Heroic Tale, Brisa Fresca and Notturno will be keen early so the tempo should be genuine. EXCESS RETURN (1) built on a nice third two starts back at Hanshin Dirt with a win over 1900m at Kyoto Dirt two-and-a-half weeks ago, getting home by 1.3 lengths. Taisei Danno scored on him last time and retains the ride. This looks a sterner test than last time but on current form he is good enough to take this out. Grade 1 placegetter NOTTURNO (10) started at $5.70 last time on the back of a win at Saga two starts ago but was below his best, finishing sixth over 2100m at Kawasaki after being prominent at the corner. His prior form was much better and he can bounce back. DIKTAEAN (4) is a distance specialist who was out of the money when resuming two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 2100m at Kawasaki, beaten 1.3 lengths. Worth noting Makoto Okabe goes aboard. Can measure up again in this similar assignment. RED FARO (3) finished in sixth place when resuming over 2100m last start at Listed level at Tokyo Dirt. Has a fair record when second up. Won't be far away.
