NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:14 RDO EQUIPMENT GATTON BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400m
A few are capable of pushing forward heading a moderate tempo. Tricky. KING TARIK (6) won a Maiden at Doomben three back (second-up) and resumed there in a 65 and needed the outing. He is much better suited today and fitter rates a decent chance. VONZITHER (5) was back to her best winning a 58 at the Sunshine Coast. Maps for a sift run and the in-form Huxtable rides. She's capable of going back-to-back. WANDA'S OUTLAW (8) resumes after 128 days and has switched from a Victorian barn. May need one but has plenty of ability and no surprise if she hits the line hard. ROCKIN' ARTIE (3) posted a good figure when beaten 1L at the Sunshine Coast. He's raced well here and is a hope. FLYING BIRDS (1) won and then didn't have the best of it here following. Maps well and the longer sprint is likely to suit.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to King Tarik.
2 12:49 BACHMANN REAL ESTATE BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 860m
Fast pace assured with Levar, Igbo and Island Tide leading the charge. LEVAR (8) is a leader and trialled sharply in town before the narrow defeat at Ipswich on debut. He was heavily bet here after and belted the Maidens by 5L over this distance. He was backed off the map and drawn to advantage can take the next step. I AM FEARLESS (1) was expected to win first-up beaten 1L at Thangool. Missed the hat-trick prior in a rich Quality at Doomben and will also be fitter. He will carry 62kg after the claim and has the speed to manage the awkward gate. A player. SZABO (9) resumes and is proven in that state. Maps for the run of the race and rates a decent hope. MISS DE BLAAS (4) resumes and is speedy. She will be naturally improved and is in the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Levar.
3 01:22 LOCKYER VALLEY TOYOTA QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 860m
Tricky one to map with a large contingent of unraced runners but over this trip there is certain to be plenty of early pressure. Tricky and the race day betting will be instructive. JUST CLIFFY (14) resumes and showed plenty at the provincials in his brief initial preparation. Maps for a soft run and has the first-time blinkers applied. Will be naturally improved and Huxtable is a positive jockey booking. TAKE A BOW (9) debuts for a sharp metro barn. She's trialled well and has a handy gate. A bold run is likely. FORCEFILLY (4) debuts owning a trial win. She's likely to use the paint and is likely to run well. INVISIBLE TARGET (1) is another debutant with a nice profile that is worth considering.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Just Cliffy has the race form and experience.
4 01:57 HARMAN CONCRETING QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 860m
Only a moderate early tempo anticipated with no recognised leaders engaged. BUCKS FIZZ (7) resumes and sets a decent standard. Threatened in town her initial preparation and there was nothing in it at Doomben last time heavily bet. Resumes off a solid trial there and will be naturally improved. DIBBA DOBBA (9) resumes for the new barn and has pieces of form that would see her very competitive. She will race forward and expect her to be ready to go. BRAVE COWBOY BILL (1) was narrowly beaten here first-up and led and placed on the poly following. Fitter again and has a handy 2kg claim. In the mix. BOONAH FLASHER (6) improved again narrowly beaten at Kilcoy. She will ride the speed and give a sight.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Bucks Fizz.
5 02:37 FALVEY'S HOTEL - OFFICIAL AFTER PARTY OF THE GATTON CUP Maiden Handicap 1400m
Moderate tempo headed by Gartan. OCEAN HONOUR (5) was quickly back to form missing a whisker here over this distance. He was heavily bet and it was a big effort after settling rearward. He's been giving away starts but will be fitter again and can go one better. ROCK LOBSTER (10) improved sharply narrowly beaten at Toowoomba. She may have turned the corner and with average luck in the run can make the finish. VERMILION KIRIN (2) draws very wide but finished a whisker behind Ocean Honour last time and can build on that. Has the handy 2kg claim but does need a clever ride. RUPERT'S JEWELL (12) next best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Ocean Honour.
6 03:17 REDMONDS PET & LIVESTOCK SUPPLIES LOCKYER LIGHTNING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100m
Kwik Az Hell and Flag Hall can match early motors and set a genuine early tempo. FLAG HALL (2) led beaten 1.5L at Doomben in a CL3 building on the lip defeat at Warwick. Has a handy 2kg claim and will get every chance riding the speed. On top. Heathcote-trained HELIKEDEMPRETTY (11) is suited in country grade. Things haven't worked in her favour at her last two starts but here Doomben efforts prior read strongly. SCUD (9) maps for a soft run and is going well enough to consider. KWIK AZ HELL (12) continues to knock on the door and warrants consideration at each-way odds.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Flag Hall.
7 03:52 LADBROKES GATTON CUP BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 2000m
Only a moderate early tempo anticipated with no recognised leaders engaged. AQUA ALTA (6) peaks off a 2L defeat at Doomben in stronger over a mile. She races handy and has placed over a middle distance. She should get every chance to run it right out. Neasham-trained DIABLO BOLT (10) had no luck at Doomben but took out a 65 at Ipswich prior. Ran here best race there this distance range and fourth-up is hard to risk. TOP BOY (9) also brings strong form over a mile. The extra metres shouldn't bother and he draws to advantage and benefits from a 2kg claim. VENTUROUS (11) deserved the win here this grade over a mile. He has solid middle-distance form in easier. In the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Aqua Alta.
8 04:27 PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING & RESPONSE GROUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 2000m
Only a moderate early tempo anticipated with no recognised leaders engaged. PORT MOURANT (6) would go close at best but has been struggling to get his mojo back in stronger company. He finally draws a decent gate and has trialled since his last race 20 days ago. Rates a winning chance in country grade. ENUNCIATION (5) peaks for a metro barn and will show more stepping up to the middle distance. Draws awkwardly but will come hard. KNEZE (4) has been racing well without winning. He can make the finish with average luck in the run. STAR SEEKER (8) can improve sharply here and is worth considering.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Having something on Port Mourant.
