ESPERANZA (1) drew wide last start and was safely held, beaten 16 metres into sixth at Newcastle over 1609m. Will enjoy a nice run from this more favourable starting position. Primary contender if anywhere near her best. TRY CATCHING ME (2) finished third last start over 1760m at Narrabri, beaten 6 metres. That was an improvement on the unplaced effort at Narrabri the run before. Sure to enjoy an economical run from this draw. Finds a nice race and can find winning form. SPOOKY ART (5) must be considered after he finished third over 1609m at this track two weeks ago. CHARJO (8) cannot be left out after solid recent performances, the latest a sound fifth at Newcastle over 1609m.  SUGGESTED PLAY:

PEPPI GRATZ (1) was unplaced two starts ago then things went wrong last start when he broke and finished 18 metres away in ninth over 1609m at Newcastle. Has the benefit of a good draw. Won't find this any harder so he can return to form. SPARKLING SUE (7) has been most impressive of late and she made it two in a row when successful at her latest appearance over 1609m at this track, getting home by 2.25 metres. Gets a soft run on the inside of the second line but may need luck at some point. Tackles a similar assignment and she can add to her recent outstanding results. BRAVE BONDI (8) is better than his last-start eighth over 1609m at this track and is worth another chance. GALVARINO (4) is worth some thought after his last-start fourth over 1609m at this track on April 16.  SUGGESTED PLAY:

Will enjoy a nice run from this favourable starting position. Meets a comparable field and she can figure in the finish. CORAL CAYS (9) was out of the money last start when 7 metres from the winner in sixth over 1609m at this track. Best form reference might be her win at this track four starts back. Gets a soft run on the inside of the second line but may need luck at some point. Won't find this any harder and he can grab that well-deserved win.  MAYWYNS MIGHTY MAC (3) has been a bit hot and cold and that continued last start when he finished third, beaten 4.5 metres, in a nice return to form at Newcastle over 1609m. No excuses from this advantageous draw. Meets some better types this time but he has the ability to play a significant role. LACHIES IDEAL (7) did a good job to finish in the minor placings two runs back then his luck changed last time when he broke and finished a long way back in eighth over 1609m at this track. Won't spend a penny from this draw but luck may play a role on the bell lap. Only needs to get things right to be in contention. LACHIES GAMBLE (4) resumes from a spell. Last appeared when a modest ninth over 2422m at Maitland four-and-a-half months ago.
