NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:04 WOODSKIN 1925 NORTHAM CUP WINNER MAIDEN 1100m
The race lacks early speed so doubt they will go too hard. CHINESE DENTIST (3) had trialled well going into his debut campaign but was just fair despite having some market support. He disappointed to end the campaign but lobs in this suitable maiden based off his figures last campaign. Pike sticks from the latest trial and he can start his preparation on a winning note. CASSENITE (4) has been around the mark this campaign and ran on well here three starts back. The inside draw is a big tick for her and she may settle much closer than we've seen in recent efforts. Expected to be right in the finish. APHRODITE MAGIC (5) disappointed last start after a strong fresh effort. Draws better today however and she's still learning her craft. Can bounce back to her best and go close to winning. LACEY MARIE (7) showed some good signs at the trials and won't be far away. RIVER BEAUTY (8) won her latest trial coming into this and is worth plenty of thought.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Chinese Dentist goes on top in the opener.
2 01:42 GODLEE 1940 NORTHAM CUP WINNER MAIDEN 1600m
Moderate pace only with New Kid In Town leading Yalda Night. FLYING CHOUX (1) was slowly away last start and never really got a crack at them when beaten 3.3L over 1300m here. Up to the mile now looks to suit and Fiore hops back on board after a bold effort two back. Looks ready for the mile journey now and can shed the maiden tag. QUEEN ARIA (6) is a 3YO who showed plenty out to the mile for the first time at this track and trip last start, finishing behind a smart winner. Pike remains in the saddle today and while she is likely to get back in the run, she is open to further improvement. Can get the job done this time. CANTILEVER (3) was sound on resumption over 1300m here 10 days ago and now jumps straight up to the mile for the first time. It looks to suit and CJP sticking is a good push for his chances. Can land the knockout blow. RELIABLE IMAGE (5) will be fitter for the fresh effort and can improve with a couple of gear changes today. YALDA NIGHT (2) is ticking along nicely and won't be far away.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Flying Choux makes the most appeal.
3 02:17 LISSADEL 1952 NORTHAM CUP WINNER MAIDEN 1300m
Expecting No Bid to lead Ranyx at just a moderate tempo. QUAGMIRE (4) showed enough in his debut campaign before a disappointing run to end things at Ascot. He's trialled nicely coming into this however and CJP hops back on the saddle for his resuming effort. Should land in a handy spot from the draw and looks the one to beat. RANYX (1) has been close to a win his past couple at Pinjarra, finishing 2.6L away after leading most recently. The 3kg claim comes in handy if he ends up in front and he'll prove tough to run down if he gets it all his own way. ANKAREEDA (9) won her latest trial under Pike who remains in the saddle for her debut effort today. She hails from a successful family and she'll make her presence felt if she can run up to the trial. METALIC MARLIN (3) was solid from the back first-up at this track and trip and he can build on that effort now. EXTRAORDINARY GIRL (8) has looked good at the trials coming into this and can be in the finish.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Quagmire goes on top.
4 02:52 WATTLE LEAF - 1959 NORTHAM CUP WINNER MAIDEN 1400m
A race that is devoid of early speed and it is hard to nominate a leader. SAXON JEWEL (8) led them up last start at Pinjarra but felt the pinch late when beaten 2.3L. Winkers go on now and the 4kg claim should come in handy with her racing pattern. Draws ideally down along the inside and is sure to give her rivals something to catch. LA EXCELLENCE (2) just missed last start at good odds as a $17 chance at this track over 1300m and rates highly on that effort. He's an improving type and while the wide draw is some niggle, a repeat of his latest effort can see him right in the finish. HOPE TO ADMIRE (5) didn't get into the race last start but is better than he showed there. Can bounce back to form. SIGN THE PAPERS (6) was solid first-up at Kalgoorlie and can make his presence felt.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Saxon Jewel makes plenty of appeal.
5 03:30 GUARD BELLE 1962 NORTHAM CUP WINNER HANDICAP 2218m
Plenty of pace from Argyle Star, Wasn't Me and Ah Kum primarily. KERMELIA (4) got the job done in good style two back before a 1.8L defeat over this course and distance last time out. He was further back than anticipated that day and hopefully can sit closer as she had done in prior efforts. The in-form Parnham sticks and she can return to winning ways. ELEGANT INDI (3) gets the blinkers on today following a 3.7L defeat at Pinjarra where she was slowly away and never really got into the race. She's jumped favourite her past two and she still has plenty of upside being a lightly raced 3YO. Pike sticks with her and she can put her best foot forward. COVENTRY REEF (2) led them up at this track and trip last start and was only caught late in the race. This shapes similarly for him today and it wouldn't surprise to see him go one better. AH KUM (1) was good when out to 2000m last start and looks to get plenty of favours again today. Right in the mix again despite this being tougher. KINELLINS LEGACY (6) can improve third-up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Kermelia to return to the winners' list.
6 04:05 KABOOKI 1972 NORTHAM CUP WINNER HANDICAP 1600m
Ayumi to take charge ahead of Mirrorschino at a strong tempo. OUR PALADIN AL (7) sat on the speed and kicked away to win very impressively at this track and trip last time out as a short-priced favourite. The wide draw may pose some issues, but he's clearly a horse with good ability and he looks ready to continue his way through the grades. FANCY RED (5) couldn't hold out when setting the tempo over 1400m here last week and will appreciate being in this easier race today. She has the speed to offset the wide gate and with Pike remaining in the saddle, she'll give them something to chase. MIRRORSCHINO (8) won over this trip at Ascot before stepping up to 2000m last start and winning again. Now a month between runs, but maps for a lovely run for Fiore and is expected to play a major role. MAJOR MARIO (4) comes through a strong race last start at Pinjarra and should be right in the mix up to the mile. LIEN HYPHEN (6) was good late last start and should be flying home once again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Our Paladin Al can go back-to-back.
7 04:40 LINC THE LEOPARD (NZ) 1987 NORTHAM CUP WINNER HANDICAP 1300m
Expecting Cross Statement to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sharp trip. CROSS STATEMENT (8) looks a super chance of giving apprentice Jefferson Tsang a maiden win here. Albeit he's never won fresh, the gelding's first-up form is still solid and he has trialled well for his return. The 4kg claim helps and Jefferson can roll forward from a wide gate to keep it simple. PLATINUM SHOT (7) looks a danger if she can replicate some of her best form this campaign. Will need a good ride from a tricky draw but should be hitting the line late. CHOP SUEY (6) brings winning form to this after a dominant performance at Pinjarra and can be in the finish again. CLIMB ON TOP (1) is on resumption and can run well.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Cross Statement to lead and win.
