Genuine tempo with Betelgeuse to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. JUST THE VALSE (11) pushed forward last time and boxed on to finish third over 1400m at this track. Should park just off the speed despite a difficult draw. Taking on a better field but she is up to the task. UMBRELLA DANCE (9) has progressed nicely in her last couple of runs. Finished third here two starts back then got the job done by 1.5 lengths last time out over 1400m at this track. Naoya Hashimoto scored on her last time and retains the mount. Can feature again. BETELGEUSE (5) started at $2.70 last time and ran below expectations, finishing fifth at Kawasaki over 1400m after being in contention on the bend. Well placed and looks a genuine hope. SEKITEI JUO (4) is back at the races for the first time since October 26. Scored over 1200m at Funabashi at the start of last prep. Among the better chances fresh.
