From wide out Magical Girl can slide over and set up a genuine tempo. MORINO RED STAR (14) fought on for second last start over 1200m at Niigata, making it two minor placings in a row. Should settle just off the speed despite the draw. Beautifully placed and is sure to take a ton of beating. YABUSAME (5) missed the placings two starts back when resuming then ran a better race and finished 2 lengths away in fifth last time out over 1400m at Kyoto. Tackling a more suitable race this time so he is a major player. ELFRETH'S ALLEY (16) was prominent at the corner and finished second last start at the first run back from a spell over 1200m at Nakayama, beaten 1.5 lengths. Placed to advantage so expect a forward showing. RED EVANS (6) registered a strong win two runs ago then turned in a nice run last time out when fifth over 1400m at Niigata, beaten 2.25 lengths. One of the main hopes.
