Defence Witness should bounce onto the speed and Erector will be positive. IDOL got back in a slow run race last time and did more than enough late in the piece under the scenario. Only Defence Witness looks sure to go forward here so the pace is expected to be muddling. IDOL has been racing well of late and certainly looks hard to beat in this company. Came from last on the corner to record a stunning 3.5L win over 1500m at Cranbourne to break her maiden two starts back. Went to Moonee Valley last start over the same distance and made late ground without threatening in a tougher race than this. Crying out for this sort of trip now. With that soft lead likely DEFENCE WITNESS looms as the danger. Led into the straight last start and battled on strongly to finish third over the mile at Cranbourne when second up from a spell. Fitter now and the blinkers come off for this slightly longer trip. QUEDOUTES has been giving away impossible starts of late in shorter races but is hitting the line with real purpose. Came from last in the middle stages to grab third in a tougher race than this over 1600m at Ballarat last start. Is sure to be getting home late again. PRESTWICK has struggled since switching stables but is fitter now and will appreciate this trip. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Idol.
