Enviro-Tech Carpet Maiden Hurdle 3200m
EYE FOR AN EYE (1) has his first start over the jumps. Improved last start to win a 66 over 2550m on the flat at Pakenham and fronts here on a 5-day return. Went well in two hurdle trials last month and expect him to race forward and take plenty of beating. PRIVILEGED SON (4) last raced when he was beaten 3.5 lengths into sixth over 2400m on the flat at Bendigo 11 days ago. Trialled over hurdles three times before that, with race rider Pateman aboard. We can anticipate a positive start to his jumping career. RICH CHAMPAGNE (5) also tackles the jumps for the first time. Has decent flat form and boxed on five days ago when resuming in Open grade at Edenhope. Ideally placed to quickly make his mark. UNTETHERED (8) brings strong flat form to his jumps debut. Followed an easy Ararat win with a near miss over 2600m at Albury in a 66. Races handy and is sure to give a big sight. SUGGESTED PLAY: Eye For An Eye appeals most. |

Hammonds Paints Open Hurdle 3200m
STOCKMAN (4) closed the last campaign with a win in a hurdle (3200m) at Warrnambool. Has had three recent trials and Pateman sticks from the win. Key runner while fresh. SING FOR PEACE (2) improved nicely last time to salute by one length in a hurdle (3200m) at Warrnambool. Was heavily backed and is well-placed to carry on the job. POINT NEPEAN (3) resumed in Stake grade over 2600m on the flat. Placed in two jumps trials leading into that. Sure to make his presence felt. INITIAL MOMENT (7) was well beaten in fifth at first attempt in a hurdle (3200m) at Warrnambool 12 days ago. Will be better for that and keeps the 3kg claim. She may prove the best of the remainder. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Stockman. |

Brentnalls Western Victoria Open Steeplechase 3200m
TOPSPIN (7) won a steeplechase trial here, and his flat form on either side of that is strong. Wasn't far away over 2500m at Pakenham last time. He's proved to be a tidy hurdler who gets weight relief over brushes with the claimer engaged. The one to beat. FIELD OF LIGHTS (3) resumes and has been well prepared for it. His steeples form last preparation suggests he will be very compeditive if presented on song. Stablemate BAZINI (5) also resumes, and he's also had a solid string of leadups. Has Pateman aboard, and we should see more from him this preparation. NOT USUAL DREAM (4) had a jumps trial and then did nothing on the flat at the picnics. Fitter again and he's a safe chaser who won't be too far away. SUGGESTED PLAY: Topspin to win. |

Cally Hotel BM56 Highweight Handicap 2200m
Cousins Day and Octahedron are both expected to press forward and take it up. COUSINS DAY (3) is going well enough to win a highweight of this calibre. Raced too keen in front at Warrnambool last time, but went well in a 62 there prior off an easy win over 2156m this grade at Terang. The inside gate advantages and winning rider Parker is reunited. Has the class to win. THE KINGS GOSPEL (9) finished 2.25 lengths away last time out over 1864m at Kyneton a week-and-a-half ago. Placed over a middle distance at Stony Creek prior, finishing hard from the back of the field. Has decent claims. BOYSZEE (5) hasn't won for an age, but his near miss at Yarra Valley two back this grade stacks up. Deserves consideration after a brief freshen-up. IN YOUR HANDS (7) is on a 5-day back-up. Resumed over a staying distance at Pakenham off two hurdle trials. That's where he's likely headed, but he can't be ruled out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cousins Day to win. |

bet365 Position Payout Maiden Plate 1200m
Solid tempo with Sternin possessing enough dash to find the front. FASHION WORLD (8) rates strongly and takes her place on a 3-day backup. Has hit the line placing close-up both runs this preparation and Meech sticks aboard from the latest over this trip and Warracknabeal. Must be pleasing and has the numbers. STERNIN (11) settled too far back at Echuca but was close up in town and at Ballarat prior, over 1000m. Keeps Yendall and has the blinkers on for the first time. Expect him to push forward today and he has strong prospects. CONISTON SPICE (6) was good in the lead-ups but looked a run short at Swan Hill on debut. Has a handy gate and the tongue tie is applied today. In a leading barn and quick improvement is on the cards. Expect SILVER SNOW (5) to make good improvement third-up. Just missed this trip the last time he raced here, and he has the blinkers on again. That effort would have him well in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Sternin. |

Boyles Livestock Transport BM56 Handicap 1100m
Genuine tempo with American Russ leading the way. THE KILL CLUB (1) resumes and brings sharp form from stronger races. Has placed 2/3 fresh and won her only start this trip. Races forward and is likely to come back further improved. KAMEZALI (4) resumes and has switched to Taige Weir from the Ciaron Maher yard. She's also raced well in better grade and has jumped out in good style 2x at Ballarat. A bold return is on the cards. SHOUT ME (2) was fresh from a break when beaten 0.7 lengths into second over 900m at Mt Gambier. The extra journey should play into his hands. Likely to push forward and has each-way claims. JUDGE KELLIE (7) resumes. She usually needs a run before striking, but maps well and has some ability. Might be more forward this time around, and keep an eye on the betting moves. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with The Kill Club. |

Flooring Xtra Hamilton 0-62 Handicap 1400m
Without a designated pacemaker it will probably turn into a dash home. LOOSE ON GIN (2) has been racing in stronger and has the blinkers applied for the first time. Yendall rides today and he's won this course/distance. Anywhere near his best he'll take beating. CORRO (3) turned in a nice effort to score two runs ago at Ararat. Safely held last time out over 1206m at Terang, beaten 3.5 lengths. He was fractious at the barriers, and winning rider Meech is reunited today - and she's flying. The longer sprint should suit and no surprise to see him back on track. IMMINENT STORM (4) ran his best race, placing at Terang over 1606m, and has been freshened for 46 days. Won this level three back over the same journey, and likes the cut in the track. Well in the mix.
SETHACCHIO (5) is going well and comes back a bit in trip. Has the rail but settles back, and the small field will suit in that regard. Has to be considered. SUGGESTED PLAY: Loose On Gin is well placed at best. |

Ritchies IGA Hamilton BM56 Handicap 1600m
Regal Surge has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. MISS TRUSTFUL (5) did a good job last start, beaten only 1.5 lengths over 1450m at Kilmore, after positioning forward. She is proven third-up, and the extra metres won't be an issue. Well placed with a 4kg claim and can win for the premier stable. Stablemate REGAL SURGE (1) closed off strongly last start, beaten 0.6 lengths, over 1406m at Terang when back from a break. Has the rail and should be handy in the run. Will present fitter and is sure to go close. HABITEIN (4) resumed at Warrnambool in stronger company and needed the outing. He's suited by the step up in trip and maps well. Has been kept on the fresh side and is likely to race well. KAWHIA (9) resumes and won a recent hurdle trial at the track. He's won fresh and over this journey and will be hitting the line. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Miss Trustful. |
