Strong early pace from Future Africa and Leao Alado pushing forward, along with Kashkaval from out wide. VIVA DE JANEIRO (6) has good recent form lines to his credit. He took the lead with 300m to run last start but was outrun late. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and he looks the one to beat. PUTINS PROMISE (4) finished third in the same race as the top selection last start. Has top-three claims. KASHKAVAL (1) took on stronger rivals in his last start on this course. He finished third in his only attempt over this distance. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and if finding the form of his penultimate run should be fighting out the finish. HAKAS KRAKAS (7) performed well last time out at this track, finishing a close-up fourth of 12 over 1800m. Looks well placed in this line-up and should be returning to form. Include in combinations.
