Open Minded and Sartorial Splendor to apply plenty of early pressure over the sprint journey. UNCOMMON JAMES (11) is an exciting prospect from Queensland who should measure up here. Both his wins before a let up were dominant and they rate well with 54kg. He should have residual fitness and this looks an ideal race to make a winning Melbourne debut. LOMBARDO (1) went out as a winner of the G1 Goodwood Stakes. Has to lug the 61kg but has won 8/16 and is a ripper. SINAWANN (2) will be better over a touch further but did run second to G1 winner Marabi over this trip at Moonee Valley last time in at G2 level. Big watch fresh. OPEN MINDED (4) next best, another who will be better over 1400m when he can lead but should go well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Uncommon James.
