Cracking tempo with Esquel and Tuscaloosa Gem leading the way. Open race with plenty of winning form to line up. TUSCALOOSA GEM (9) is part of that, coming off a strong maiden win at Pakenham over Illyivy as a $2 favourite. We should get a good guide on that form earlier and it's hard to knock anything out of the Begg stable who are airborne. GRINZINGER POD (2) is coming through strong races, sixth in the G3 Proud Miss behind Cleo Cat when last seen. This is much easier and she has to be respected. HEINOUS (4) resumed with a strong effort off a long spell at Sandown Hillside, beaten half a length. Can improve getting to 1200m and rates well on form last time in. MISS SWIFT (1) has won both this time in and is hard to knock, especially given her favourable racing pattern. SUGGESTED PLAY: Tuscaloosa Gem to win.
