Genuine pace with Reigning Captain finding the front but it won't be a picnic with a few other speedy types engaged. HIT SONG (1) returns from a 21-week spell for new trainer Nikii Pollock. Raced twice last prep at the provincials under Gary Portelli but didn't come up. Returned some good figures in the maiden campaign last Winter. Big chance if he finds that form. BELLE SONNET (5) returns from a brief spell and has transferred from Tom Dabernig to local trainer Sally Torrens. Went okay without threatening when last in work but in this weak maiden she is definitely a contender. SHOWTIME SASSY (9) settled just off the speed and battled on well for fifth when resuming over this distance in a Showcase Maiden at Tamworth last start. Ran some nice races at the provincials last prep which is good form for a race of this standard. THE HOFF (3) has registered four consecutive minor placings, the latest over 1200m at Warren. Hard to leave out on those efforts. STARWORTHY (10) has struggled of late on wet tracks. One to consider if firmer conditions prevail. SUGGESTED PLAY: A small bet on Hit Song in a plain affair.
