LADBROKES FORM GENIUS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400m
Tactical given the lack of speed. SWATOW (3) switched from a top Victorian stable and was quickly on track, beaten a half length second up at Cairns. The longer sprint suits, and he has compelling VIC provincial form. Fitter and he's he'd have these well covered at best. DUBALENE (5) is a lightly raced improver who will find this much easier than Doomben. The 2kg claim is handy, and he's showing enough to make the finish. MAKEMINEMILO (1) comes out of the Swatow race beaten 1.5L. Stanley rides today, and he's a trifecta hope. Ditto MARCH MADNESS (2), who brings a 1.6L defeat here. Wiggins stays aboard, and he's on a 5-day backup. The winkers go on again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Swatow. |

HATCHETT ST HEROES BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1609m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Mission House leading the way. MORDECAI (5) is third-up and brings two close-up placings from Mackay. He is back in grade on a 7-day return and is ready to win. READY TIGER (7) has gone well here in his two runs since switching from a Victorian stable. He's at his best over this distance and maps well today. Has Butler aboard, and he's up to winning at best. MISSION HOUSE (1) missed a whisker at Bowen and will appreciate the longer trip. Has an awkward barrier, but the 2kg claim brings him into it. SET THE SAILS (2) led and won a CL1 here by a space and then tackled a 65 narrowly beaten. He's on a quick backup and races forward. A slight niggle at a mile. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Mordecai. |

SOPHIA MABEL & THE CUDDLIES Maiden Handicap 1000m
Genuine pace with Big Demeanor taking up the running ahead of Il Fagiolo and Golden Octavian. BIG DEMEANOR (2) switched from the Gollan barn and was beaten a nose at Mackay, backed off the map. He draws to advantage again and is on a 7-day return. He can take the next step. GOLDEN OCTAVIAN (4) has been heavily bet all three race runs, but didn't finish it off resuming at Cairns. Wiggins sticks aboard, and he will be a lot sharper second-up. The likely threat. HOLD MY HALO (14) resumes and would be in the finish at best. He draws out but owns a comfortable trial win, and she's in light with the 2kg claim. BINGHAMTON (3) resumes and has jumped a short-priced favourite in his last four outings. Has some ability and may be more forward this time around. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Big Demeanor. |

RJ & THE FOOT-TAY QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Allez Paris. FLYING ANIMO (5) won two trials by a space and then led and blitzed a Maiden field here on debut when heavily bet. He can shoot over to the speed and take the next step. HAND GRENADE (7) led and easily ran his best race when winning here in this grade/trip. That stacks up, but she's marked back by the outside barrier. May have turned the corner. HELL OF A BENTLEY (2) resumes and is right up to this. Goes fresh, but the query is the 369 days off the scene. He's trialled, but it's some ask. TIME TO PROPHET (4) maps well with a 2kg claimer aboard and will find this grade more to his liking. Also has claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Flying Animo. |

THE DEFIANT O'BRIEN'S BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000m
Speed should be right on over the 1000m journey. OBLIGATED (6) resumed with a narrow defeat at Mackay in an Open 3 and then failed to handle the heavy track at Rockhampton in the same grade. He was well supported and has plenty in the tank. Maps well with Butler sticking and he won his only third-up start. Rates the one to beat. HEAD HONCHO (7) was outgraded here last time, but his placing prior stacks up. Wiggins stays aboard, and he's likely to come hard late. VIBURNUM (3) led and missed a nose this grade at Cairns and will be better for it. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and will use the inside gate. In the mix. LOUD NOISE (5) was beaten 1.5L in the same race and is also third-up. He maps well and will be around the mark. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Obligated. |

LADY OF VICTORIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400m
Pace strong with Hit Snooze and Well Rested leading with Elleves nearby. WAR COUNCIL (2) had switched from a leading Sydney barn and was quickly on track, leading and spacing the Mackay Maidens by 4.4L. Keeps the top hoop and is still miles off his best. He can go on with the job. ELLEVES (6) ran a good figure when beaten 1L in a Bowen 50. Draws well and tumbles in weight at this level. That brings him into it. BELMONT PARK (3) resumed here in a CL1 in good order and impressed prior when winning his Maiden over this trip. Risks getting bottled up from the inside gate, but Stanley is a positive switch replacing the 3kg apprentice. Deserves consideration. UNDER THE SHADOW (8) has an outside barrier but is likely to show more today. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and she'd be a hope at best. SUGGESTED PLAY: With War Council. |

LIAM O'BRIEN MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1200m
Strong tempo expected with Family Star, Chickerartie and Master Montaro prominent. The veteran MISSILE THUNDER (1) missed narrowly at Cairns and returned to his best when winning here over a shorter sprint. He has won 6/11 this course/distance and can go back-to-back. MASTER MONTARO (3) resumes after 83 days and has switched from a top Victorian yard. He has won 3/7 fresh, and his best form would be winning this. Butler is a positive jockey engagement and the betting will be key. VALENKI (8) impressed winning a 70 at Cairns and the longer sprint won't be an issue. He tumbles in weight at this level and that brings him into it. LIDDER VALLEY (7) peaks and is likely to show more with Wiggins going aboard. Has the outside gate but his best would see him around the mark. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Missile Thunder, but wary Master Montaro. |

RHINESTONE NORTH COWBOYS QTIS Class 3 Handicap (QTIS bonuses For 3,4&5YO's) 1200m
Solid tempo set by Super Freeze and Tow The Line. Competitive. THAT'S IT (10) resumed here for the new stable with a near miss and then was backed off the map in an Open 3 but missed the start by lengths. Some trust is required, but he maps well again and tumbles in weight. He has more to give over the longer sprint. LEAN EAGLE (6) resumes will give this a shake if the outside barrier is managed. Wiggins' sticking is a positive, and he's proven fresh. DEALING'S DONE (2) resumed for the new barn when winning a 60 at Mackay. He's a second-up winner and is improved. Draws for a soft run and has claims. GOING NUCLEAR (3) was back to his best when winning a 65 here second up. Keeps the handy 2kg claim and should be better again. A hope. SUGGESTED PLAY: Giving That's It another chance. |
