Many of these youngsters step out for the first time so a frantic pace early on is likely. SONIC JET (4) produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal last start, finishing fourth of nine. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat. FATAL FLAW (2) showed good improvement in her last start over 1400m at the Vaal when finishing second of 10. Racing in a fitter state has each-way claims. VARVARA (5) took on winners in her last start over 1200m on this course. She is a progressive type and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should have improvement to come. OXALIS GOLD (3) is an unraced daughter of Gold Standard from the Mike de Kock stable with Marco van Rensburg in the saddle. If not too green in the running she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
