Little in the way of early speed so Slane may well find the front. The consistent SLANE (1) returned from an eight-week let-up with a closing third over 1400m at Pakenham last start. Last contested a race of this quality at Sale three back and was edged out under a similar weight. Fitter for that latest hit-out and looks sure to be in the finish. FOX APPEAL (3) caught the eye last Thursday when he came from the back on straightening to be beaten just half a length over this trip at Wagga. Racing well but his habit of filling minor placings is a concern so each-way the best option. MR SAXABEAT (2) came back in trip and did a good job to finish third recently over 1500m at Ballarat. Two for two at the mile so from gate one he is a serious chance. ARACHIDI (5) is racing well, including a win here in a Bm58 three starts back. In the mix. THE KINGS GOSPEL (4) was strong late when resuming over this distance at Pakenham 19 days ago. Nicely weighted after the claim so keep him very safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Slane.
