NUM TIME COMMENT
1 04:00 RACING GOES ON 1000M HANDICAP 1000m
The opener looks prime for a debutant to take the chocolates. AMAZING FUN (5) has been performing well at the trials, catching the eye of Zac Purton who will have his first sit on the gelding today. A wide draw suits down the straight course and he looks set to put his best foot forward on debut. DRAGON AIR FORCE (7) scored an All Weather trial win recently in impressive fashion, backing up his win over this course and distance in a trial prior. Karis Teetan had been on board for a couple trials and he takes the reins on raceday. Sure to make his presence felt. LOVING VIBES (8) has been trialling around some smart horses in readiness for his debut and the Lui/Ho combination is often successful. Respect the fact that Ho has been booked to do the job and he's expected to be right there when the whips are cracking. CHEVAL VALIANT (2) can take up the running and prove hard to catch from out in front.
2 04:30 WORLD-CLASS LEADERSHIP 1400M HANDICAP 1400m
JAZZ CLUB (9) has been inching closer to a victory his past few starts, finishing just 2L off the winner here most recently and only 1.8L away prior to that. Purton hops in the saddle now from a good alley and it wouldn't surprise to see him end his winning drought. SPEEDSTAR (11) went close over the mile here two back before going under as favourite most recently over 1650m a Happy Valley. Back to 1400m may be a niggle, though this is the scene of his only career victory. Bowman takes the ride which is a positive sign and it wouldn't surprise to see him get the job done. PERFECT PEACH (10) has been around the mark all campaign and jumped favourite over this course and distance two starts ago. The blinkers go back on today and Karis Teetan sticks from his most recent outing. Ticking along nicely and finds a winnable race now. MEDIC ELITE (7) comes back to this course and distance off a freshen and has to be included on recent form.
3 05:00 UNCOMPROMISING INTEGRITY 1400M HANDICAP 1400m
CHILLI BABA (1) was given a quiet trial since his latest effort over the mile here and he drops back into C5 today. The form out of his last race has been super and the Blinkers go on again with Bowman taking the ride. Was competitive in tougher grade earlier this season and can return to winning form. NOBLE WIN (3) ran over the top to score by 0.3L over this track and trip when running on from the back. Suspect he'll be a long way back again from the wide alley, but the win rates highly and he'll go close to winning again if he can run up to that performance. PRECISION GOAL (11) scored a big win two back at The Valley before pulling up with an issue on the All Weather most recently. Freshened and back to 1400m with Purton on board seems a targeted assault. Drawn well and can make his presence felt. ASIAN ONE (6) gets the blinkers on again following a good win on the All Weather recently. He's trialled well since and is right in the mix.
4 05:30 THE CMA 90TH ANNIVERSARY CUP (HANDICAP) 1000m
MOTOMAN (10) makes his HK debut today after racing under the same name in Australia. He's looked good at the trials in readiness for this and Purton was on board for his most recent outing. The wide draw suits down the straight course and he can make an immediate impact on resumption. KA YING VICTORY (3) has found form again since dropping back to the short course, bringing up back-to-back victories last time out. He does rise in weight again, but he still has plenty of upside being a lightly raced 3YO. Can continue to improve and go close to winning again. HASTEN DELIGHT (2) drops back from 1200m today in what is his first run over the 1000m trip. He can find himself in a handy position from the alley and he's sure to be strong at the finish. FLYING HIGH (6) has closed off well his past couple and draws ideally out wide once again. Can be finishing strongly once more.
5 06:05 SERVING THE COMMUNITY 1200M HANDICAP 1200m
CHAMPION METHOD (2) raced wide throughout last start and felt the pinch late, ending up 2.3L off the winner. He maps for a much kinder run this time around and although he tired late last start, he lost no admirers in the effort. Can improve off that run and get the job done this time. HAROLD WIN (6) has been solid in his two runs this time in, bumping into a couple of good winners on the way. He was 3.5L off them last start, but did show improvement and now the blinkers go on from an inside alley. Looks to have found a suitable race today and further improvement is expected. PARTERRE (1) was solid as he dropped into this grade last start, bumping into a progressive type last start. He has the pace to get across from a wide alley and he rates highly off the last start effort. Can go a couple better this time without surprising. LUCKY IMPACT (7) has shown glimpses at the trials and Bowman sticking from those trials is a positive sign. Include.
6 06:35 THE HONG KONG REUNIFICATION CUP (HANDICAP) 1400m
GORGEOUS WIN (9) has bumped into a couple of sharp horses in his last two outings, but hasn't gone down without a fight. The winner of his last start has won again since, and Lyle Hewitson takes the ride this time around. He remains down in the weights and this looks a great opportunity for him to show what he's capable of. WONDER KIT (4) got into a walkers race last start where they went very slow out in front. Expecting there to be more tempo this time which should suit and Vincent Ho has been successful when riding previously. Drawn well again and can capitalise on his run of form. SUPREME LUCKY (5) stuck on well behind Wonder Kit last start when left flat footed as they sprinted for home. The wide draw today is sticky, but he's trialled well since that effort and a return to winning form wouldn't surprise. ATULLIBIGEAL (1) wasn't far away in G3 company last start and narrowly went under in a C1 two back. Brings the best formlines into this. Has to be included.
