STAR TURN @ VINERY STUD BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 1500m
Solid tempo with Hibiki Harmony leading from Spandex and Mon Amore. DALE (2) resumed this grade at the track/tip beaten narrowly on heavy ground. Keeps the top hoop, and the stable is high-striking. Strips fitter and he has more up his sleeve. SPANDEX (7) seeks the hat-trick and is also promising. He was heavily supported, beaten narrowly in a CL1 at Scone over a mile and has been kept on the fresh side. The in-form Nock is engaged. HIBIKI HARMONY (8) is hard-fit now and also rates well. Won this grade at Tamworth and then tackled the Grafton Guineas. She draws inside and will ride the speed with the above. KEEP AT 'EM (4) won here two back, and it was a big effort drawn gate 15. He's been freshened and has pieces of form that would see him very competitive. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Dale. |

DENBROOK THOROUGHBRED'S MAIDEN PLATE 1500m
Blackfish to take charge ahead of Sass at a strong tempo. Archibald-trained MACHRIMORE (11) had been well trialled and looked a run short at Scone on debut. She's been and will enjoy the step up in distance. In good hands and fitter, the well-bred filly can break through. TURNING CIRCLE (10) brings a string of placings, and the form stacks right up. She will use the inside gate to her advantage, and she deserves another chance. BLACKFISH (5) switched from the top Victorian stable and was beaten a nose at Forbes over 1300m, on a 62-day return. She will be better for that outing, and she has form at this distance range that would see her in the finish. The 2kg claim is handy, and she'll likely cross over and control the race. DUNSTALL THE GUN (1) has Bullock aboard and the blinkers applied for the first time, and he can show more. SUGGESTED PLAY: Machrimore appeals most. |

HOLLYDENE ESTATE WINES COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1280m
Territories Spirit and Zecchini can be prominent. EAGLETURN (2) looked the goods at the trials and then raced favourite on debut at Tamworth (heavy track), beaten less than 1L. He will enjoy a soft run and stripping fitter will prove hard to stop. SALVATO (7) was well supported here on debut and didn't enjoy much luck. Has an in-form jockey aboard and the stable is striking at 35% at this venue. Quick improvement is likely. ZECCHINI (8) led and found one better here on debut, but was plainer at the track following. The gate is awkward, but she'll likely appreciate the longer sprint. PINOT NERO (12) resumes today and ran well enough in his first preparation to deserve a betting watch. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Eagleturn. |

HUNTER THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS ASSOC. MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
Pace genuine with Third Base and Sharpes Battle pressing hard closely followed by Avonlee and Diva Rouge. MISS JUDAS (16) is metro-trained and can fire third-up in easier company. She led beaten narrowly at Gosford before the spell and went close at her only go at this track. She has the gate speed to cross and take up a forward spot. YVETTE (13) is in an elite stable and has laid down a solid foundation at the provincials. She showed plenty in her maiden campaign, and that form would have her fighting out the finish. EMPRESS TSARINA (10) was nudged out twice at the provincials and then spoiled things with a slow off here when expected to win for the new yard. She has to drop back 450m but has been freshened for 35 days. It's an ask, but she's showing plenty of promise. DIVA ROUGE (9) will be around the mark, building on the two competitive efforts at this level. USAIN BOSS (14) is in a leading metro barn, and he may be ready to show more. He raced in Listed grade in Melbourne on debut, when well in the market. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Miss Judas. |

MUSWELLBROOK RSL COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000m
Strong tempo assured with Angie's Sister, Gold Sluice and Panta Rhei rolling to the front. PANTA RHEI (3) hits the race at peak fitness and has the form to win. She was quickly back on track here last time on the heavy, and was narrowly beaten at Scone her first two runs this preparation. ANGIE'S SISTER (5) was heavily backed and led, demolishing the Wellington Maidens by 6L first-up on a heavy track. Keeps the handy 2kg claim and fitter she can lead them a merry chase. IT STAYS IN VEGAS (8) went close at Scone and deserved the easy Maiden win at Moree following, backed off the map. Carries just 53kg with the claim and has scope for more improvement. NOR NOR WEST (2) resumes and would be a hope if presented on song. Penza is a positive jockey engagement, and he has the gate speed to cross over and position forward. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Panta Rhei. |

ANDERS @ WIDDEN STUD BENCHMARK 74 HANDICAP 1000m
A solid tempo on the cards with Zoubeauty heading them off. A good contest. ZOUBEAUTY (10) resumes for a top metro stable, and this is winnable if she's presented on song. She races forward and brings two narrow defeats at this level, heavily bet. She's in well with the 2kg claim, and is the one to be with if the money comes. PATINO RUBY (2) led and won an Open here by a space and then didn't race again for 1163 days before resuming with a close-up effort at the Gold Coast. She's continued to improve since, and fourth up is ready to show her best. The in-form Nock is booked, adding to the confidence. MANAGE THE CYCLE (13) won a 58 here and then repeated the dose at Scone as favourite, and it was a mighty effort after settling last in the 12-horse field. He's been kept on the fresh side and tumbles in weight. That brings him into it. SPECK (9) was narrowly beaten in a Randwick Highway before spelling, and second-up can show more. FEMME FATALE (4) is up to this at best and has switched from a metro barn in Queensland, freshened. Keep onside. SUGGESTED PLAY: Zoubeauty if the race day betting suggests stable confidence. |

TAB QUEEN OF THE VALLEY MATCHMAKER F&M BM 66 HCP 1280m
Akauwheo should find the front with Ready And Lucky and Kayz Time on her heels. OAKFIELD NEPTUNE (3) won on Newcastle on debut as expected and then went back and placed as favourite in a CL1. Strips fitter and Bullock sticking aboard is a plus. She's been kept on the fresh side and is the one to beat, READY AND LUCKY (9) rates right up to this, but the speedy mare has to push over from an awkward barrier. She's third up, briefly freshened and is in an in-form stable. DOLLY JAYNE (14) found more like her best, just missing at Moree, and maps for the run in the race. Sits at the bottom of the handicap and deserves consideration. CHAMPERS GIRL (1) led and won a 66 at Mudgee and then took a sit at Warren and lacked finishing dash. She is capable of using the inside barrier and should be around the mark. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Oakfield Neptune. |
