACING TODAY MR 76 HANDICAP 2000m
HAARLEM (6) is better than his last start run over 1600m would suggest as he clipped heels leaving the start. If getting away to a clean start, he can return to winning form. SLAINTE MHATH (3) is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and on previous form, he should be involved in the fight to the finish. ORANJEMUND (9) finished seventh two runs back at this track then improved last time out to score by a neck over 2000m at this track. Has solid each-way claims. GEORGE HANDEL (7) has a moderate winning strike-rate but performed well last time at this track, finishing second over 1600m. Include in combinations. |

MARSHMALLOW (5) won a good race over this course and distance last time when resuming from a spell. She set the pace and found more where it matters most to hold all challengers at bay. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in that run has come out and won since. She can follow up with another victory. STRANGE MAGIC (6) finished 1.75 lengths behind the top selection last time. Rates well to finish in the money again. STRATA (2) is better than her last start run would suggest as she was reported to be coughing. She drops back in class and on best form shown, she should be involved in the fight to the finish. GREENLIGHT DANCER (7) showed good improvement when second over 1400m on this course last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on well at the finish. Chase Maujean retains the ride and if confirming her recent improvement should finish in the money. |

RACING240 MR 80 HANDICAP 1400m
TINTAMARRE (7) fought hard for his last victory over 1000m on this course. He showed good pace and fought hard all the way to the line. That was his first outing for the Gavin Smith stable. He should have no issues with the step up to 1400m and rates well to go back-to-back. FINAL TRY (3) ran a fair race over 1600m on the turf last time. His penultimate run when second over this distance on the turf was encouraging. He tries the polytrack and if taking to the surface should throw out a big challenge to the selection. HOLOCENE (6) is better than his last start run on the turf would suggest. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this course and distance. With a bit of luck from the widest draw can finish in the money. SILVER TYCOON (9) was given a gun ride when winning his last start over this course and distance. He is in a good space and with luck in the running should be figuring in the finish. |

NEXT FAIRVIEW RACEMEETING FRIDAY 15 AUGUST FM 66 HANDICAP 1400m
BENEATH THE MOON (12) should have finished closer in her last two starts as she has hung inwards in the straight. The manner in which she finished off both those races suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1400m at this stage of her career. She jumps from a good draw of three and if keeping on a straight line, she can return to winning form. LADY LUCK (4) held on where it matters most to win her last start by a nose over 1600m on this course. She has won two of her last three starts and is well worth considering. ALEX MILLER (6) was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over 1300m on this course last start. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She takes on stronger rivals but should be up to the task and can't be overlooked. COURAGEOUS (8) improved last start to finish third over 1600m at this track. Likely improver with strong each-way claims. |
