Fast pace assured with Phaka Imali, Purple Powahouse and Granddaddy Purple leading the charge. PHAKA IMALI (1) was given a gun ride when winning his last start over this course and distance. Three of his four career victories have come over this course and distance. He jumps from pole position and looks well placed to go back-to-back. DARK TIDE (7) showed signs of a form return in his last start over 1000m at the Vaal. He won his only attempt over this course and distance. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he rates well as one of the leading chances. PURPLE POWAHOUSE (2) has good consistent form lines to his credit having placed in all of his last five starts. Three of his four career victories have come over this course and distance. If getting away to a clean start he may be rewarded for consistency. STEVIE GEE (6) should have won his last start as he hung and shifted away from the whip over the closing stages. Apprentice Kobeli Lihaba retains the ride and if keeping on a straight line, he should be fighting out the finish.
