A strong tempo is assured with Dubai Warrior leading the charge. AETHELWULF (6) is an exciting prospect and possibly the most interesting runner on the card. Has recorded two massive wins at the provincials this prep, with a flop at $1.28 in between - that was on a heavy track so he can be forgiven. Goes from 1600m to 1900m which can only help. Ready to take on these better horses now. MICHELANGELO (8) finished midfield in the Queensland Derby two back then had an eight-week break before a fair effort over 1800m at Randwick last time. Fitter for that run and is a threat to the top pick. CASTAGNOLA (7) led for home but couldn't quite hang on at his latest appearance over 1500m at Hawkesbury. Lightly raced and gets beyond a mile for the first time. Likely improver. DUBAI WARRIOR (5) has raced well all prep at the provincials and still has more to offer at just the fourth run of the campaign. Prepared to give KAPAKIRI (2) one more chance at the fourth run back from a spell with McDonald to pilot. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Aethelwulf.
