GOING:

BRUCE OCKWELL MS PACE 2185m

Track: GOOD   Clear (Max: 19)

ARTFUL MAJOR (10) resumes from a spell of six-and-a-half months after closing off last campaign in good form, the last run being a solid third over 1177m at this track. Draws out a little on the second line and may need luck at some point. Expecting a bright start to the campaign. SOHO VESPER LIND (1) ran seventh last start at this track over 2185m, beaten 19 metres. Expecting a very good run. HAVEYOUMETTED (8) was unplaced two starts ago then things went wrong last start when he broke and finished 16 metres away in eighth over 2190m at Northam. Can settle just behind them and wait on the sprint lane. Won't find this any harder and he can bounce back. DARK EYES (9) is next in line but might need a few good breaks from an awkward draw.

Looked good last start. Won by a nose when driven back in the field, (Fr7) held up early, at Bunbury (2:33.80) beating Goodtime Louis in 4yo+ NR 50 to 70 on May 24 at $17. Two runs back surrendered the lead and finished 10th (Fr1) over 2130m after showing early speed at Gloucester Park beaten 13 m by Quinton (2:33.60) in 0-2W/18 0K on May 16 at $18. This looks a far sterner task.