7 07:10 THE GUANGDONG-HONG KONG CUP (HANDICAP) 1200m
SIGHT HAPPY (7) has jumped favourite in his first two outings after some good trials leading in. The rise to 1200m looks ideal for him now and Teetan sticking is worth noting. Thinking he still has improvement to come and this looks a very suitable race for him. Can show what he's made of now. SUPER BONUS (11) sat up on the speed and got the job done narrowly last time out, winning in a photo finish. He has the speed to cross from a wide alley and if he gets an easy time of it out in front, he'll take plenty of catching. MR VALIANT (9) missed out by 1.3L over this course and distance 19 days ago and he didn't have the best of luck in the dying stages. Avdulla can get a similar run in transit this time around and he can go close to winning once again. AFFIRM (12) has been close on a number of occasions in his career thus far but is still chasing the elusive maiden win. Can press on from the wide draw and prove hard to run down.
8 07:40 CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT 1400M HANDICAP 1400m
FORERUNNER (8) settled near the tail after being awkwardly away over this track and trip 16 days ago. He's drawn an ideal barrier this time for Bowman, who can sit a little closer with a cleaner jump this time. He's knocking on the door of a victory and he looks set to end his 555-day dry spell. MY FLYING ANGEL (1) stuck on well last start when 2.3L off the winner here back on June 2, The wide draw is a bit sticky, but trust Purton to get it right with his booking a big tick for this 3YO. Brings in some good formlines and appears the main danger. GALLANT CROWN (9) hasn't been far away his past couple when leading the field up in running. Karis Teetan replaces the apprentice hoop this time, who has won 3/5 when partnering the gelding. Likely to be prominent in the run again and can take plenty of catching. GRAND BOSS (7) is a lightly raced gelding who has plenty of upside. Surprised last start but can show its not a fluke in this suitable race.
9 08:10 RIDING HIGH TOGETHER 1400M HANDICAP 1400m
SUPER INFINITY (3) steps out in trip for the first time today which seems ideal for this 3YO judging by his racing pattern. Purton hops off, but Bowman takes the ride and the softer barrier should see him settle much closer now. Can improve sharply and notch up his maiden victory. GOLDEN BULL (4) is somehow still a maiden after 17 starts after making his presence felt a number of times in his short career. His recent trial was only fair, but he's been placed when fresh in the past and his best form would see him in the thick of the finish. FIGHTING MACHINE (2) has been given an easy trial since his 3.5L defeat over 1650m at Happy Valley 26 days ago and returns to the scene of his maiden victory. Purton opts to stick with this galloper and dropping back in trip may hold the key. Sure to put his best foot forward. RUN RUN TIMING (1) showed good signs last start and can repeat that effort with the aid of a good draw.
10 08:45 SPORTSMANSHIP 1200M HANDICAP 1200m
Great race with some progressive types facing off. BOTTOMUPTOGETHER (4) has been superb over the short course in both runs to date and now steps out to 1200m for the first time. He trialled over this trip recently in fine style and the way he won last start suggests the extra trip is no issue. Should get every chance under Purton to remain undefeated. Worth noting that Purton sticks with him over DIVANO (5) who he rode to a 0.8L victory at this track and trip 36 days ago. Hugh Bowman takes over now, but the gelding has plenty of upside and he'll be prominent from the draw. Can continue his winning ways without surprising. SELF IMPROVEMENT (2) will need some luck from the outside draw but he is hard to knock on recent form, just missing last start on the All Weather track. He has performed well on the Turf prior so switching back to this surface is no issue. Can be about the finish. SOLID IMPACT (1) is racing well and warrants respect.
11 09:20 BETTER FUTURE 1600M HANDICAP 1600m
THE HEIR (4) jumped favourite on resumption and was a little plain when beaten 2.5L. Now out to the mile which looks to suit, he gets the tongue tie on first time which is worth noting. Bowman remaining with the galloper suggests he's tracking well and he can end his winning drought today. SECOND TO NONE (6) has built a handy record so far despite a 3L defeat over 1400m recently. He was given a quiet trial recently and the rise to the mile for the first time is interesting. Can continue his strong run of form. FORTUNE SUPERSTAR (3) makes his HK debut today with Avdulla in the saddle, having partnered the 3YO in his last four trials. I like the fact he's at the mile first-up where he was successful in Ireland. Can make an immediate impact. QUANTUM PATCH (5) is ticking along nicely and is sure to be flashing home from the rear.
