Crothers and Associates Maiden Plate 1590m
Genuine tempo with Pleasing Smile and Deep Stream leading the way. Hayes-trained PLEASING SMILE (9) jumped out well at Flemington and was only beaten 2L on the Pakenham synthetic on debut over 1400m. Raced forward and with the extra fitness can take this out. ETERNITY STAR (2) just missed this trip at Geelong and then resumed off an injury-enforced 473-day break, beaten 3.5L at Echuca 37 days ago over 1400m He will have taken plenty of improvement and has placed in a jumpout since. Maps well and is good enough. CRISMERA (11) and MCWOODY (8) both debut for the Walker yard and their jumpouts suggest they have the ability. They draw handy and the late betting will be key with them.. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Pleasing Smile. |

Naubro Kerb Maiden Plate 1400m
Genuine tempo with The Better Husband and Tikken pressing for the lead. Hayes-trained VOUCHERS (10) placed in a Flemington jumpout and then impressed when beaten 1.4L at Wangaratta on debut after an awkward start. McDougall stays aboard and he navigates well around here. Strips fitter and ready to win. THE BETTER HUSBAND (9) resumes and wasn't beaten far at Pakenham on debut. That stacks up and he's jumped out well at Cranbourne. He will be naturally improved and a bold return is likely. SWING YOUR MAGIC (3) impressed at his first two race starts and third-up this preparation he should be ready to show more. He didn't have the best of it last time and Egan stays aboard. TIKKEN (4) resumed at Cranbourne and was a run short. The longer sprint suits and he's in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Vouchers appeals. |

Vale Frank Reynolds Maiden Plate 1200m
Angling For Info and Maestro's Echo can be prominent. Competitive. BLACKHILL BOY (2) placed in two Flemington jumpouts before racing favourite when beaten 1.4L at Seymour on debut. He has an awkward barrier to contend with, but keeps Rawiller and the longer sprint is sure to suit. PONTE ARCOBALENO (4) resumed much improved when narrowly beaten on the synthetic. Maps well and he's attractively weighted with a 3kg claimer engaged. A top hope if he brings the form to the turf. YOUARENOTALONE (7) missed 1L here and then raced too keenly when well supported at Warrnambool (vet cleared). A wide barrier cruels, but he'd be a hope at best. ZIGGY PLAYS GUITAR (8) has been racing on the synthetic with plenty of market support. Fitter again and keep safe on the turf. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Blackhill Boy |

Border Carpets Maiden Plate 1200m
Good early pressure anticipated with a large contingent of unraced runners. Tricky and the late betting should be instructive. DUKE OF D'BROOK (3) debuts and has looked sharp at the jumpouts. He has the inside barrier and should get every chance to shine. WYANDRA (9) debuts for the smart Moody-Coleman yard. He's also impressed at the jumpouts and has an inside barrier. A threat on what we've seen. FIORE DARANCIO (10) is a stablemate of the top selection, and his jumpouts suggest he'll be winning races. Needs to be kept safe. SAFE AND WARM (6) is in a leading metro yard. He was well in the market but did nothing at Swan Hill on debut (vet cleared). The blinkers go straight on and a much better effort is likely. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Duke Of D'Brook. |

Baxters Concrete BM62 Handicap 1200m
Solid tempo with several going forward headed by Seeyou Raider. WHITE BEAR (8) has had two starts back for the new stable in stronger races and should be ready to find his best form. Impressed on dry tracks at the back of his previous preparation and has been kept up to the mark with a placed jumpout at Flemington. Has the winkers on for the first time and McDougall will give him every chance from an inside barrier. JUGIONG (5) missed a whisker at Bendigo in a 64 before the spell and there was a stack of merit in the effort. He resumed there and had no luck from a wide barrier. He'll need a good ride again but the longer sprint will suit and he rates a solid each-way chance. SEEYOU RAIDER (6) resumes and won a Kilmore Maiden by a space on debut, his only fresh outing. Won a recent Kilmore jumpout and can control the race from an inside gate. He will be naturally improved and rates a winning chance. STARMAE (11) resumed for the new stable with a solid effort at Sandown-Hillside. Has plenty up her sleeve and gets in well with the 2kg claim. SUGGESTED PLAY: Learning to White Bear. |

Picklebet's Get Your Pickle On BM56 Handicap 1100m
Good pace from Mr Assertive, Deekaygeebee and Raven's Silver going forward. An open contest. HELLBERG (15) found more like his best placing this grade on the Ballarat synthetic. He races forward and his best numbers are on the turf. Gets his chance. FRENCH LOLLY (5) just missed on the Ballarat synthetic and then led there and delivered his Maiden with a bit in reserve. This is a step up but he's been kept on the fresh side and will go close if he transfers the form to the turf. CROATIAN ART (7) led and was a big 58 winner at Warracknabeal on a slow track. She only has to hold that form to be a serious player. MR ASSERTIVE (6) is up to this at best and we're likely to see more on a better surface. Has a sharp third-up record and Rawiller stays aboard. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Hellberg each-way. |

Kiewa Valley Spring Water BM56 Handicap 1400m
Brullen should find the front with Farisha and Sister Shay on his heels. BRULLEN (1) was nudged out twice before delivering a win this grade at Mildura as a $2.9 favourite. He controlled the race and is likely to do so here. Looks well placed to go on with the job. ANCHOR DOWN (5) found a place at Geelong first-up and there was plenty of merit in the effort. He's further improved and can sit handier today. SHEER LUNACY (3) is busting to win and there was only a lip in it at Benalla last time. He risks getting bolted up from an inside barrier but keeps the 3kg claim and should go close regardless. FARISHA (10) came back to the turf and turned the form around beaten a lip at Bairnsdale as a well-supported favourite. She has to stretch out to 1400m but races forward and can't be ruled out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Brullen. |

Wodonga Jewellers BM56 Handicap 1590m
Just a small field but Parabellum, Vegas On Fire and Besson can ensure the pace is genuine. VEGAS ON FIRE (7) is busting to win. She will use an inside barrier and is suited at country level. Gets a senior hoop for the 2kg apprentice. BREEZY BON (1) got on to a good track and spiked her figures winning a 58 at Wangaratta, stepping up to this trip. Raced forward in that and may do the same here. She has more scope for improvement and can go on with it. LOVE SPARKLES (6) just missed this grade at Tatura, going much better on a good track. Has an awkward gate but peaks and can get into the finish. GREY LAD (2) drops back in trip but is racing well. Has a 4kg claim and that brings him into it. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Vegas On Fire. |
