RACING MATES COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE 1262m
A distinct absence of early speed so don't expect any records to be broken. PRINCE RUPERT (5) returned from a six-month spell and registered his first placing in nine starts when an eye-catching third over 1015m at Coffs Harbour last start. Well served by a longer trip today so he looks a great chance to finally break through. HIGHLAND MIRAGE (2) is a twenty-start maiden back for a fourth campaign. Placed two from three when fresh from a spell. Worth some thought with winkers on for the first time. QUICK BUCK (6) was strong late but never looked likely first-up over 1250m here. Will be working home hard again. BLUE KINGDOM (1) is a first starter from the Lou Mary stable who is trialling well and has been very well found in opening markets. Two-year-old NIKODY'S BINKS (11) was caught off the track last start so the run is worth forgiving. Draws the fence today and can bounce back. SUGGESTED PLAY: Prince Rupert is very good each-way value. |

VALE PAUL MATTS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1007m
Pace looks to be genuine with I'm Opinionated and Volare matching motors in advance of Bonoyster and Rizu. Tricky race with many of the main hopes first-up or on debut. VOLARE (12) last appeared when down the track over this course and distance eight months ago. Opened last prep with a positive performance over this track and trip. Good chance with the light weight. OAKFIELD PLUTO (1) is an Exceedance gelding on debut for Kris Lees. A recent Beaumont track trial was encouraging. Respect any market confidence. PURPLE KITTY (3) is first-up from a fifteen-week spell. Opened the last campaign with a placing here at this trip. Must be considered. TAMPA BAY (11) hasn't been far away at her last couple and can fill a top four placing without surprising. FAST BLUE (7) returns from a seven-month spell and has been gelded. Impressed in a recent Beaumont track trial win so we might see a different horse this prep. SUGGESTED PLAY: This looks a nice race for Volare. |

SKY INTERNATIONAL CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 2018m
A race that lacks pace so expect a muddling tempo at best. HEART OF PLATINUM (10) has been a model of consistency of late. Came from well back on the corner to just miss last time out over 1512m at Port Macquarie. New to this trip but it looks the right fit. Great chance to grab a well-deserved win in a race that lacks depth. STRAIGHT THROUGH (3) broke his maiden recently with a tough victory over a shorter trip at Grafton. Lightly raced and just third-up today so there is a stack of improvement in store. BOLD SPLENDOR (5) returned to form with a close fifth over 2200m at Scone last start. Each-way candidate. IN ISO (1) is a non-winner but might be worth throwing in the exotics. PRINCE IS GAME (2) caught the eye late in the piece last start over this course and distance. Should be thereabouts again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Heart Of Platinum to score. |

STACKS LAW FIRM COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1007m
Mr Damage and Toomuchinformation possess good early speed. WITHSTAND (5) resumed in a similar race to this last start at Muswellbrook and although not beaten a long way looked a shade disappointing. Draws a better gate today and Anna Roper is a key engagement. Worth another chance. TELEGRAPH (2) made a little late ground but was never a threat in a BM66 over this distance at Taree last time out. Back in grade today and he usually races well here so a return to form will not surprise. TOOMUCHINFORMATION (3) was beaten a whisker when resuming over this distance at Muswellbrook recently. Fitter for that outing and despite the big weight he is capable of featuring. AMARONE (7) contested the same Muswellbrook BM58 as Withstand and Toomuchinformation last time and caught the eye late, beaten under a length. Big chance with another effort like that. MR DAMAGE (4) strips fitter and this looks a suitable assignment. SUGGESTED PLAY: Withstand each-way. |

GET YOUR KOSCIUSZKO TICKETS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1412m
Genuine tempo with Nikody's Diego and King Soleil pressing for the lead. SHOW 'EM HOWL (2) has raced twice this prep, working through the line strongly to just miss the placings both times in Highways over shorter trips. Lightly raced rising four-year-old who is perfectly placed out to this trip third-up. Ready to win. ALBANIAN STAR (7) is now with the Shaun Harvey stable and arrives in fine form with four top-three finishes on the bounce. Those efforts have been on synthetics so she needs to transfer that to the turf, but on face value her form looks like stacking up. Market watch on CHRISTA (3) who hasn't raced for over a year but is very handy when right. Ran a cracking race to finish third in a Class 3 at her only run last prep. No surprise to see her competitive despite the long lay-off. KING SOLEIL (6) and ALL TOO ROSEY (8) have been in work for a long while and finding it hard to break through. This race falls away quite fast so either could fill a placing without surprising. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Show 'Em Howl. |

TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1614m
Expecting Cats Quarters to lead Merapi at just a moderate tempo. SPIRITLY (2) stepped back to a BM50 and got the cash last start over 1512m at Port Macquarie. Only third-up today and drops 2.5kgs so despite taking on a better field today he is right in contention again. MEGA FIGHT (1) was steady through the line without threatening in a BM66 over the mile at Tamworth last time out. Has a decent record at this trip so back in grade today he makes plenty of appeal. CASINO BEAR (6) is back in trip but his close fifth here over 2000m recently was a strong effort. Each-way prospects. MERAPI (8) is racing well although coming back to the mile is a small query. One for the exotics. OAKFIELD ECHIDNA (4) has returned in great order this prep and should figure in the finish again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Spiritly each-way. |

MVRC WINNING POST FUNCTION CENTRE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1262m
Strong pace with Bodhi Boy, Kayz Time and Critical Time paving the way. BODHI BOY (1) returned from a nineteen-week break with a gutsy second over 1200m at Newcastle, finding the lead in the run home only to be claimed late. Easy winner second-up last prep and is ideally placed to emulate that effort. KAYZ TIME (7) did early work before tiring late in a similar race to this at Coffs Harbour last time out. Cherry-ripe at the fourth run back and from the inside gate will get all the favours. Can bounce back. CRITICAL TIME (4) drove hard late to be beaten under a length when resuming over 1115m at Grafton recently. Goes well when second-up and this slightly longer trip suits. Can keep the ball rolling. SHEILA'S FANTA SEA (9) warmed up when the race was all over at Muswellbrook last start. Better placed out to this distance so she can play a big role. PLUCKTEN (2) will be better for the run following a nineteen-week break but can sneak into the frame. SUGGESTED PLAY: Bodhi Boy to win the last. |
